All self serve car washes come with problems. Some weeks may be great and not have that many and other weeks there will be a lot of problems. You will see in this video a few of the problems that car washes can encounter from no soap coming out of the soap brush to the wax not working in only 3 of the bays.
At his car wash in Lancaster there is a bit of a homeless problem and they seem to think its ok to set up camp at his car wash so we are constantly asking them to politely leave the car wash as its bad for business and customers will not enter.
Stewart also goes over how he acquired this car wash and how he structured the deal. How much did he pay for this car wash? How long is the lease of his car wash? How much it cost him to remodel the car wash? He answers all these questions and so much more information about self serve car wash's.
After working for my Uncle for 2 years at he's car washes I really wanted my own and I came across this car wash. It was completely shutdown for many years so I approached the owner of the land and made a deal with him.
It took me 6 weeks to bring it back to life and open it and now the customers are starting to pour in. Not to mention I opened it during winter so I am yet. to see its full potential but here's a small taste of how its going so far!

Look into what some of the laundry places are doing now using a Google or Amazon device to put out an automated message every 20-30 minutes and late night switching to odd sounds making the local homeless think the place is haunted. The power of kids laughing in the middle of the night is a powerful creep factor. A pressure washer to run around to the different car wash locations to spray down the buildup on the walls. Yes you have pressurized water at the guns but it is not that high pressure when you compare it to a pressure washer made for cleaning concrete. Something very fast to clean the bays without needing to shut down the place and you can stop if the place is getting busy since you are not using any chemicals.

Look for some low cost phone chargers to put into the machines as they don't go bad and people need chargers at the worst times so having them in a vending machine is a good thing. Hotels and work places are the most common when they need them and can't simply run to a store that sells them

I think if the US switched to one dollar coins it would make life much easier as there's less coins to insert and 3/4 less chance of malfunctions...

@@GranthamMann We need to look at what other countries have done in the past and go for 1, 5 and 10 dollar coins and stop making the bills for those to force the change over. The most effected would be places that can have automatic change dispensers anyway so the change from bills to coins would not be noticed by the cashiers and the spreading of contactless payment with bills/coins should be something companies would want to push.

Awesome video man. I just have a quick question,in one of my bays the pressure soap is not working properly,once I press the trigger it looses pressure,any idea what could of be!? Thanks,and keep up with the great videos .

Umm could be a few things and of course hard to tell without checking in person but if it loses pressure or shakes maybe the cat pump nets a clean. The 6 filters in those nuts. Or maybe needs a new regulator. Just trail and error in finding the problem. Thanks for the kind words.

Just asking your opinion - would you recommend going even though I am just a prospect and obviously cannot purchase any of the latest and greatest that they will be showcasing? Hi I am an aspiring carwash owner. I would like to know what system you use for the foam wash? Is it just a chemical injector? I do have a chemical injector and it just eats a lot of soap and it does not foam quite well with my pressure washer. Any tips that I can use to get that foamy wash for my customers?

I wish there was anyway you could regulate the imbeciles that dry in the bay, especially during busy days like Friday-sundays. I was there Friday 10/8 and there was 3 bays where people where holding up towel drying and interior detailing after they’ve washed. With all vacuum bays open!

Yes it’s definitely annoying and we always ask them to exit the bay once done washing. I suppose we could put up more signage but those type of people seem to ignore signs also. 24/7 security would be nice. Lol

In your bays ,do all of your hoses use booms to be able to reach all around the vehicle or do some just have the curly hoses, enough to reach the entire vehicle ?

No. 2 are just coil hoses coming down from roof

Depends where you are. I mean I use my own guy who my uncle and I found working at another car wash. Otherwise the only company I’ve dealt with is west coast car wash concepts.

What do the options mean when you say you have a 10 year lease with two 5 year options?

I’m locked in for the first 10 years straight. I have to give notice to exercise the option before it’s due but basically for some reason if I don’t I can let the lease expire and walk away. Not that I would want to. Basically a way out and gives me the “option”

So I got a question on how the lease works....so your Uncle Stewie did a 20 year lease, so does that mean after the 20 years is up, the carwash goes into his name??

No it means his lease is up so unless there is a new lease made with the landlord than his time is done there and he has to vacate the property and essentially walk away. For the most part a new lease is just drafted up.

Always best to get the land but ill take a car wash when its there for the taking

Everything is different but these ones I mean cost nothing to reattach a wire. The wax he just had to clean out a solenoid so that was also free. It’s more missing out on the income from the customers when something is down because then they can’t use it.

If all bays are full and there’s a paying customer waiting to use the bay but you’re blocking it without using our facilities then use the bucket at home. If the car wash is empty and I see someone using a bucket then that is ok but blocking paying customers is not.

@@CarWashChronicles ohh because when I go to a self-serve car wash I bring my own buckets I use the water but I won't block customers when I'm done I go move out the way and plus I live in an apartment so that's why I go and plus those brushes that's all cervical car washes actually scratch vehicles because they fall on the floor if you never knew that
