Baldwin Hamilton pianos rock...that's what we had in the practice rooms at Otterbein College (Westerville, Ohio) where I studied...amazing pianos. I was lucky enough to buy one at auction here in my town when they tore down the old high school. Built like a tank, hold their tuning forever, and great tone...a studio piano that I prefer over a bunch of higher priced pianos I have played over the years. when you guys are talking about the spectrasonics 610 I realized what Joe does with his is similar to what Andrew Scheps did with his setup, going into a transient designer then to the comp top get more length out of the snare...Great minds think alike! I very much dig both of those guys...good stuff!!
@mikewallace12704 жыл бұрын
Shane I think Tom lord algae demonstrated a similar trick in the Mix with the Masters Namm 2018 video. He used a transit designer plug-in that was previously a hardware piece and cut off the front of the snare, another words very slow attack, and increased the sustain fully. Then he ran it through a compressor. And blended it back with the original snare track. He called it the “ping” snare sound.

Not including the SSL desk. _(but I happen to know, that there are over 3,000 on his console..)_ And that doesn't include all the knobs on the gear in the Live room, and all the amplifiers either. That's an awful lot of buttons & pots to clean, de-crackle and service. And you have to wonder how many times those 13,000 buttons and knobs have been pressed and turned over their lifetimes..!! Keep up the good work Warren. Such an awesome interview, and awesome series of videos. Thank you.

Brilliant video, as usual. Thanks Warren! I'd be interested in Joe's workflow: how does he integrate such a massive collection of hardware into his console-oriented mixing process without it becoming over-complicated?

Hi Warren! Thanks for another great video! Pete Townshend used to run his 1066 loaded BCM 10 into two LA-3As. I personally think the LA-3A is excellent, especially on the mix bus. Pete Townshend is also a fan of the LA-4A. I must concur regarding the Waves Helios and PYE emulations. (Waves Eddie Kramer Tape, Tubes & Transistors.)

Hi +67Stu Great stuff! Yes I love the LA 3A, I'm actually using one as I type on a Classical guitar with Greg Suran! Have a marvellous time recording, many thanks Warren

Hey Warren! Great video, thanks! If i'm not mistaken, that little broadcast Neve is a 54 series. They are often incorrectly called "Kelso." (which is more like a Melbourne). I'm reaching the stage in my career where I've forgotten more than I know, so I could be wrong! Keep up the great work.

"Guitar pedals are the poor man's outboard gear", I love that! So in this sense I also have a lot of outboard gear, haha. Shame we didn't get to see Joe's pedal collection, but I guess the video would have become twice as long, then... maybe in the next video? I have a small Laney LC15 (limited edition) tube combo that I love. I changed the transformer, tubes and the speaker, and that made it sound even better. You can set the gain relatively low and cranck up the volume instead, to get power amp distortion. It's a great and affordable recording amp. Many thanks, David

David Mood radial makes a 500 series module to run a signal through pedals and back. I find it utterly indispensable.
