People from the Middle East are saying that they don’t believe in jinn possessions because schizophrenia and epilepsy are considered as jinn possession there. I live in Albania and i know a lot of cases when it was clear jinn possession and sometimes even the doctors(even if they are secular) recommend people to go to an imam because of the unexplainable symptoms. Jinn possession is real.

Dr Shabbir's approach to the hadith literature is rational and also consistent with the Quran. Since the Quran is the most reliable source and is preserved, then it shoul be the criteria to distinguish authentic hadith from false. Quran explicitly states that jinn have no control over humans.

This is old but yeh it's abuse! The hadeeths that talk about possession are problematic. Ruins the image of Islam and people underestimate even just owning a title which makes you well respected, like an 'exorcist'. I mean people give these people their house, car etc. In my experience it's a placebo effect and if you're unlucky they abuse power to tell you what to do based on their understanding of deen which may contradict your values (you're vulnerable so you listen), instill more fear in you and makes you more ill + paranoid. I searched this a little and found that there is an Ayah in the Quran mentioning those people who practice riba and their condition rising up in the Day of Judgement...the verse is 275 from Surat Al-Baqarah. other than that, I agree with some the the previous comments that supports the idea of Jinn possession and I suggest that you should mention what is exactly meant by Jinn possession in the Islamic culture and what they agree on and the cases that are talked about. I think that referring to it as "Jinn possession" without much explanation would cause some misunderstandings for all of us.

I really do not understand this argument: I am Muslim and in 2009 when i was in madrasah, i experienced a fellow student who was apparently possessed by a JINN, he was taken to the Masjid and the bothers read Surahs while seated around him, the possessed boy started speaking which was the Jinn answering questions of where it was sent from and why, the brothers read Surahs , tied his one small finger if i remember correctly so that the jinn can exit the boy's body from the other finger or something like that, there was a specific process implemented to cast away the possession and the process seemed to be known as something that had been implemented before. Furthermore, when i was in madrasah, we were taught that we shouldn't enter the toilets with bare feet ( a teaching still practiced all around South Africa in all the Majids i have visited), we were taught DUAS for entering and exiting toilets and all these rules and practices are apparently to protect us from being possessed by JINNS because we ere told that JINNS leave in the toilets which is why we were also taught not to eat,speak,read Quran verses or even think about them while in the toilet. On top of that there's Sura NNas and Surah Jinnat both in the Quran talking about JINNS and these were some of the Surahs read for the possessed boy in the Masjid while he was possessed............... NOW IT IS UTTER CONFUSION TO HEAR THAT IT IS NOT RATIONAL FOR A JINN TO POSSESS A HUMAN BODY: ALL CONFUSING AND BRINGING ABOUT DOUTS. When I heard he said that Jinns are a “branch” of angels is what made me suspicious of him. I like his reasoning so far about many other hadiths but when it comes to the jinns, he is wrong. Jinns are completely different creations than angels because they have free will and they are made from smokeless fire and the angels are made from light(but this is not mentioned in the Quran though) 66:6 يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا قُوا أَنفُسَكُمْ وَأَهْلِيكُمْ نَارًا وَقُودُهَا النَّاسُ وَالْحِجَارَةُ عَلَيْهَا مَلَائِكَةٌ غِلَاظٌ شِدَادٌ لَّا يَعْصُونَ اللَّهَ مَا أَمَرَهُمْ وَيَفْعَلُونَ مَا يُؤْمَرُونَ O you who believe! @@SR_9_ I get your approach. But... 1/ Whatever the youngest acceptable age of marriage is now, or was in the time of the prophet (saw) doesn't really matter. What we humans deem to be acceptable or unacceptable cannot determine wether a hadeeth is acceptable or not. Regardless of the day and age we live in. Whatever the prophet (saw) actually did, is justified by Allah, so regardless wether it is acceptable for us or not, in this age or in ancient times, we have to accept it as the prophet (saw) did it. So, arguments about how this was supposedly normal in the time of the prophet (saw) are invalid. 2/ The actual reason that the ahadeeth (that inform us of Aisha's age to be between 6 and 9) are fabricated is because: 1. They totally do not chronologically fit within the timeline of events. 2. The ahadeeth contradicts the Quran. 3. The ahadeeth contradicts the principal teachings of Islam, such as the principal teachings and purposes of marriage in Islam. 4. It goes against reason. With all respect but... Every person that believes that Aisha's age at her marriage to the prophet (saw) was 6 or 9, or anything close to that, has no clue about what marriage is all about in Islam, has no clue of the Quran, has no clue of other ahadeeth, and with all respect, has no clue of what reasoning means.

@@SR_9_ With my knowledge of Islam at the moment I take supposed sahih hadith with a grain of salt. Insha Allah I will be more knowledgeable, may God guide us. Regarding Aisha: I'm more comfortable accepting she was not 9 as the most evidence show. If you accept her to be 9, you have to almost reject other hadith in Bukhari. For example: multiple other hadith show her to be 14 - 20 at the time of marriage, if you mathematically deduct this. Furthermore , she isn't even eligible to be pray yet she can merry? So that's why I take hadith with a grain of salt. I've feel like I've been lied to and I feel that some of the mainstream ideologies are a insult to Islam. Allah knows best.

