Most people don't realise, but Deepawali was also a Harvest Festival, just like many other festivals. It is the exactly the harvest season for Wheat in Uttar Pradesh. The connection of Narakasura and Krishna or the other one of Lord Rama returning to Ayodhya were added later, in order to appropriate it culturally. But originally it was a harvest festival. Please realise it and stop being against it.

Mahaveerar & Gautama Buddha were contemporaries & enlightened souls in B.C 560. The former was 24 th Thirthankarar of Jainism . Buddha founded Buddhism. Both were aetheists. Both religions don't recognize the existence of "all powerful almighty ( god) ." But, Buddha had recognized smaller gods along with devas. None of them was powerful enough & capable of creating a universe & guiding the souls of creatures therein. Smaller gods are born due to good deeds ( Karma) in their previous births. Once again, in the future, all of them would be born again - after expiry of their good Karma - as lesser mortal like animals, humans, etc. Buddha categorically denied an all-powerful god. He had explained the intricacies of births of beings in minute details to his disciples. And how the concept of Karma comes into play in individual being's lives in every birth.
