I feel specials will be fine not being insanely balanced, as long as they all have some sort of use, and it doesnt rely on special spam.

Yeah, honestly I don't mind if the specials are super strong, as long as they take a long time to charge and cant be spammed. I'd rather have a bunch of 220p strong specials than 180p weak ones. Because the second option leads to spamming them like crazy.

I think they should just incorporate dedicated servers into the game. And work up from there. I think it’s really stupid that we can even pay a cent for online when their big multiplayer shooter has constant disconnects and lag even if you have good internet.

I am ok with old maps coming back but I don't think they should be exactly the same. Nothing as extreme as making it run down and broken but like it has been years since Splatoon 1 in game and that is allot of time for things to change and develop naturally with time. Also is anyone else kinda surprised that Flounder Heights was not the first Splatoon 1 map to be shown off and confirmed since it fits so well with splatsville plaza?

probably showed off museum because it is a very impressive looking map, whereas to the average viewer, flounder heights is a massive box with tall blocks. theres also "3" spinners, two of them having "3" arms and nintendo cant help putting "3" everywhere in their splatoon 3 trailers lol.

Another thing that sucked about hero mode is that even when you COULD use the other weapons on stages after finishing them, most of em sucked cause the stages were built around a specific weapon - yet another thing that octo expansion did right with it’s level design. Like, the octo shower boss or the first stage you play with a charger in splat 2 hero mode is an absolute chore to play with any other weapon.

I feel like the reason most people don't like the idea of "sophisticated transport system" as an excuse to bring back old maps is because it has been stated before that inklings sometimes need to go on trains to certain maps that are much more far away from the center of the hub. I personally don't agree, as we know the splatoon universe changes over time (specially since the addition of octolings into society, which also means octoling tech) and they could have found much more efficient ways to travel to those stages that maybe weren't available 6 years ago from the present. We already saw it with those new spawn machines that float in the air, so why could it not happen with transportation? What I do think however is that it'd be great if they actually tried to "remix" them a little by maybe adding, removing or replacing certain things about the stages, maybe adding new gimmicks, or at the very least some aesthetical change to indicate the passage of time-

Also the chaos thing is kinda silly. Splatoon 2 didn't become a Marie-a-thon just cause she won. and in regards to the story mode, the levels are usually built as puzzles specific to that weapon and as a means to introduce new players to the different weapon types. so i think they should leave it as is

Nothing shown in the first trailer supported the idea of chaos destroying old stages, if there is a desert it doesn't mean the entire world is Mad Max now. It also doesn't make sense for the inhabitants of Splatsville to just copy places from Inkopolis in their area. A sophisticated transport system is a solution that makes most sense

I always thought that the players superjump to the map they play on, and that the maps were all sort of close by so it would only take a couple superjumps to get to, I never really thought of it as them getting a bus or a plane to the map.

I’m one of those weirdos who likes the map rotations, and would like them to keep it. The main reason being that without it, the most popular map/mode combos will get lots of play, and everything else will likely stagnate. You’ll wind up playing the same thing over and over, and burn out on the game that much faster. The rotation system keeps the variety up, and continuously forces you out of your comfort zone, which keeps the game fresh. A possible solution that might appease a wider player base might be to keep the 4 ranked modes from 2, and add 2 or 3 new ones, for 6 to 7 total. Then have 2 modes available each rotation. It would give players more options, but still keep the rotation system. Just a thought

In regards to toning down ink, I would say hopefully not too much. Tone down shooters ink OR increase shooter ink usage. They’re really the only weapon class that can just put out a constant stream of ink with little weakness.

I think being mad about maps returning and not having a solid lore explanation as to why they're coming back is just kinda dull. keep in mind that a lot of things are made/brought into the game simply cuz the developers want it to. When things are made, lore isn't always in the back of the developer's head, ideas spawn and are then implemented into the lore. Would it be nice if everything had a good explanation? of course, but it's not gonna happen all the time. it's a fictional world, there's always bound to be inconsistencies. plus, in a sense, it's not really appropriate to categorize 'what maps are back in-game' as lore, because it's all for multiplayer purposes. it's like a 4th wall break type of thing

9:00 Just because we see the Sloshing Machine's model in Hero Mode, it doesn't mean that we'll be able to use regular main weapons. Remember, in Splatoon 2, the Hero Roller's model was a reskinned Carbon Roller and the Hero Brush was a reskinned Octobrush.

I personally wouldn't like to get a map voting system, as it would probably increase the time between (turf war) matches. I mean, it's especially bad in Mario kart 8 where the selector just keep rotating for what feels like 10+ secs every time before a race.

Super jumping is not teleporting it's jumping. Teleporting is disappearing and reappearing somewhere else they don't do that. However they are a pretty advanced society of squid.

Single player character takes for one's we haven't seen: Octavio - Ally Marina - Ally Mr. GRIZZ - Enemy Fuzzy Pearl - Final Boss If I had to guess Marina made an oopsie and created the mammalian goop and Mr. GRIZZ stole a sample of it and started using it on Octarians. Pearl accidentally got infected by it on an investigation mission and turned Fuzzy. Now we have to stop Grizz and save Pearl. Sort of similar to Splatoon 2 but with a different villain and different idol.

