The guns been around longer than that. 91/30 just the most popular of all The models. Guns been around since 1891 for the imperial Russian army, used in 40 wars from then til now. You should get yourself one the 7.62x54R is a great round for all of those nasty boar you guys have.
@jeffmussman43794 жыл бұрын
Stu, were’s your sweet spot (kill zone) on a boar broadside? I’ve shot two boars broadside recently than ran off into brush and I never found. The first one never squealed when hit, the second one did. No blood trail on either. Both 50-60 yard shots with 150 grain 7.62x54r which should be plenty of power. I’m starting to think I either lung shot or spine shot both. Thanks
@HuntingwithStu4 жыл бұрын
Head shots are the best as it is all over once you fire. However, the heart shot or even higher anywhere straight into the back of the shoulder is also good. Yes big boars will take a shot even a killing shot and will run 200m then die where you can't find them. A spine shot will drop any animal straight away but often won't kill them either but they wont be going anywhere with a broken spine. You probs hit your boar in the lungs and he would have died within a minute or two but they can go a long way if you don't get the opportunity for a second follow up shot.
@jeffmussman43794 жыл бұрын

Nice setup you have there mate. The scope I have on the 30/06 is a Burris Fullfield II 3 to 9 mate.

Please tell me you didn't let the fox get away?

He did sorry mate. I stuffed it up when I turned on the torch on the rifle. I should have just slowly nailed him without turning the light on as the metallic was so loud.

Heading up to Northern NSW for an annual trip with two Mates in three weeks, for a weeks hunt. Not expecting many, if any Pigs, but will certainly enjoy the break.

Is that .223 or .308 :)? And what’s a good cheap brand for ammo
@HuntingwithStu4 жыл бұрын
It is a 30/06 mate. There is no real cheap ammo. I reload mate.
