Here’s my perspective, I have had the Sony 6400, ZV1, ZvE1, LUMIX g9ii - used it for KZbin videos and light b-roll - I kept selling them trying to look for something - and realized there was very little I needed - the rest was overkill - I needed light, stabilized, good in low light, simple to use - all of the other features - I simply never used - they just made me feel better that I had them - that’s why this camera (I am having shipped) was an unexpected perfect fit - and especially the camera app is a huge bonus - it’s definitely for a unique market - I’m very excited to begin using it

To me s9 is not controversial at all its the same kind of camera as sony a7c but with better video features and no one ever complained about the sony. Lots of lumix haters out there thats all.

It's not like an a7c at all, that camera has a viewfinder and mechanical shutter, and I think a hot shoe. The S9 has none, because if you're moving up from a smart phone you never had them.

I really love this video. Love both of your perspectives. The fact that a videographer wants to take more stills and a photographer wants to do more video for some reason speaks to me. I’ve watched many reviews over the past months on what I should get. I saw this cam and Lowkey fell in love. Then I saw all the hate and it discouraged me. I held the s9 at BH photo store and it’s great in hand. The s5ii ( was my original choice) is bigger and heavier than I thought. I want to shoot stills and get into short films for now. Do you think this would be good for someone who has zero camera experience and still using an iPhone 8plus 😅?

This camera is a great option for someone looking into an easy work flow for both video and photo. You are losing a ton of functionality that you may eventually want in the S5ii. But it is a fun, small camera that is designed for content creators. Hopefully, they will remove or up the camera record limits and then I would recommend it even more. But it has made photos more fun for me like you said!

@@MatthewDangyou If they lower the price, add an actual grip and not one you have to purchase yourself, and up the recording limit. it would be better. random thought🧐 ; I think it would have been better if it was apsc( the s9). It would have made the lens smaller and would have allowed for more space in the body to implement the things that they say couldn't have fit the body( grip, evf, headphone jack, hotshoe and maybe even 2 card slots). it could have given them a chance to have an actual apsc lineup.

Here's my perspective; Review cameras based on what the camera is aimed for, instead of Pro's POV all the time. You can't call an entry-level/fun-centric camera "crippled" just because it doesn't have "basic pro features", and pro-cameras "overpriced" for having non-begginer friendly features. It doesn't make any sense. Put ourselves in the target market's shoes instead.

For sure! That is how I made my review on the camera on my channel👍🏻 but that is also why there is a lot of backlash on this camera too😂🤷🏼♂️
