I'm changing out the rear deck speakers on my 1993 Nissan Gloria and was trying to figure out how to reuse the factory white Nissan speaker plugs rather than splicing wires. Hey regardless of what the haters are saying, it’s a decent technique and from what I could see done pretty well. The only thing I would correct you on is the fact that you say head units can put out up to 20-25 watts/channel. This is incorrect. No single din size head unit can put out more Than the input voltage. This is because they all lack a component called a DC to DC converter, which basically steps up the internal working voltage. This can be verified using Ohm’s law. And again, your basic DIN head is not nearly big enough to contain these components. So in the future I would recommend keeping this proven theory in mind when referring to RMS power. Other than that great job.

Actually, head units have been using bridged mode amplifier chips since the 80's. That gives the amp the ability to use almost the whole 13.8 volts that's typical in a modern automotive environment. That equates to around 23 watts with a 4-ohm speaker. Also, the technique he demonstrated was senseless. The only reason to do that would be if one wanted to reinstall the original speakers at some point. But since he cut off, (and butchered), the plug, that won't happen. Putting the standard spade lugs that almost all aftermarket speakers, (including the ones he's installing), use, would have taken a minute or two. Then, future speaker replacement would have been truly plug-'n-play. I assume he's charging his customer for his time and effort. No one is being a "hater" for pointing out inefficient, and unprofessional, techniques. Part of the reason for me pointing this out is that I made the same mistake over 30 years ago when I wanted my "pro" installation to look "cool." Then, when the customer came back with a blown speaker, I realized I had voided his warranty by soldering that connector directly to the speaker. ;-)

@@bnellynel hmmm interesting. I would love to hear/see how you tested this theory. Many low end manufacturers will claim that their head unit can put out 20-25 watts PEAK, but that is very different from RMS power. Do you own an oscilloscope? Are you well versed in Ohm’s Law? Well unless you can answer yes to either question, sorry buddy, but there’s simply no way to test how many watts your getting on the output side. Also, the multi-meter trick doesn’t work in this situation. So feel free to enlighten me in your ways, grasshopper.😁

@@artiehall7708 the bridged mode amp trick may increase the power as you mentioned, but also increases distortion proportionately. This is an old trick to increase peak power. No disrespect man, but that configuration is not something you can just clean up with a few capacitors. Personally, I’ll take a clean RMS rating over a super distorted peak rating. What do you think will happen when you go to amplify that signal? You amplify the distortion right along with it. Good luck man.

Hi, my 2018 honda fit seems to have pretty aggressive low frequency cut off on stock head unit as the bass is very lacking so im wondering if its going to affect the sound of the sub amp when using a LOC ?

Normally all I do is cut the wires, solder them to some crimp connections to the speaker, then cover them with shrink wrap. I haven't had a problem since.

That way you are cutting and soldiering is about the famous way to do it as it cuts time and aslong as your decent it'll stay together,which is like what any car audio shop on a time frame will do.. What hes doing is more towards the famcy hi dollar car audio shops will do as it looks more prestigious and like it was meant to be there from factory. Its not something everyone has to know or do .hes just showimg you how to install it like a professional,the longer you install car audio youll find customers at times wont it done a certain way and than you have to explore other avenues.while most the time we can just do the lazy man cut and soldier.

Hi, I have a 2004 XC90 2.5T and recently installed the Hizpo Android Auto unit from AliExpress. However, I encountered two issues: No sound from all left-side speakers. The parking assistant sounds do not beep. After reading the comments, I believe I need to move the pin connector to a different position to solve the first issue. Is this the correct approach? For the second issue, it seems I need to install an additional speaker for the parking assistant sounds. Can you provide a video or instructions on how to connect this speaker? Thank you!

You never want to blow on solder to cool it off, it creates a "lame weld" and can fall off. Always let solder cool on its own.

Your also not supposed to reheat your solder because it will cause it to crack! You should use braided wire to remove old solder then solder your component directly to your device with fresh solder

It would depend if there was a place to solder the terminal onto on the speaker. If you have those spring loaded push terminals on the speaker I would just cut the plug of the car, strip the wires and put them in the speaker connectors like normal.

OR just spend $5 and get an adapter that has spade connectors on one end and the factory plug on the other. Why would you take a soldering iron to your new speakers? If you spent the money for aftermarket speakers spend $5 more and get the proper adapter. If you have a good reason to take a soldering iron to new speakers please tell me, otherwise it seems stupid when they make adapters for this very purpose.

One guy said this is a rip off, I think it’s a bonus, he went above and beyond the call of duty. Unless the car is getting a custom system this is a really nice clean install. If the car is just getting a basic upgrade for the head unit and speakers you aren’t going to run new wires anyway. If it’s getting a custom high power system where you are in agreement that high end wires are being installed sure it wouldn’t be right. For a speaker upgrade this is cool. 😎👍

Goes without saying - all Car Audio Connectirs should be the SAME, especially non technical items such as speakers. I have 2 different Cars but the Main Connector on the head unit is the same.

You're a fuckin moron, chief. The point is to disconnect the two, *very obvious* , solder points on the terminals. You can just as easily snip the plug off and desolder that way. Slightly less hassle.

Nice trick, but on much older cars the plastic is brittle and prone to splitting. Just cut & crimp and be on to the next car. The connection is just as solid and you give yourself more time to do more cars.

its all about how u wire the speaker.please note about what amount ur amp are capable of.either ur amp support what u want or not.2 ohm sub with parallel wiring will gives u 1 ohm output.but when u wire it in series it will gives u 4 ohm.same goes to any speaker with different impedance.2 speaker with 8 ohm will gives u 4 ohm output.in series it will gives u 16 ohm total.quite powerful.its just a concept.

Just run some good 12-16 ga wire to your speakers... Unless your running your new "premium" speakers with your head unit. But then they are not too premium are they? Gotta be able to get some power to them, buy a 2 or 4 channel for the same price or less than you bought your two new speakers for. HU power is not enough for many speakers you buy unless Gerry are OEM replacements. But good idea for someone running 10 watts.

Most cars use 18awg speaker wire, which is good for an easy 200W continuous, or 400W music power. There really isn't any issue here.

A 200 watt RMS speaker should be wired with 10 gauge copper wire unless it is 12 feet or longer, them use 8 guage copper wire. 18 guage is not adequate for most good aftermarket speakers. 100 watt RMS are just about as low as you would ever want to upgrade to and the wiring size recommendations are the same #10 or #8. 18 guage will not preform as well or live as long. .go with manufacturers recommendations at least .

+Dazed Ri not everyone wants to spend money on making their system louder. For many people a new stereo and upgrading the speakers is enough. And you can achieve just as good sound quality on factory wiring at normal listening volumes.

With dazed on this. It is going to take more than 10 watts amplifier to run any decent aftermarket speakers. That's the most you will get out of a factory radio. Or even an aftermarket . They say 4 x 45 watts but that is peak power exaggerated. More like 10 RMS most head units. You need an amp for upgraded speakers if you want better performance.. if you can't fi that , leave it alone until you can do it right. You always want to match your speakers with proper amplification. They came matched from the factory just about 10 watts. That's not very much . Nothing too impressive. Good for a baseball game.

This is a clever idea, but a bad one. The more connection points you have in any system the worse the quality of sound. This adds 2 extra spots of connections for road nois and lack of sound quality.
