The thing i found about brightness is that if your TV is too bright (like the QN90), you can always turn it down. If your TV isn't bright enough, there's nothing you can do to make it brighter

Definitely. I have the QN90C and keep it on 35 brightness when watching in the evening/night, with active tone mapping on. This way I can turn it up during the day or even during the night when certain movies are very dark (which is a lot of them these days).

Hi KG, would you mind to add in a set of scenes for your upcoming oled vs mini led? 1) White background with different black font, grey font, static with various size for 3 sec. 2) Put a few lines of color bar vertically from left to right. Will there be any color/brightness change on the fonts? 3) Black background with different white font, grey font. 4) Put a few lines of color bar vertically from left to right. 5) A sudden change of timing with random fonts of white background to black background. A demo films is calculated to hide the bads and show the goods, with this, its easy to see if the content is being artificial dims, brightness changed, and color lost.

I use my 43" 90c as a monitor and whenever I leave for an 1.5 hours or more the tv doesn't recognize that my computer is on. I then have to restart the computer so the tv gets that handshake. Now I just do a remote reset by holding down the power button for 5 seconds and that tells the tv that the computer is on. I have all the right 2.1 HDMI cords and all screen savers are off for the TV/Computer. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere? Will it hurt the tv if I do the remote reset a couple of times a day?

This was one of the best comparisons of the two technologies (QLED and OLED). You can really see the differences in different conditions. I'm torn on which one to use. Love how colors just pop when scenes are dark on OLED, but the C3 (OLED) isn't nearly as bright as the QN90C in bright scenes (QLED). Leaning on the QN90C for general purpose (both PC productivity as well as gaming).

On the QN90C Movie mode has Local Dimming set to Standard by default. I have switched that to High and some bright highlights have dropped, but also white backgrounds and colors are quite darker. To my eye it looks like the Standard option makes everything too bright and un-natural (I'm just looking at my Apple TV app launcher and comparing the colors on the app icons like KZbin, Netflix with what I know they should be or what they are on my phone). Also, high local dimming reduces blooming so I would rather have this than very bright highlights. But what I don't understand is why Standard and High look exactly the same when active tone mapping is off (or in FMM). Any thoughts on that?

Saw these 2 side by side in a store. 48 inch c3 and 50 inch qn90c. As the demo video cycled through sports, movie, animation etc the c3 was better every time. Also the qn90c had terrible viewing angles. Moving just slightly off centre and the picture immediately started to look washed out. Bought the c3. At first I was disappointed that the picture seemed quite dim until i switched off auto pixel brightness and wow! As bright as you could ever want.

I just want to put this here, don’t trust anyone who says modern oled’s wont have burn in. They will, they just happen to be less than a year old and don’t have that opportunity unless being heavily used for gaming (stagnant things like a minimap will 100% cause burn in). Next, remember due to OLED nature, it will also dim and lose saturation over time even if you don’t use it. Organic things break down, and there isn’t much you can do about it. If you want to have an OLED for all that it offers above specifically nano led tech, be prepared to buy a new one every 3-5 years with very little resale value, or your tv will be worse than almost all LED TV’s, not even nano ones. That’s the OLED tax, being replaced.

With all 4 tvs comparison at the end, each tv has it moments where it is better than the others. Factor in price and viewing conditions and the tvs upsides and downsides. I like Samsung qnqleds, but is the qn90b better than the qn90c for blooming and contrast ? I did see the blooming on the qn90c. If the qn90b is better, let me know, because to me, the prices on the qn95c are going to be too high , if the qn90c is inferior to this year's qn90b, let me know, I will get one before they're gone. OLEDS and QDOLEDS seem like they are too complicated to deal with and I watch TV in a bright room during the day and in a very dark room at night which a qnqled is suited for both.

@@VeteranGamer_ This is why after agonising for months over OLED vs mini led, I am going mini LED. The final straw was seeing what happened - after only 700 hours - to that widescreen 21:9 Dell OLED that Rtings tested with 16:9 content (so black bars left and right). It had permanent burn-in due to the black bars. And black bars are something I will always have since 95% of my content is either 4:3 (about 50%) or 1.85:1 - 2.4:1 (about 45%). Only 5% would actually fill a 16:9 screen properly.