Adding to the substrafe take, I dont think they should remove it because it enhances the feel of the game considering the splatoon series has such a massive focus on movement, even more so now with the squid surge and zipcaster. Like the game's foundation is so built on movement that removing substrafing just makes no sense

2:41 i think that's mainly because inklings and octolings have cars, people question why they use cars if they have a "sophisticated transportation system" but i agree with you, whatever this transportation is might be something like public transportation that's extremely fast and isn't something most people have. so yeah basically airplanes, but more advanced. I think the reason some people hate it is because it causes a plot hole in the lore. even though it's basically advanced public transportation.

If we're going to have this advanced system they should at least flesh it out more then just "oh it exists" I'm all for returning stages, and if they do go into more detail about it then great, but from what it is now it just feels more like a lazy excuse to do less work then an actual in-game plot device.

As a left handed person I prefer my character to also be left handed rather then right handed For X if you haven’t played x rank in some time it should automatically drop you out of it Dj octo should start out as the fake main boss we beat in world 3 then the real final boss gets dropped in possible radio like the last two games This then turn DJ octo to our allie and he helps us in some way It’s the usual plot twist Enemy of my enemy is my friend story line but the story line needs this twist like octo expansion got

Not sure if this is a hot take. But I think a persons rank should be tied to their weapon/weapon class rather than which mode their playing. I am never comfortable taking weapons I'm less experienced into ranked mode. Not once have I brought a charger to ranked mode. I know my Splatoon rank won't mean much to me in 5 years. Yet I am still afraid of losing it when playing the game.

it would be interesting if they did a combination of both, I like that rank in this game is based off individual game modes (because in splatoon 1 you shared your rank with all 3 gamemodes), maybe ranking individual weapons could determine more accurate power levels for matches, rather than being determined by your win/lose ratio regardless of what weapon u use

heres a spicy take that i know wont happen but i can dream: since moray is the flagship splatoon map, it'll be the one returning stage that gets shaken up the most by the "chaos" transition, and it'll be a totally new and awesome map! they can even give it a unique gimmick where there's water underneath the towers and halfway through the match the water level changes. it's such a cool idea, i honestly dont know why nintendo hasnt thought about this before...

Hot take: there will be no new ranked mode at release, even after 5 years. I think it will honestly be a year and a half or so before we get a new mode, kind of like clam blitz was. I also think we’re only getting one new ranked mode in the life span of the game. Sad truth 😪

Who knows? Maybe the player can get weapon blueprints for Sheldon in hard-to-find areas like a necessary crate to jump up something, or just blend in, and when you beat the stage, you can leave the story area, and then give it to Sheldon for a new weapon you can buy from him, and then all the other companies start making their kinds. One of the weapons could be a mid-range flamethrower, that could work like Sting Ray, but way less range, and another could be a marksman rifle. It's a charger that goes very far, one hits, and pierces through players, but uses a quarter of your ink a shot. Maybe there could be subs and specials that are harder to find.

Not sure what the replacement would be for rotations, just random map/mode each map? If it allowed players to switch gear/weapons before the match started then that could be cool. One problem with this though is some people do not like certain modes and of course certain maps so that could be frustrating. I would just like to see the map count increased to 3 per rotation. My hot take is the new movement options won't impact the game very much, I hope I'm wrong on that though, I want to see new mechanics that add more depth to the game and up the skill ceiling.

In defense of removing sub strafing, I can't think of a good reason why there should advanced movement tech tied to something as weird and unintuitive as holding down the sub weapon button. It makes very little sense, it's difficult to get the hang of, and the game *never tells you about it.* Just make sub strafing movement the default, without having to hold R to do it.

Mirrored stages aren't the only thing making it impossible to peek right side sometimes. We don't use the left and right dpad buttons, it feels like being able to switch which side your inkling hold the weapon on mid-match wouldn't detract from the game and wouldn't be hard to implement in terms of controls. Obviously dev time would have to be put in, but as somebody who likes to be xd random quirky lol I would love to make my OC a left-handed octoling

Nah man the transfer system kind of feels like a cop-out, lore-wise. If we don't physically see any of these transporters in-game that's even dumber. "Yo how did we get all the way from [France] to [Japan] in under 10 seconds?" "Technology." "But doesn't this break every part of the lore, since people could just teleport to work or wherever they want in 2 seconds? And if this is too high tech for that why is it being used for Turf War? And are we paying them for this, shouldn't we keep businesses local?" "Idk bruh just play." They could have had this thing where it's the old map, but you can tell it's just a replica the inklings made purely for battling. Like the paintings are just painted on the walls, they aren't real. I don't really care either way but transportation at super-sonic speed/teleportation? I hope it's the kettles at least...

are the current stages not spread out, backgrounds are usually entirely different? Coins and buying things never made sense anyway you can't buy drinks. Most problems you can have with a new transport system you can apply to normal games. It never made sense in the first place.

