The idea of Onslaught was that we ALL have an Onslaught inside of us. And Onslaught's evil was born from Magneto, but given life and power from Xavier. In fact, after Onslaught was incarnated, Magneto ceased being evil and joined the X-Men. A summary of wolverine's comic history in wars: Captain America and Wolverine fight alongside each other briefly during WW2. But Wolverine gets transfered to another unit before he can complete more than three missions with Cap. The comics that tell this story feature a few notable characters in them including a fictionalized Stan Lee, Colonel Fury Sr, and Bucky. They fight alongside Captain America and Wolverine where Fury Sr. ends up losing his eye, and Stan Lee dies. After Wolverine tries to save Stan but fails he takes it out on Bucky and requests a transfer to a new unit. Wolverine spends the rest of the war out in his new unit, eventually becoming a higher rank than Cap. Then Bucky supposedly dies and Cap gets frozen after deactivating a nuclear bomb sent off by the The Red Skulls scientists and followers. Wolverine was also part of the assault team on the castle which Bucky and Cap were attacking but Wolverine doesn't follow Cap to the bomb. He instead follows Bucky under Cap's and General Fury's orders. Wolverine sees Bucky follow another missile but he doesn't deactivate it until over Russia where the soviets then find Bucky and turn him into The Winter Soldier. After all that Wolverine goes on to the war in Japan. WW2 follows on out in Germany while Wolverine gets drafted into Japan and while there he meets his one true love and marries her. After a while though she dies of cancer and he moves on to the war in Vietnam. He end up getting arrested afterwards and a year later gets experimented on in the Weapon X project.
