Just got my S95B this morning and been playing some Netflix, Prime Video, Direct TV which those all look great. Bright Vivd, excellent contrast definitely step up from my Sony A8H, but probably not night and day but an improvement for sure by overall brightness and contrast, shadow detail is impressive. But then put in a 4k HDR movie and hold one, OMG. Watched "Ghost in the Shell" and was blown away by that movie, have never seen it look like that before. The colors were something to behold. The smallest of details like catch lights in the eyes on close up face shots bring whole new level of realism to the picture unlike anything I ever seen. After watching 4K movies with this there is no way I could ever go back to a traditional WRGB OLED. Samsung you rock, QD OLED is the future for now anyway.

Here's an advice for anyone who is serious about purchasing: It's best to visit the store in person and checking it out personally. Don't entirely depend on these KZbin videos, just use them as reference because I saw another video comparing the same 2 TV's and QD OLED looked brighter. So, lot of factors come in like camera used for recording, personal preference etc etc. We can't totally rely on these references when it's actually thousands of dollars on the line!!!! As soon as we engaged game-mode 6:00 the Neo-QLED completely collapsed in it's tracks. I have the QN95A 75 inch with 1000 LD zones, and have made alot of comparisons between game-mode and filmmaker mode (both modes professionally calibrated with 2pt interval Whitebalance and custom DCI-P3 color space) As per Rtings measurements the peak-brightness is slightly reduced inside Game-mode, but my findings is actually that the reduction in PQ extends far beyond that. If you engage freesync or just any form of 120hz mode it gets really ugly, as response time drops and the LD algorithm has less milliseconds to process each frame. Inside game-mode, because of fast response times, the local dimming algorithm can't keep up, and LD is somewhat nerfed, resulting in imagery appearing less contrastful, slightly boring. It just appeared to me very clearly at 6:00 that the QD-OLED suddenly had an even bigger lead, as game-mode is activated.

@Tech With KG thanks for this comparison. I've been waiting two years to get a television for my bedroom. I was gonna get the Qn90b 50inch and use it as a monitor. Now that the S95B has come out and it's so amazing, I'm beginning to reconsider. The only thing is that because QD-OLED is in it's infancy stages, I know that it will have issues that might be detected right off the back, and I know it has so much room to grow. QLED is reaching its pinnacle. I think I'm still gonna go with the Qn90b this year and wait until 2024 to get a QD-OLED from Samsung. Thanks again for the comparison.

or wait another year and get Sony A90K next year when another model comes out and have the best TV around. True, tech evolves, but not in leaps and bounds but very incrementally. On the other hand, if you get QN90B now, it's so good you might not even need another TV for 3-4 years. 50" is way too small now, size matters more than anything else, 77" is the new 65" and 65" is about as small as you can go to still have an immersive experience. People sometimes say they don't have room for a larger TV but c'mon, get a new TV stand or just wall mount the damn thing. You'll regret buying a 50 incher.

For A $300 price difference I can't see any use case reason to pick the QN90B over the S95B unless that person is an LED fanboy for some reason. This is coming from a person who chose LED over OLED last year due to having a bright room. If I were to do it over again and they had at least 75 inch sizes I would pick the QD-OLED without a 2nd thought.

I think some still might pick the LCD because they are some people that will never stop worrying about burn in. I also think there are some very bright rooms where QN90B would fair better. LCD will also still hit the highest highlights of all. However theres not a big trade off anymore so going QD OLED is the smartest choice picture quality wise. I think someone can find more reasons to get an LCD over QD OLED than to get a WOLED over a QD OLED, I can't find any reasons to do that (prices and size constraints aside).

I have the s95b on order.... BUT.. I might be canceling it. My use profile was going to be for PC and Gaming. Despite the QD-LED tech on paper, visually, the QN90B is so much better because of the brightness. Maybe in later generations when the QD-OLEDS get as bright, itll finally be a competitor. I saw alot more details that were crushed on the s95b, I have to be honest. Plus, I won't have to worry about burn in with static windows , etc that are inherent in games. Or deal with uniform brightness . Lastly, at 4k 43 inches the PPI density is going to be hugely better than on 4k 65inches. And I won't have the hassle of trying to pack and move around a 65 inch tv all by myself. I don't think its even safe with how thin the panels are on the OLEDs.
@TorqueFormulaWon
@TorqueFormulaWon 2 жыл бұрын
Indeed, the panels don't need to get any thinner. It is so fragile looking I think one false move eg. Banging a corner or worse dropping it if it needed to be moved would probably shatter the panel. At least lcd/led tvs have a bit more robustness, at least to look at and impact protection... God forbid... I do think smaller displays look better too, likely down to pixel density. I remember my bedroom TV from years ago was a 14 inch and maybe it's rose tinted glasses nostalgia but things looked great and it was CRT too. I think burn in problems are getting less risky with the advent of heat sinks, MLA tech, deuterium stability potentially 5-20x more lifetime than hydrogen and the future of oled is bright. Especially if all the above are combined with quantum dots. Othe exciting things will be nano rods, and electro luminescent (Qdel) quantum dot displays. Blue phosphorescent material too hopefully soon with acceptable lifetime.

