When people were attaching a stigma to the concept of racism, it was basically hatred or a feeling of superiority over people over another race. Given that, you could say that reverse racism is believing that another racial group is superior or you like them more than your own race. But you're correct in the way the word is used, i.e. non-whites being racist against whites being called reverse-racism. Nope.

Race is not invented by white people. Before the creation of multiracial nation-states (This actually is something that was created by white people) people were organized into family groups called bands. In most parts of the world, bands consolidated into tribes of people. These tribes included people who were not closely related but they were physically different from other people groups. They also typically had a unique culture and language. The tribe might also possess a given territory and a public infrastructure such as a common well, meeting house, or fenced in area. Tribes can also sometimes be grouped together by the common physical features that they share, this is race. Through most of human history people have had concentric rings of loyalty and affection. People are closer to their family than they are to their tribe, their tribe than they are to their race, their race than they are to other races. Only the nation state creates situations where people will fight by the side of another race, against members of their own race, because their loyalty is to the nation not the tribe. Outside of the West, when does this happen?

@jessy2465
@jessy2465 2 ай бұрын
That's not even true, every race that encountered a different race didnt need to conceptualize the differences of their race compared another race, it is just something that's inherent, even among different groups in the same region of the same race this had happened and still happens, the idea that europeans "white people" were the first is just nonsense. Just look at the history of the meetings of different races from the chinese, to the mongals, the japanese, arabs africans etc. Its always been the same. There is an in group and every other group are the out groups.

Not only has slavery always been around - but it was around since day 1 not based on the color of one’s skin. In ancient times, people would enslave their own people, and their own color. It was interesting to hear that slavery was turned to sorting by race by the Europeans and if you know anything about the Bible and Christianity, this actually makes sense. With that being said, I don’t think anyone should be PROUD to be white. I don’t think anyone should be PROUD to be black. If racism on either side truly did not exist, we would not care at all about our color, sorting or whose life matters more or who should be more proud. We’d actually all just be equal. Imagine THAT?

'White' Is a massively broad term. I have Latin and Native American Indian ancestors, but you wouldn't know that simply by looking at me. There is far too much focus on race in America, and it's obviously intentional. It is being used to sow division among us.

No one can argue and now justify European perceived superiority and entitlement and how it has shaped history and we still see it today in what is going on in Israel being a prime example of manifest destiny modern day.

I quite liked the comment the Europeans were the first to trade slaves based on a physical characteristic, as opposed to the much more likely easy access to well established and relatively cheap native African markets, the characteristic being more incidental.

Reverse racism isn't a thing. It's either racist or it is not. That's one thing that really needs to be corrected. The other is the whole idea that certain groups can't be racist, that isn't a thing. The solution is pretty simple. Ask yourself, if someone said the exact same thing about you, if you would get upset about it, you shouldn't say it about other. Same thing goes with actions. Other countries around the world looks at the USA like we're a bunch of idiots because of how we treat each others. Most of this stuff just doesn't happen outside of the West.

16:13 but in holidays like these we’re not celebrating the slaughter of the indigenous people. That’s not why we celebrate those holidays. It’s about celebrating the birth of the country/continent and about being proud of being your ethnicity, whatever that may be, whatever country/continent you may be in.

Another thing people are not aware of is that the Arabs were enslaving people far before Europeans did. The word slave comes from Slavacian slaves. They were treaded so badly most didn't survive the torture and hundreds of thousands Slavic people died under Arab slavery. And in Africa there own people were selling each other it's not like Europeans were kidnapping people it was a business and many took advantage of it and turned on there own people.

@@danconcep LOL, I suggest you try again, cause at 3min 26 seconds he says "slavery has always existed". Furthermore, just prior he doesn't say, as you claim, Europeans invented slavery in relation to race. What he actually says is that "Europeans created the concept of race alongside slavery." While Europeans certainly did not invent slavery itself, they were pivotal in transforming slavery into a racialized institution. The concept of race as a category, and its relationship to history, was significantly shaped by European intellectual and colonial practices.

@@danconcep Lets explore the concept of race historically. Ancient societies, such as the Greeks and Romans, recognized differences among peoples based on culture, language, and geography, but these differences were not categorized in the same way as modern racial categories. Instead, they focused more on the concept of "barbarian" versus "civilized." During the medieval period, religious explanations, particularly in Christian Europe, often framed differences among peoples in moral or theological terms, rather than in terms of inherent biological differences. For instance, the Curse of Ham in the Bible was later interpreted by some to justify the subjugation of certain peoples, though this interpretation emerged much later. The 17th and 18th centuries marked the emergence of the Enlightenment, a period that emphasized reason and scientific inquiry. Thinkers began to categorize the natural world, including humans, leading to the development of racial classifications. For example, Carl Linnaeus, in his taxonomy of living organisms, included human beings and divided them into different groups based on physical and behavioral characteristics. The development of pseudo-scientific theories in the 18th and 19th centuries sought to justify racial hierarchies. Figures like Johann Friedrich Blumenbach, who introduced the term "Caucasian" to describe white Europeans, contributed to the categorization of races based on skull measurements and other physical traits. These ideas were used to rationalize colonialism, slavery, and other forms of exploitation. As European powers expanded their empires, the concept of race became increasingly tied to the justification of colonial rule. The idea of the "white man's burden" suggested that it was the duty of Europeans to "civilize" other races, which were often deemed inferior.

@@YouLoseSir I guess the issue is you cannot read. I did not write that he said that europeans invented slavery. He literally said "europeans did this thing that people had not done before (invent), which is enslave in base of the physical appearance (race) and where you are from". The most studip statement I ever heard.

Try this: Selling drugs is bad, so we prosecute individual people selling drugs. We prosecute people supplying the drugs with heavier sentences because its by far a worse crime. Slavery is bad, so we look down on decendants of individual slave owners. We shame them for the sins of their ancesters. Those who supplied the slaves to the US are seen as innocent, as are their decendants. Although African countries got rich selling slaves, we do not shame the decendants of people who sold other people into slavery. If all of these statements are true (which they are) how can this be called fair ?

Substitute white for European and it becomes very different. You can say that you are a proud German American or an Italian American but you get more push back if you say that you are European and saying that you are proud of your whiteness will see a huge backlash. The fact is that not every group had the same impact on the development of this country and modern society. Why is it bad to recognize that which is objectively true? Lastly all the examples he referenced is taught in our schools. TS is not a scholar in this field. The reason we study our history regarding slavery is because it’s our history. The history taught in Europe and Asia is different.
