Great video - Vision so important . I like many players have a vision astigmatism. Could you weigh in , for pickle ball sports glasses 1. A single vision lens prescription… or 2. Progressive 2-fields of vision . Many thanks 👓

I wish I had a good answer for this. I wear contacts myself and have tried many pairs of glasses to protect my eyes on the court. I’ve yet to find any I can wear comfortably that don’t change my vision slightly. Would love for someone else to weigh in on this!

I strongly recommend correctly refracted, single vision distance glasses for pickleball. I can't tell you how many players I meet who use monovision contacts -- and wonder why they can't manage the fast game in pickleball! We must have accurate 3D vision! Moreover, progressive glasses, unless very large frames, warp our 3-dimensional perception as we look down at low (most!) shots. I've seen excellent players lack the ability to re-direct the ball at the opponent's hip, because they must look down through the top of progressive glasses. Do yourself a favor. Single, distance vision for sports. Thick frames, with impact-resistant lenses.....

Buck, as a practicing optometrist and player, Matthew's advise is dead on. You can find a pair of sports frames that will provide good peripheral vision.

Awesome video, I've been stuck on groundstroke also due to never playing a racquet sport before. This will definitely help me and help me teach my son. Thanks

Aye! Congrats on 1k, Shea! It's awesome to see your channel grow and, honestly, it's partially inspired me to begin some pb content creation on my own. ;) I've found myself in such a similar spot with my groundstrokes, it was like I was hitting a brick wall with that specific aspect of my game. Never got them quite right. I'll have to try out these techniques when I hit the court again this week. Thanks for the quality upload

Cheers mate, appreciate your support along the way! You should totally start making content, it’s been such a rewarding experience and really makes me critique my own game as I spend countless hours reviewing footage. Let me know if you make something ✌️

Good instructional video. Matthew's an excellent player. I've had the pleasure of playing and drilling with him when he visited SWFL.

Some comments aren’t showing up, idk why. Comment - “In the forehand groundstroke, would Matthew advocate ‘clearing the table’ with the non-dominant hand to facilitate body rotation” Answer - As a kicker, I always wanted as much rotation of my hips as possible to generate more power; however, in pickleball, Matthew has talked to me extensively about “checking my rotation”. Meaning using my non dominant hand to stop the rotation of my hips after contact so that my body is balanced and ready for the next shot.

Hi, Student here. I’ve never played tennis before. I was a football kicker in college. I’ve played pickleball for almost 2 years.

@@sheaunderwood Ok, makes a little more sense..you've got a sports background and time on the courts. Your ground strokes aren't an issue, now I know why. That said, this is a good video, especially the "sweep off the table". I thought it was my invention..🙃 Take care.
