I don't comment much but please keep this up, because this is something really special. The introspection, the wisdom, advice, and simply the though-provoking ideas are all valuable-- to us and to you. You've got something special here, and I can always appreciate a selfless person whose words can mean a million positive things to their viewers.

This HAS to be the reason I struggle to meditate. I started in the pandemic or shortly before with Andi and his Headspace app. So almost five yrs later and no results, yes, I think meditation is not helpful for me. Seeing myself as separate from my mind, "the mind is a tool, it's not who you are. you are not your thoughts, your mind is something you use to think"....it's challenging. Maybe since I struggle with abstract concepts and I can't see my thoughts or my mind...it makes sense to me, but it also doesn't. We know what a brain looks like, but not a thought or the mind since everything in life is not physical. You are so right because my reality reflects what I think about myself. "Observe the thought rather than directly reacting to it." I want to do that, but I'm not sure how yet. Maybe that looks like me noticing the thought that I don't have the family support that I deserve and not latching onto the idea that it's because my family doesn't want to see or understand me. I need some separation so I can think for myself and choose what I believe. Then I can get to the point that I validate myself and it doesn't phase me when they judge or criticize my best efforts. (I'm recovering from being codependent so relationships are brutal and I focused outward so often that today I don't have a healthy relationship with myself.) I appreciate you so much for sharing your insight. And honestly, I'm so grateful that you didn't have to go through hell/abuse to know what you know. And that you are learning it early in adulthood. So happy for that!

It's so crazy to me how conveniently you upload this video. I've been reacting badly to my thoughts recently. Being angry, stressed, and feeling those types of emotions make me lazy. I'm not in a good headspace with my thinking at the moment and I'm trying to self improve by doing all the steps and taking better care of myself. But certain thoughts randomly occur and they frustrate me and influences my mood for pretty much the entire day and I don't know why. You're right though. We shouldn't let the thoughts control how we react. It's not who we are and thank you for explaining this and talking about it. It helps a lot. Have a great day dude. I'm gonna try that mediation tip.

This is such an essential thing; observing your thoughts instead of identifying with them. A favorite book I’ll always recommend is called ‘Go Suck A Lemon’ by Michael Cornwall. Focusing on improving your emotional intelligence. He walks you through how to observe your thoughts that may trigger you from a ABC theory. His approach is very humorous and relatable; you can apply the tools daily. A= Activating event (person, place, or situation that may have triggered you. B=Belief system (your ought, should, need, must, have, want) C= consequence emotionally (current emotion after activating event) Disputing= disputing your beliefs; discovering no logic. E=emotional evolution (center and grounding your energy and emotions. Also tying in what he said about “being addicted to certain feelings” when you think of a lemon instantly your mouth waters, tense feeling in our jaws, remembering sourness.… Due to our mind subconsciously being programmed to our past experiences with lemons our body automatically reacts; just like our thoughts and our emotional reactions. Cornwall emphasizes to practice the ABC theory with emotions it “takes the power of will”. And this is because our thought process and emotions have been wired a certain way for so long. But again, due to the power of will the book has helped me so much with going the flow of life.

It’s more like understanding the thoughts instead of instantly letting them go. You have to understand most of these thoughts you have are not even yours most the time, other latches on them feed off of what type of energy your hinging on. Weather they are hurtful or mean , you have to recognize that was that and forgive.

For the longest, I don't react to my mom's judgment when she comments on my body. Usually don't care but sometimes when I'm feeling low, she gets to me. Whether its weight or the acne ughh.... We were having a family trip on the beach and she ruins the moment by saying something . Sucks cause I felt discouraged and I know she means well but it hard.
