Jim Brown is one of the greatest running backs of all time. My personal GOAT pick is Walter Payton but Jim is probably 2nd GOAT. He is most definitely one of the greatest football players ever for sure. He also did an excellent job playing defensive coordinator Montezuma in Any Given Sunday a.k.a. one of the best movies ever about pro football. He was an ambassador to the game, an icon in Cleveland, and a legendary historical figure to the world. There will never be another Jim Brown. Rest in Peace, Jim. Thank you for the memories. We will miss you. 🏈

Led the league in rushing 8 out of 9 seasons. No one else went over 4. Brown's been argued as the greatest player ever. Even Walter and Barry (my 2a and 2b) can't claim that. HOF defenders literally feared tackling him. And RIP to Walter. Loved watching him as a kid. Died way too soon.

You’re the greatest running back of all time, you were a fighter in everything you did in life, you never gave up, unlike players today who run out of bounds with the football, I remember you giving those defensive guys the stiff arm and staying in bounds to get the extra yards, no running out of bounds for you, no sir , RIP number 32 😢

The greatest Pro Football running back ever, 12 thousands plus yards in 9 seasons, you have to remember back then there only 12 regular seasons games. The fact I want to point out he was also the first- African American inducted to the pro Football hall of fame in Canton, Ohio 24 miles South of my hometown of Akron, Ohio, that being said he became a actor in Hollywood, and also worked with gang members in Los Angles area as well. The late Jim Brown, was a man, man and help a lot of young Black men, he was a powerful and tough running back, with power and speed and finesse, RIP Mr Jim Brown.

I was born in 1963, so I didn't get to see him play live. But I grew up as a huge Cleveland Browns fan and have seen a lot of his footage. He is the best that I have ever seen. Just think he was winning his rushing titles as a Fullback. Can you imagine him as the Tailback in the I formation? He probably would have had at least another 1,000 yards if he was the tailback behind a lead blocker.

I was 6 years old in 1965 watching the Packers beat Cleveland in the NFL Championship. Being from NE Ohio of course I was heartbroken. But to this day I only remember one play in that game. Frank Ryan to Jim Brown for 30 yards. TBH I remember more of Leroy Kelly than Jim Brown growing up. But Brown was my football hero. I never wanted to be better than Jim Brown. I wanted to be equal to Jim Brown. In his first game in 1957 he gained 89 yards. As a child I set the goal that when I got to the pros I was going to gain exactly 89 yards in my first game. In his 5th game of 1962 -his 6th season- he gained 11 yds (believe it or not 11/14/1962 vs Colts). In my 6th season of the NFL, I was going to gain 11 yds in my 5th game. Of course as I grew up I realized that HS football was as far I would go. But I always honored that childhood goal. To be better than Jim Brown was an insult!

Those who argue that today's players are better than Jim Brown in football, Wilt Chamberlain in basketball, etc. need to consider how much better such players would be if provided the same advantages in the current era, i.e. better nutrition, personalized coaching, personal training, rule changes, etc. Jim Brown, for example, would likely have been bigger, faster, and more skilled than he was back in his era. Who's to say he wouldn't have outshined today's football stars? Of course, we will never know which is why it's silly to make such comparisons.

I think that Jim Brown was the greatest athlete of all time. Michael Jordan is often cited for this distinction but that is wrong. Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time but that's it. He averaged .201 as a minor league baseball player. He had a goal to join the PGA when his basketball career ended but that never materialized. Jim Brown averaged 38 points a game in high school basketball ,averaged 15 yards per carry and was a lacrosse all American . Furthermore he is the only athlete who is in the conversation for the greatest in two sports lacrosse and football.
