Very well said Dave. As a retired LEO who was involved in three deadly force encounters, one written up buy Mas Ayoob in American Handgunner in 2016, you’ve hit the nail on the head. I’ve been retired 20 years now but still carry every day, go to the range a couple of times each month and qualify for my LEOSA certification annually.

Down to earth and realistic, as well as humble. Great personality for a trainer

Great vid! Would you be able to get Ken Hackathorn to do a spotlight such as this. I'd love to see that. He has been one of my personal favorite 'trainers' going back to 1999. Clint Smith and Massad Ayoob as well. It would be great to see these legends speak their mind.

Dave, I agree 100%. I too did 30 years as a LEO, working all of the different divisions. From corrections to Admin where the Civil process was located. Patrol, CID and Narcotics was the best slots. Long hours in CID and Narc. Real hard on family life. I did normal things and some extraordinary feats that even surprised me. I never felt like a HERO.. The Hero's were fighting a world away keeping the wolves at bay. I never wanted a photo or interview of me, let the PIO take care of that. I just wanted to do my job to the best of my ability. Like you, working for a Sheriffs Office, politics come to play and I apparently laid down the wrong card. I retired and while I don't miss getting up to go to work, I miss what I got into the job for, to help those who can't help themselves or being victimized by thugs and scum. For the Children. My Heros are the US Military, current and past.

“Invited to retire by the current sheriff at the time who was, how do I say this, he was an ass”. Pay attention LE managers, because the majority of you are the real problem in the profession. I took two classes from this man. A great instructor.

I think he said it all when he said that you will not fight your way to a long gun; be proficient with your handgun. The fight will be over in seconds.

While I really appreciate the bio info and the take of a true professional on frame of mind, I couldnt get past the entry at 3:56 where the bad guy to the left, behind the door was not even noticed or engaged and theoretically killed all 3 officers.

It might have been a no shoot target. It had something written on the shirt that might have signaled it was a no shoot. I might be wrong too.