Same boat I have an 11 year old plasma which might get a few more years yet.....but i'm already looking for an upgrade. From my research so far the best tvs are WOLED and QD-OLED is the newly released better version. Check out the: - LG G2 which is one of the brighter WOLEDs if you want a big one, comes in 77, 83, and a massive 97 inch coming soon I think. Has a heatsink. - Panasonic LZ 1500/2000 series is one of the best too, comes with heatsink and very bright like G2, one of the best picture quality for a WOLED, up to 77 inch. Only just released. - Sony A90J WOLED from last year comes in 55, 65, 83 inch, very similar to the G2 both have heatsinks to really brighten up HDR movies/tv. Won overwhelmingly TV of year. - Sony A95K is QD-OLED with heatsink. Only just released so don't know yet how it performs, same with S95B. - Samsung S95B is QD-OLED but QD-OLED only come in 55, 65 inch. This QD-OLED is supposed to be brighter and alot cheaper than the Sony A95K, but the Sony has other advantages in processing and probably disadvantages with gaming. Then there is.....if money is almost no object the: - LG Z Series 8K which won the best 8K TV last year. Not sure if it's brighter, I think it might be....8K is rather pointless ATM. Not sure if this has reviews. Or you could step up even higher to the cream of the crop, futuristic, about 2000 nit sustained: - Samsung MicroLED.....only for the very/mega wealthy. Comes in sizes of about 89-400 inches now I think, double check that. Only became available to buy in the last few years for the consumer market. ; ) Works like the best WOLED/QD-OLED, rumored....without any of the issues. Can get very bright like a flagship 4K LCD while maintaining the near infinite contrast of an OLEDs. Nothing else quite like it. You would be set for the next 20 years maybe and still have the best....but this depends on how much QD-OLEDs improve or another technology comes along to surpass it. QD-OLEDs, S95B can hit 1200-1500 nits peak and 215 nits full field and MicroLEDs can get to about 2000/500 or 1800/800 nits I think, check that too. No detailed reviews of this exist I believe. Those are the best TVs I believe, everyone really likes theirs, reviewers rave about them. Hope that helps ; )

I have the qn90b and i have none of the issues you say. Actually if you reduce the brightness to 25 it literally becomes an oled. I also live in a dark room like you say, and let me tell you that if you setup the qn90b properly then you get almost none blooming at all. You just have yo reduce the main brightness level at 25 or even 20. Keep the contrast at 45 or 50, contrast enhancer at low and the main gamma hdr level to -3, local dimming on high, shadow level at -1 or -2, native colour 30 for movies, and 15 for games and you'll be fine. Also for games, just apply the same settings on the game mode. Always Keep your brightness level low, as it ruins the overall picture if it's too high.

Many people have misunderstanding about what it is the difference between QLED and OLED. Which is that QLED don't have any advantage when you see it in bright room, but its strength of 'color volume', if you look at those vid, you can see QN90B has more vivid and lively picture. That is reason to buy QLED TVs.

does the Mini LED Backlight work as exped in game mode and with VRR enabled? older full array backlit tvs often either turned off local dimming or downfraded it severely with game mode on and ESPECIALLY with VRR

Kg you're missing one fundamental point when comparing these 2 tvs: qn90b exists in sizes bigger then 65" and there are lots of people who want to go bigggg

True I should have brought that up in regards to this years models thats my fault. However to those same people I would say no worries 77" QD OLED is coming next year.

@@TechWithKG 77" still got nothing on a 85" screen, it's disappointing they are just coming with 77" in 2023.Will take yet another year to actually make me consider QD OLED.

Thanks for telling us the number of Local Dimming Zones on the LCD... 🙄

Normal LCD TVs have no dimming zones at all so it's a interesting information as more dimming zone makes better contrast

Doesn't the QN90b suffer from reduced local dimming in game mode? How does that factor in when compared to the S95b?

It’s game mode slightly impact the local dimming. I’d say it’s 90% effective still. It’s really good and the absolute best local dimming on any LCD tv. Much better to get slightly worse dimming in game mode than burn in again on another oled.

My best friend bought the S95B just before Christmas 2022. It is wall mounted in a moderately bright room. He doesn't understand what the brightness issue is about because the factory setting was way too bright for his taste and so he turned the brightness down. "Not bright enough" is probably not going to be a problem for anyone who buys this panel. Additionally, I just did a comparison of the S95B with a QN90B and the LG G2 at Best Buy. I was looking for all the cons mentioned in all reviews. The S95B would occasionally display their name and Logo on screen during demo content. I have to report that this was the only panel during the comparison which had obvious bloom around the bright white 'Samsung' text. I thought that the QD OLED was supposed to eliminate bloom altogether. It does not.

I can’t tell you if it’s worth it for you but if you can justify the price difference than it’s definitely better if you value HDR highly.