I study medicine and I came to contact in my Psychiatry rotation with people who are schizophrenic. These people exhibit two sets of symptoms, the negative symptoms are depressed but otherwise existing domains with humans, like apathy, loss of interest, alogia, avolition etc. The positive symptoms are delusions, faulty ideas in brain with no rationale or not based on local culture, like the patient thinks the government is trying to control his mind (delusion of control) or someone is gonna kill him (delusion of persecution). Within the positive symptoms, there are the hallucinations, which are precept without stimulus. They can be as simple as flashes or simple knocking sounds, to more extreme like seeing animals or ghosts or hearing people where they are not there.

Saqib Sheikh He explained that many Hadith don't sound true from what he has gathered information from the Qur'an about the Prophet pbuh. And he bases his logic on that. Not cherry picking. As I understand it... Qur'an is the ultimate truth and Hadith can only help us understand Qur'an, not make a new view of the Prophet pbuh or the religion. Hearsay used to be stronger in the times of no Internet to cross check. And Hadith like Sahih Bukhari was compiled 200 years after Prophet pbuh by a scholar called Bukhari from present Uzbekistan who travelled to Arab world to gather his Hadith collections. It was quite possible many people believed in wide accepted hearsay and passed it on.

Let me try to explain.. 1-in order for you to authenticate a written text you need to trace it back to the person who wrote it. Do you have the book that Bukhari wrote? No! The oldest known book of Hadith is less than 800 years old and is definitely not written by Bukhari. 2nd Problem, is Oral transmission and translation. There was not a single Hadith that was written during life of our Prophet Muhammad صل اللہ علیہ وسلم Writing of Hadith started 285 years later when none of the Sahabi was alive. Proof? There is not a single Hadith writing that can be scientifically traced back to 6th century or 7th century or even 8th centuries.. You can use number of dictionaries and learn meaning of Arabic words used in Quran, compare meaning with existing translations and figure out what is the best meaning.. You need to understand one thing about Islam and Quran. Unlike Christianity and other religions there is no intermediary in Islam we have direct connections with Allah through his book Quran. When you read Quran with sincerity Allah opens your heart and it will make sense to you.. if you are skeptical and think that you will need someone else to explain Quran then you will not benefit. That is all I am saying. You can read all other books and listen to every Shaikh out there but your first obligation is to read and understand Quran so no one can misguide you in the name of Islam.

For those like me that have had glimpses of the Unseen (e.g. "seeing" Jinn, etc), we KNOW that there is so much power of MIND, both positive and negative. I disagree with his rationality argument. The existence of Jinn is irrational. That does not mean it is not true. We can't see Jinn or hear them as far as I know. That does not mean they don't exist. Even in science there are things that you might view are irrational but still are there. For example, there are many types of light we can't see with our eyes. Infra red for example is not visible to the human eye, but it still exists. Just because something might not be rational from one point of view does not mean we can push it away.

And the existence of jinns is mentioned and established in the Qur'an which is why Muslims believe it, but possession isn't clearly established in the Qur'an at all. Very very interesting points. As a Muslim with limited knowledge I'm trying to fact check what Dr Shabir said about jinn with verses in the Quran. I'm recalling the surah about Moses and the Pharaoh's magicians.. And Surah Al Jinn...(both mentioned by Dr Shabir). But I also know that in the Quran syaitan will say to the dwellers of Hell that he did not will or make them follow him; that they followed him on their own will; and that he cannot help them and neither can the dwellers help him on judgement day. So if we say jinn can possess humans at any time does it mean jinns are more powerful than syaitan (the most powerful evil jinn)? Does it mean we don't have free will? So these do go against Islam. But then what about ruqyah? I know in my country the belief in jinn is so strong that we commit shirk easily. We say don't go to that tree or don't go into the jungle because of "spirits"...so much so that we fear jinns more than Allah! Definitely something to ponder upon. The take away from this is Allah is the most high and to go back to our Quran. May Allah guide us.

Is the Hadith mentioned in this video authentic or not? There was no discussion about that. Calling a Hadith problematic is a problem within itself. There are several categories of Hadith; none of them are known as problematic. A Hadith is either sahih, Hassan, weak, fabricated etc etc. So discussion must move around those categories to convince people of knowledge about particular Hadith. It’s unfair to call it problematic and leave it there. I am not saying Jin possession is real or not. I am also trying to learn about this topic. But I want to learn it with more logical and proper reasoning

Hadith are rated by Islamic scholars (normal human beings). There is a probability of them making mistakes or maintaining a Hadith to suit a particular social or political ideology (depending on the time frame in which they lived), or that they may have believed something to be true which was not. We must learn to carefully distinguish between rejecting a statement of prophet Muhammad SAW (which is kufr), and questioning a statement which ALLEGEDLY came from the prophet that does not make rational sense or contradicts the Quran and other Hadith.

