They definitely not the same. I can't compare them, but just by looking the video I already spotted difference. The needle bar holder or socket, whatever it's called, for 8700 is from yellow metal, on this one it's gray. You may think that it's not important, but that is actually part that will wear out first on your machine, so technology used there will effect life of your machine. What's the difference between gray and yellow? I don't know.

Which out of the 8100 or 8700 is more quiet and has less vibrations? Or are they about the same? I have extreme Hyperacusis/ ear issues and I know I can use the 8700. But wondering is 8100 the same, more quiet, or louder?
