Something to touch on when on the attack, and I learned in the competitive arena. When dribbling towards the defender don't run down line before getting to him. Stay in line with him and make him feel uncertain. Then make a touch to the line if that is the route you chose. Or inside if that is the route. Most wingers have pace. If you stick to this golden rule you will advance past the defender everytime, leaving them unbalanced and behind as you out pace them.

I'm in my first season ever playing on a team (I joined an adult league) and I got put as Right Winger today. It's 8 vs 8 (9 vs 9 if you count goalies), and I felt like I had to do a lot (help defense and be responsible for attacking). I wasn't conditioned enough and got cramps in the 2nd half.

You are right. My position is the attacking midfield position, but sometimes I play left or right midfield. The problem I am having with my teammates is that they usually want me to stay on the side; it's like they are trying to restrict me. Sometimes you do have to come inside to get the ball; that way the attacking midfielder can take your place as a winger. You cannot just stay on the side every time. Otherwise you will be very predictable.

Kang no. if you stay wide you can recieve the ball. if you get close you are just bringing more marks and cutting space to recieve alone

The main job of a striker is to score goals but in football ryt now or even before WINGERS are the one who have the most goals and awards. SO I THINK WINGER IS A BETTER POSITION TO PLAY THAN A STRIKER

JWalker Unless you’re a wing-back. I love being a wing-back. Defensively, I’m a full back. Offensively, I’m a winger. To make overloading runs, receive the ball and cross the ball to the penalty box IF my teammate is attacking the area. Or to hold the ball and let my midfielder make an under-loading run so I can pass it to that area. I always do this every practice. You know what they say: “Master one skill a 1,000 times than have 1,000 skills and only use once”

+Azmann Hasan May I help you? Actually it´s so easy. You want to kick the ball as low as low as possible opposite to the direction the GK is moving. If you´re really, really close to the GK.. like right in front of him, then you may have to nutmeg him, if he´s standing straddle-legged.

Alireza Raghebi Try to improve your speed with exercises. I believe Nike Football Academy created a video for that. Many other videos on KZbin show you how to increase speed and stamina also. If you just don't have the time, ask your coach is you can play attacking midfielder.

I recently switched to winger from striker because of pace, I've learned that pace alone won't entirely be effective. Some other things I've worked on and recommend you work on are good passing and beating defenders, you don't have to be fast to make a good move or play a good through ball, hope this helped.

For realism, shouldn't there be 11 a side? You're talking about wing play on a side where there's no Right Back. This is 9 vs 9 on your board (8 vs 8 in the field) so the demonstrations fall flat, but your explanations are sound.
