This is great advice, and very useful. Many people will feel the urge to go to a store and buy all sort of chemicals to "help". And of course also more water because plants need water after all. Hope this gets to as much people as possible.

@@growingwisdom HI, SO I PURCHASED A 9 FT BARE-ROOT MIMOSA TREE (from TYTY nursery....) ....Anyway, I planted it back on March 29TH OF THIS YEAR, .......AND THERE IS STILL NO LEAF/OR BUD....I DID PERFORM THE BARK SCRATCH TEST AROUND April 30TH----THE CAMBIUM WAS GREEN!!!!!! .....BUT HERE IT IS """"""LATE MAY EARLY JUNE"""""" AN THERE IS NO STILL NO LEAF/BUD......I AM THINKING ABOUT DOING ANOTHER SCRATCH TEST....BUT I GUES I AM A LITTLE NERVOUS OF THE RESULT.. .....ANOTHER REASON I AM CONCERNED, IS BECAUSE OF ALL THE """EXTREMELY NEGATIVE"""" REVIEWS FOR TYTY NURSERIES-------ONE VERY EXPERIENCED GARDENER INFORMED ME THAT MOST BARE ROOT TREES TAKE ALOT LONGER TO ROOT OR TRANSITION ....BECAUSE THEY'RE GROWING ALL NEW ROOTS... ..AN ONCE THAT HAPPENS, THEN I SHOULD SEE SOME LEAVES......DO YOU AGREE.....??--------

Hey Dave I didn’t watch this video and I did fertilize my eastern redbud. I used “Bioadvanced Tree & Shrub. I guess it’s a waiting game now. Mine too is overwatered.

Hi Dave🙋♀️. I love watching your videos I always learn something helpful or get inspired to start a new garden project. Have you considered doing update videos for some of your previous ones? I know that I would love to see what became of your magnolia or sky pencil with ice damage. Thanks for sharing your wisdom 😉

I m new to gardening, new from zero experience. So sad to see my first baby okame cherry tree dying right in front of me. And my bamboo tree too... What a discouraging feeling. But thanks for the vid. I was debating if I should water more

Check out Robert Pavlis and Linda Chalkwell Scott. Also check out the following link: hort.ifas.ufl.edu/woody/documents/BMP-container-production.pdf Learn from all the above and you will become more knowledgeable than most professional gardeners. Good luck from the UK

Would your advice also apply to pest-induced stress? I just planted some apple trees and the japanese beetles have eaten almost all of the leaves off. I was thinking that fertilizing would help force out new growth... Good idea or bad? I would love your opinion! I'm worried that they might not make it, and I'm not sure what to do. 🙁

Thanks Dave, I think I over water my large new magnolia and have the same problem as this tree. I’m gonna take your advise and hope it survives

Hello I am experiencing the same thing with my young magnolia tree. Did yours happen to make it or should I pluck the tree and start over?
@padredemishijos12 Жыл бұрын
My solution for excess water in the roots is to plant a willow by the roots. Take a willow branch, and impale it in the soil by the root ball. It will absorbe the excess water. Once the Magnolia tree is established, you can remove the willows. The willows serve as a sponge.
@edwardwhite2213 жыл бұрын
trees fine. roots were not prepped properly so this tree will slow root. the leaves are a sign its alive. no need to scratch it. whoever planted this tree didnt unwrap the root ball most likely and its probably in shallower soil.

How interesting and useful. One question, sir, can’t a tree be stressed out because it doesn’t have enough nutrition and wouldn’t that call for fertilizer? I just fertilized my 2 foot tall tulip tree because the leaves were getting brown and it’s almost fall so I thought it was a good idea. Should a scrape the manure off its base or will it be ok? Thank you

I sent a pic of my pathetic amelanchier lamarckii to the seller & he said to prune it. So I have pruned it hard this morning and left it alone. On reflection maybe the seller gave me the wrong advice. Should just leave it alone. It’s still alive with green beneath its skin but it has all sorts of issues like full-on mildew on arrival last autumn & now full-on rusts, leaf miners, aphids, you name it with all manner of pests-attracted to it. No flowering. I only have 1 question: if it’s not dying but looks like it so & also look unhealthy, why not dig it up since it is inherently weak & replace it with a more robust specie? What are the pros and cons?

I planted a mexican sycamore a few weeks ago. The leaves it came with all turned brown and have started falling off. Thankfully some new leaves are starting to grow in. Should I remove all of the dead brown leaves or leave them alone?

Hi Dave, I'm having this same problem, but never knew that this could be the issue. My "Landscaper", planted 5 Bradford Pears over 7yrs ago. I contacted him about this & he claims, there ALL the same type of trees, but couldn't explain why this is... Three of the 5 are now massive & full,.. But Two of these 5 are thinner structured, they Bloom later, & throughout the Summer season,.. never get as bushy or full as the other 3. All 5 seems to get taller each year, but the 2 are shorter than the other 3. Are there similar trees to the Bradfords' that coulda been a mixup when purchasing the trees?..

Our new tree has drooping yellowish brown leaves. Can I pull them off the tree? Can I pull them off with pruners or my hands?
@growingwisdom3 жыл бұрын
leave them alone, let them fall naturally.

i think my tree is ober water, how much time should i wait before watering again?
@ReyderRisco3 жыл бұрын
There is no fixed time, just wait until the 2 top inches of the soil feel dry to the touch. If in doubt wait a couple of more days. Under watering kills in months, over watering kills in weeks or even days.

How long can a young tree survive after being pulled up from where it was planted.
@edwardwhite2213 жыл бұрын
depends on the tree. pines like dry feet. others need wet feet.
@Morpheus00002 жыл бұрын
So basically: check it's not over/under watered and just leave it.