It's not ever stated how long it takes to get to them anyway, so it's reasonable to assume it took a few minutes (with super-jumping) to get there. And it's likely that many inklings could be gathered at these locations at once, so they don't need to take a trip every time they battle for like 5 minutes. It's been stated with no question that this new transportation takes only a few seconds... Even 10 minutes would be reasonable, if they were using kettles from the Octarians... And please, "it's a game it doesn't have to make sense?" Real world physics may not apply, but if the game is going to have world building it has its own physics to follow. "Magic" or "technology" only makes sense if the game is consistent about it or makes it a minor part that can be forgotten from suspension of disbelief...

I really hope the net code is better in splat 3, I feel like lag sometimes determines the fate of the battle. Also, I think it would be cool to choose two different weapon kits, and be able to switch between them mid-game, this would solve many disadvantage situations, like choosing a sniper and a sploosh so you can paint, get kills, and not die constantly.

2:42 people are made because it not a good excuse for going back to older maps, Nintendo could’ve said that the newer inklings wanted to get their maps back after getting tired of the desert scenery and while you still have they of who would build it I think it makes more sense than what why got this also means that not all maps would just be destroyed versions of themselves and maybe we could get things like moray towers built on two volcanic air vents even though it’s a pretty basic idea and no one like that map I think it’s an interesting idea that allows them to fix maps and bring them back better than before

i really like and agree with your old stages shouldnt be brought back take, inkopolis was the same before and after chaos won, its not like chaos went and destroyed everything, and why would a developing region (splatsville) have a whole ass museam? idk

Old stages on a new game felt similar though it wasn't exact but it filled a gap.

This is my fun prediction is that the Glooga Dualies is going to be one of the top use weapons for Splatoon 3. Because I want it shine a lot more than it has in Splatoon 2. Like for example the Ink Brush wasn’t getting any use in S1, but in S2 it finally gets some use? Mark my words IF it does actually happen.

I think that there should be wildcard rotations like in salmon run, maybe a couple times a day or more. it would keep things fresh imo

I know that this idea gets a lot of hate but I think that if splatoon 3 made their story mode somewhat like titanfall 2 it would be much more loved and popular(obviously change some mechanics).

Hot Take: I hope none of the Splat 2 maps return in Splat 3 (except for Reef and maybe Albacore and Snapper with reworks). Splatoon 2's map design philosophy of "a rectangle with obstacles that you play around to get an advantage" wont be that good in Splat 3 because of big bubbler. The way you push on these maps is to throw all of your resources onto whatever obstacle gives you advantage to force the ememy off of it (Example: Left and Right stacks on Mako) and then take those positions to gain control. This works in Splat 2 because there's no way to hold your ground against something like missiles or ray or bomb rush. However, Splat 3 has big bubbler, which can let you hold your ground, which will make it way more difficult to push on maps like that.

I only think Museum A’lfonso would fit in with the lore of the game and all the other maps if the Splatoon 3 team made the stages more chaotic such as making a stage more chaotic. When you compare Scorch Gorge with this map, the theme of the map makes it look totally different to Museum A’lfonso.

My hot take on these takes: 1. Splat 3 seems a LOT more promising than 1 and 2 were on launch 2. Moray isn't TERRIBLE, i wouldn't mind it. Mahi is overrated in my opinion but the more stages the better generally. Returning stages are fun (I hope they bring back flounder heights) 3. Netcode is probably gonna stay the same 4. I actually don't like the idea of map voting, mainly because there are some stages i love (walleye) that would get voted a lot less than others 5. There's no way they get rid of substrafing 6. Not gonna lie, I actually LOVE skipper pavilion, I'd like to see them try and fix right peeking and keep mirror stages 7. I think the movement is gonna be great! So long as it hits a sweet spot where it's punishable but not splashdown it should be fine 8. I do wish they'd allow groups of 3 in league, but I understand how that would be a logistical nightmare since there'd be one leftover spot so it definitely wouldn't be something they'd change 9. I actually didn't notice the sloshing machine, might mean there are more octo-expansion style stages but being able to use every main weapon would be dope. That said, gotta disagree about Mr Grizz being "too obvious" when hypnotized callie was literally on the boxart for splat 2 10. I think thematically the story is going to touch on the necessity of both chaos and order to live in harmony, so it wouldn't make sense to not have any semblance of familiarity in the game. Also there's no way there are no unrevealed specials or subs, there are probably new things they'll show closer to launch (or add post-launch) 11. I think it's actually good to be forced to play a weapon SOMETIMES. Particularly in the case of new players, (which splatoon 3 will attract lots of) it helps them learn things about the weapons and movement so that they won't suck (as much) online initially 12. I think goo tuber should be left behind, it's awful 13. Agree with points for special being raised, but it's satisfying to be able to paint quickly 14. Agree with everything said here, trailer analysis is a LOT of fun and adds a lot to the hype cycles of games for me personally

unpopular opinion but i like it when they make you choose a weapon in hero mode because i think that it helps new players get familiar with multiple weapon and play styles, and i think it also can help players find new weapons to main that they wouldnt have even thought about choosing in the first place.

once main weapons need different kits to be different, its not distinct main weapons, its just subs and specials being different inherently

Please no rotations at all. I have time for like 2 rotations a day because of school now and if they are both bad I can't play the game for the day.