This is excellent for people like me torn between the two technologies. Can anyone advise if I were to adopt a C3 / C4 OLED and watch 4:3 content only ever in a pitch black environment (so the brightness can be significantly lowered) would I need to be concerned with black bar burn in?
@TheDeathstar2000
@TheDeathstar2000 27 күн бұрын
Black bar pixels are off, therefore they do not encour the risk of burn in. Oled is actually recommended to watch that type of content because the black bars are a part of the tv that has been turned off, instead of the really dark grey an LCD shows in place of the black bars, granted the mini led FALD is better than most LCDs in that regard. You do however want to make sure what settings are the best for FALD in your use case, since, as said in the videos, game mode, for example, doesn't take advantage of the complete full array local dimming capabilities of the tv

I am waiting for the QN QLED 95C ,possibly be the best and last of the best QN QLEDS. I don't consider Hisense mini leds until they have much better processors.

@@charlesmyers8150 if you want the best led I'd probably say the Sony x95k, it should be a reasonable price by now. From my experience, although I prefer the Samsung motif, it's local dimming is sometimes too aggressive, especially in gaming. I'd rather just live with a slight extra bloom personally. I had and really liked the QN 95a and I know it was rated higher than the Sony but the local dimming issues were just too much sometime and it was miles cheaper than the Sony at the time, like nearly half the price

@MillisecondFalcon
@MillisecondFalcon Жыл бұрын
It would be really helpful if you could compare the 42\43 inch versions, as these are more likely to be used for gaming or as a monitor. I think Samsung have stuck with the VA panel on the QN90C. I would be keen to know if the ghosting problem that plagued last year's model has been reduced or fixed. Plus it would be good to see if the C3 has any noticeable improvement at the smaller screen size, seeing as they are also using the same panel as last year. Thanks 🙂

I'll say the tv does provide a great picture. Love the brightness and color. PS5 looks great and the colors on the Nintendo Switch look amazing. My issue is the backlight bleed. I had back light bleed. Showed a pic of it to a member of bestbuys geek squad and he said he would return it so I did. The replacement had even worse backlight bleed. You don't always see it but it's something that can worsen. I've seen other people show photos of theirs with less then mine amd complaining yet I'd settle with what they had. Guess I'll be either exchanging it again or move up to the LG C3. I got it for $600 off so I'd prefer to keep this model for that reason and it is a great tv otherwise. Coming from a 2017 LG B7P OLED

I don't understand why the C3 looks so dimmed down, especially when gaming. I have an older OLED (E6) but with OLED Lightness set at 100 its so damn bright, very different compared to some of the comparisons here, more like the VIVID mode, although I don't even use that one. Also the new OLED's can go brighter than mine so I just don't understand. Then another thing I noticed, the image on the C3 looks way sharper. Almost like 4K vs 1090P. Is this purely a camera or angle issue here, or is the QN90C seriously this blurry!?

Be very wary of OLED for games. Due to stagnant things like the HUD or minimap, and gaming’s naturally long sessions, burn in will happen. Vivid is just a shitty blue color temperature. I don't see the appeal. It sounds like all you're interested in his viewing something that is subjectively the brightest you can possibly get it which means you might as well just stick with an LCD turned all the way up because an old what is never going to be that bright and comparison. Nor you doing any kind of critical viewing where you might need it.
@DavidBrown-eo3hw
@DavidBrown-eo3hw Жыл бұрын
Not exactly. First, tvs are subjective. You like what you like. There is no right or wrong way to watch tv. Second. If you watch these lcd vs oled comparisons that KG does, the oleds look like you are wearing sunglasses when there is natural light, ice, snow, etc. He even mentions oleds deficiency in this type of content. I watch sports, old movies in sdr, Christmas movies, etc. I want it to look realistic, not dim. Ive always wanted an oled for the contrast, but they are just too dim for me. I thought maybe the G3 might look close to an lcd in vivid mode.