I question this man's aqeedah! Jinns are a separate creation from the Angels, they do not possess the qualities and attributes of Angels. As for Jinn possessions, they do happen and there are reasons why it happens, these facts are well documented throughout history. If human beings can control other human beings through mind-control techniques, why can the Jinns not do the same since they are also intelligent beings with free-will? Also why could the Jinns not posses humans physically considering they do not have a physical form and humans do. He's reasoning that the Quran didn't mention Jesus expelling demons is completely irrational. That's what happens when you put aql before naql, your religion becomes watered down, like the religions of those that came before us. The problem is the outlook of people, especially living in modern the times everything has to fit into a "rational" frame-work otherwise its not acceptable. It is far easier, rational and reasonable for me to accept Jinn possessions over Alien abduction.

Shabir Ally is very good with comparative religion but don't understand that Jinn can take shapes of animals like dogs, monkeys etc. They manifest themselves in this form. Well, there have been real cases of possessed people speaking entirely foreign languages while exorcizing , even cases of exactly the episode of dog vomiting , etc.. There have been extensive research by very learned scholars on this subject even having doctorates on the subject subscribing for the existence of Jinn and their evil effects on humans... I opine with due respects to this scholar that there are lots and lots more on this subject... sura Al Baqara v 275 speaks about the touch of Shaithan when speaking about Riba.

Please read and study the tafseer of the said ayah ((يَا أَيُّهَا الرَّسُولُ بَلِّغْ مَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ ۖ وَإِن لَّمْ تَفْعَلْ فَمَا بَلَّغْتَ رِسَالَتَهُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ يَعْصِمُكَ مِنَ النَّاسِ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْكَافِرِينَ (67 )) O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord, and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message. And Allah will protect you from the people. Indeed, Allah does not guide the disbelieving people. " Your understanding of wallahu yahsimuka Allah will protect you and nothing can harm the Prophet Muhammad(S.A.W.)? Prophet Muhammad(S.A.W.) was harmed or injured in the battle of Uhud, what happened to his teeth? Prophet Muhammad(S.A.W.) experienced fever, sickness,etc. Sihir can harm people by the permisson of Allah to increase the rewards of the muslim who is harm and to increase the Punishment of who did the sihir. In the said Authentic hadith Prophet Muhammad(S.A.W.) was harmed but Allah protected him by healing him after applying the two Surah Muawwidath. In the said verse Allah told Prophet Muhammad(S.A.W.) to protect his life so that Allah's messages and religion will be completed. It menas Allah will protect his life and mission even he was going to be harmed physically and mentally by his People . You can not misapply the said verse to judge the said Authentic hadith as Problematic because your understanding of the said verse is problematic and bias.

salmun ala man iteb3 al huda..., first of all, i must say i do like his videos.. but at the same time i see him leaning towards other faiths when explain Islamic beliefs and concepts.. and here is another example of this, when he said Jinn are branch of Angels.. (kinda of supporting the ideas of Jews/Christians where they believe that Diablos/Iblis was falling angel) where as it is clearly said and Allah negates (this false belief of Christan and Jews) in the Quran alkareem that He was not Angel but of among the Jinns who were created out of Poisonous Fire (Naar Samoom) and similarly it made clear disctiction that Angels were created out of Light (Noor). A person of his caliber must speak the truth only. and STOP TEACHING or MIXING TRUTH with Falsehood (Christianity/Judaism/atheism), We have the absolute Truth - Al-Islam - Verily deen in the sight of Elohim/Allah/Alaha is Islam (Total Submission to His Will) - that my 2cents...

Just wanted to point out that you totally misunderstood. He didn't say that he believes they are fallen angels. Listen carefully. He said in Islamic Theology it is believed that they are this that and the other.. He was merely introducing the concept of Jinn

Jinn are not angels...jinn were made of smokeless fire...there are different types of jinn..some are just like humans have families,some are religious other are not...then there are shaytans,Ifrit that are in christianity demons and finally Iblis Who is to some considered to Be lucifer in christianity...this is very misleading and the lack of proper knowledge on this subject is unnerving...hopefully this man is not am imam.

Please change the title there is no hadith that is problematic. Without knowing for certain the great scholars accepted these hadiths knowing that jinns can take the form of a dog.. I dont see the issue?

The Sahaba and the people of that time lived on planet Earth, just like us!!!! The same way we have different characters and personality in 2018 they did too!!! Some people are not blind followers & this is ok because Islam has nothing to hide, people who want to research and analyse about their religion should be allowed to. The same way people in 2018 have doubts or uncertainty about some Narrations/ Event and Hadiths and so did some peoole 1400 yrs ago. Muslims should be allowed to explore, investigate and analyse if it helps them understand their Deen.
