love the idea of both colors, the black will be amazing, but i have had several black cars and currently have a 3 stage candy red truck i am tired of the maintenance, a lower maintenance color would be great, awesome project and a great thing to do for charity

This was a great video I hope the younger generation watches it. They have amazing technology now with things to make things so much easier by the difference in the block sanding and what you can use. The one thing that I think was amazing is the jar of I forget what you called it but you can just kind of touch the car with it, and then you can sand it off to find low spots that’s amazing what we did back in the 70s at least the way I was taught I had a Corvette and I had 18 coats of black lacquer paint and we used to have to spray gray primer and then dust it with red primer and then we sanded the red primer off lightly , and that’s how we saw the low spots and then we could proceed to fix them or fill them with more primer until we got it perfect and I sprayed every three coats of lacquer. I would wet sand, the whole car spray, another three coats, wet sand, whole car. I did it with 18 coats of paint it was beautiful and it was black and I had chrome rims that came with the 1976 Corvette red interior. I love that car even though it wasn’t a special Corvette but it was special to me because my wife bought it for me. It was smashed a little on the front and I had to fix everything, love your videos Dan it’s very very good. How you explain everything I always can’t wait for the next Friday . I wanna meet you and shake your hand and say thank you so much for what you’re teaching all of us. Thank you sir ,from a old as old a you !

You have to love the contrast of Dan's enthusiasm and Will's laid back coolness! I chuckle every time I see them interacting together... Haha!! Great stuff! As far as color, black on black would be very nice, but I have always been a big fan of a metallic burnt orange with white and burnt orange/brown interior. My uncle had a 63 split window and it was dark silver with a deep red interior and it was beautiful as well.

I never thought of yellow but it looks awesome, then do a medium grey leather interior with yellow stiching, and black carpet. And maybe put the charities logos on each head rest. Or have you ever seen a purple corvette with a blue pearl over it. Something to think about 😊

They are called earwigs they have two antennas on the front of their head. We have a lot of them in New Brunswick Canada they are a nusence. The car looks good in yellow with black stripes. One thing is you could never hide it. It really stands out in yellow.

I think the black will give it the sleek look you are going for. It will make the chrome accents really pop. I agree that the yellow looks sharp on that car as well. Many cars it would not. The picture you showed with the car with the chrome piping on the sides would really stand out in black. You said something about red accents to the black interior. A splash of color will add alot used in good flavor. Which I know you will do. This might get me booed off stage but though they werent GM standard for that year, (at least I believe they werent) I was thinking maybe redline tires so you have some red accent on both the inside and outside while not hampering the full black paint job.

I'm 60 years old and I've seen a bunch of them over the years but I will never forget the first time I actually Stood Beside a real one and it was root beer color and I have never seen it again. Almost 50 years ago it wasn't the huge metallic flake just a medium and it was stunning

Since it's going for charity, black would typically find more market acceptance than yellow, but I'd consider the yellow for myself! Then again, growing up in the 70s, there was a black split window that lived down the street with a 327 if I remember correctly. At the time I didn't know they were 1 year only! I just loved it when it drove by! Still remember the sound it its exhaust.

I think Dans suggestion of Yellow would be a wiser choice with a black interior. A Black exterior will require perfect preperation, the slightest imperfections will stick out like a sore thumb. Good look with whatever colour you decide to go with Dan.

I like yellow. There are a million black or red vettes. But I’ve liked yellow since the 70s. One of my friends had a 72 in yellow. A very, very nice big block vette. They stole it out of his garage while he was a work one day. It never showed back up. Obviously professionals. His insurance company gave him a fraction of what it was really worth.

You know what they say about opinions, but, you asked. I love the black paint idea and as far as interior, when you said deer, I thought of a buckskin color with black stitching. Now personally, I would leave it as a roadster. I love a split window, but think this one should remain convertible. Beautiful side pipes and all the wheel you can get under it. Black on Black has been very popular for years on many cars and trucks but to me, not on a killer C2. Hell, my Mercedes ML is black/black and that's fine but this is not a Benz. A full boat restomod C2 in order to bring all the money has to be a "shock your eyeballs" car. A second choice is that great electric blue that you've done before. Not red, too many are red. Maybe some are thinking you see very few black C2's so this will stand out as different. Maybe. I know you would make it look awesome but that yellow screams and I think it would bring more bidders especially under the TV lights at Barrett Jackson or Mecum which are probably the two best auctions for a charity sale.

Well this is going to be a restorod is it does matter but one winter I spent 100’s of hours straightening the low spots in my 59. First car show was a crying event when the judges said the car was ruined because the form wave were gone.

5,000 hrs of sanding equals 625 8 hour days. 500 hours would be an insane amount of sanding. 50 hours is almost a full week.

how odd, earlier tonight i was telling my grand daughter about the file i have on a prototype 63 split window that zora and a Javanese designer that i can never remember his name. the prototype was a 4 passenger the bean counters wanted to produce instead of the one that finally went into production. the 4 passenger was actually built, i have a file with all the drawings and then the pictures of the car as it looked the day the money guys came in to look it over, there is a funny story about how one of the designers sabotaged the seat back so two of the guys got trapped in the back seat until a seat was removed to allow them to get out. as the story goes after that they dropped the idea of the 4 passenger. not sure if allthat is true or not but the car was built. the pictures show the guys around the car, not bad looking, the top is a little higher, a little like the 2+2 jag xke, a few inches longer wheel base, but other than that it would be hard to tell. reply on here if you have never seen this and are interested and ill try to send the pictures.
