Professor Alex Silver Her Poliwhirl! It was great seeing her catch a poliwag and evolve it all the way to a Politoed. Great achievement for Misty. When it was a Poliwhirl it got great development. I also loved Corsola. Misty was obsessed with catching one and once she did she grew as a trainer. It was satisfying seeing her finally catch one. And of course her relationship with Psyduck which was hilarious and special. We all know she loved that little guy despite yelling at it all the time lol. Staryu and Goldeen were great too. Misty didn’t always win but her team and development across 3 regions was so much fun to watch. But to answer your question I’d say Poliwhirl is my favorite but I was happy and satisfied when it evolved into Politoed. It made more sense for Misty compared to Poliwrath.

Professor Alex Silver Poliwhirl is definitely more popular in general. I always felt that once she got Corsola and Politoed on her team that Misty had finally developed into a strong water Pokémon trainer. We didn’t see Politoed battle that much but it was never implied as weak. We never saw it lose a battle so I viewed it as a powerhouse for Misty. I would say it’s her second strongest after Gyarados.

Politoed is easily my second favorite of Misty's Pokemon with its carefree and likeable personality. The thing I like about the episode where it evolves into Politoed, besides the surprise evolution, is, actually, the epic wrestling match between Bayleef and Poliwrath that precedes it. Kind of a forgotten draw there. Yeah... On a side note on that one... Kinda strange how all three of Ash's first three grass types, being Bulbasaur, Bayleef, and Sceptile, all had a draw against a fully-evolved Pokemon at some point. Coincidence? I think not.

I have a question for you 👨‍🏫 silver ¿Much like Ninetales , pelipper and Gigalith do you hope that more Pokémon will have the Drought ,🌧 and Sand stream in the future with a second type like Tyrannitar ? Personally I’ll be impressed if a 🐉 type Pokémon have the drizzle or drought ability. Sand stream has to be part rock or ground so it won’t lose HP each turn. You forgot that politoed has the drizzle ability to better in battle

I remember as a kid that I always thought Misty's Poliwhirl would evolve into Politoed and this was way before I used the internet as a kid but it must have been pretty obvious for fans anyway and also I kind of wonder how it evolved with the Kings Rock without being traded we rarely see this kind of evolutions in the Anime but I guess the show ignores some elements from the video games like when Levelling up used to be mentioned but Pokémon is full of surprises which is why I still love watching the series and movies and playing the video games.

As I understand it, I don't know if this is a rumor, but in Jhoto it was planned that misty and psyduck would settle their differences And psyduck evolves by friendship as Tracy said in the previous season But for x reason, they changed it to politoed, maybe they never thought of an alternative evolution for psyduck. Misty admitting that he was a pain in the ass, but he pushes himself and tries and she appreciates that,So when she admits to him that she loves him, Psyduck He was going to evolve, bringing the plot of the orange islands

The Orange Islands series gets a lot of shit but it was one of my fav eras. I watched this in English dub and there are so many funny lines and moments, as well as some of the most memorable. Even though Brock wasn’t around for most of this era, he eventually returned so I can’t complain-and I’m one of those people awaiting a Brock and Misty spin-off series!

1:09 did no one catch that he said “Togepi won” when it should have been “Chikorita won”? I was thrown off when I heard that, literally rewinded the vid to see if Togepi was in there.

It was a best of three, with staryu losing its battle and togepi winning its scuffle. Poliwag was the third fighter. I just didn't have the togepi animation onscreen.

Politoed is okay I guess but it should have stayed as a poliwhirl especially with it’s personality change. Poliwhirl should have stayed as Mistys Ace but without a mega evolution or z move I guess that’s why gyarados is her ace now
