If he didn't have an account or a bank he goes to (which is hard to believe but not far-fetched), why didn't he just make an account? Bank personnel will bend over backwards to get you to have/make an account with them. You'll be in and out faster than black guy going for a chick with a big ass.

It's more than a little late, but here's my baseless speculation on this situation. I don't think that Rylan went into this wanting to scam people. He just wanted to make a cheap 3d printer. His friend came to him and was like 'hey, can I use some of the Kickstarter money to build a house? I'll pay it back quickly, I just need the cash fast'. Instead of telling him to go to hell, he agreed on the condition that he film a confession video admitting to stealing the money just in case he couldn't pay it back.

Could you please do an update to this video, so he just ran out of money and that's it? So anyone can start a Kickstarter and just run out of money? And that's the end of it

Yup anyone can do it, it's just usually - if the backers have any sense- a one shot deal. If you start another campaign that's easily re-traceable to your previous one, you aren't going to succeed again. And maybe it's a stereotype, but the type of people who give tons of money to these projects have way too much time on their hands. You will get hounded by emails and angry letters, and they will internet stalk you if they can, warning off all your future victims.
@Zizzily7 жыл бұрын
I love how browsing through this, it turns into an even bigger shit show. Apparently they got government grants for CA$90k and CA$135k plus a loan from a family member for CA$50k. They also got CA$107,000 of the CA$320,000 back! So while this guy "owes" CA$213k, they got CA$275k between grants and the loan, so that should mean they've had more than enough money to finish, whether or not the rest is paid back. It also means that in total, before fees, they earned CA$1,000,258 between KS, IGG, grants and the loan!
@Zizzily7 жыл бұрын
Doing some more searching, I found a good article about the whole thing from Motherboard: motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/peachy-printer You should do a second video on this!
@StopDropRetro7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I did hear about their government grants shortly after making this video, wish I had found out earlier since I would have included it. And yeah, they "lost" the money the guy "stole" but they made up for all of it with government grants, so it doesn't make sense and it's certainly not 50% of their money raised or whatever they said. Plus they met their goal many times over, so I don't get why they couldn't at least make partial deliveries and figure the rest out later. Also, the pie chart I screen capped has since been altered or deleted from their update. It's clear they were looking to ask for more money with this video. I'm glad most people, including their backers, didn't fall for that trap. I'd like to make a follow up but there's not a lot of news to follow up on. The authorities don't seem to be doing anything and the project seems to be dying a slow quiet death into obscurity.
