I love this so much, it inspires me. Because of this, I'm doing a challenge right now where every breakfast I have to cook properly- Yesterday I had fried paprika with carrots and seasoning. This morning I got a little more creative: I got some rice and added a little of pilau rice seasoning and also pizza seasoning. (which is delicious in everything!) With that I cut up some more paprika & carrots, added seasoning + some oil and thrown them in the oven along with the small chicken nuggets. When all the rice, chicken and veg were done I put them into mini wraps (they where really cheap, much better than buns- Something this show has made me realise.) It was the perfect breakfast, and small meal when your school only has 15/30 minute breaks. It sounds really simple but it's delicious. Thank you, cause it's really awesome, so many techniques that I would have never discovered.

Oh lord, one's first home after moving out on one's own! I know it is nerve wracking, but hang in there. You will look back on this time years later as one of the best in your life, I'll bet. It goes by so quickly, so try to enjoy it too! I found this guy, who made these videos, to be a little off the wall in his, uhm, flavor combinations, at times, but then everyone has their own tastes. He is trying to offer help to people and is fun to watch; and he has a lot of good advice too. Cooking up a pound or two of beans just plain, in water, adding salt ONLY at the end when they are just tender, gives you a number of cups to use as you like in different ways. Cooked chickpeas can be added to soups, ground to a paste to make hummus or pancakes or a spread for a sandwich, marinated whole then added to salads, stir fried with sweet spices and cabbage, sweet potato, carrot, parsnip,and winter squash(and onion & garlic), then served over couscous or quinoa for a North African style main dish, etc etc etc. Black beans similarly can be used in many ways, after being cooked whole with no seasonings. Beans served with brown rice, corn or cornbread, quinoa, or whole wheat bread, give a complete protein. Look around on YT for recipes from India; they have centuries of cooking frugally and thousands of nutritious recipes to draw from.You can add up to 20% by weight of rolled oats to ground beef to stretch it out and most people won't even realize it. There are a number of different rice varieties each with a different flavor, texture and other attributes that add immense variety. Spices can be found unbelieveably cheaply in groceries that cater to people from the Indian subcontinent. Lay in a stock of perhaps a dozen spices and half a dozen herbs (herbs can often be grown in pots indoors!), and learn to use them, and you can serve fantastic flavorful foods from ordinary ingredients. Ask around and see if there are any "freegan" groups in you area. Try always to avoid waste in your kitchen - the amount of money saved will amaze you. There are MANY good videos on YT that can help you live frugally and save your money. Good luck with it! Drop a comment now and then & let people know how you are getting along - I just saw the update below and am glad you are doing okay so far! Keep it up!

But then he "found some honey" and that was all that was mentioned. The honey wasn't an essential item, it's not a huge deal..it's just very out of the ordinary for this video series.

TY for explaining the disparity of your timeline; it was confusing. I used to make my own mayonnaise, in the blender. It tastes so much better made fresh. Your Magic Bullet should do the emulsification much faster. I deeply appreciate this series, as I am a health food only consumer. Plus, being temporarily differently abled, I'm given the maximum amount of food allowance, of $2/meal. I haven't been successful in finding organic, nonGMO, and affordable produce. I live in the desert, where crops are a rareity, for a farmer's market. I loved that you were listening to the Abraham-Hicks audio. Their techniques have been phenomenal for me. Brothers Green Eats I was wondering how you were able to get the condiment packets at the restaurants, without making a purchase? Where I live, some places charge for the packets, even when a meal is ordered. Perhaps you have friends whom dine at these establishments, and are willing to gather them for you? Myself, all restaurant food has made me ill, for decades. Any fast food makes me very nauseous, and they taste like chemicals. I haven't consumed their products for decades. Processed food also has the same effect on me. It tastes rancid, but others don't seem to taste this; I know that chemicals are added, in order to mask the spoiled "food." I am in search of organic produce, at local farmer's markets. Thank you 🌵

@Asmanaziir8 жыл бұрын
Hope you haven't gone ahead and bought a grinder already, the chickpea flour is actually readily available in India and Pakistan (its really cheap here), so if you can, just go to an indian/pakistani deli/shop whatever you guys have, or a flour mill if you guys have those here. The chickpea flour can do wonders like make fries and chicken extra crispy, the pancakes are a new thing but we already have this spicy flatbread made of onion green chilies red chili powder salt cumin etc, you should really check the indopaki recipes out for some more variety of cheap foods
@justinwhite27258 жыл бұрын
The city I live in is very multicultural. I'll check the international foods isle at my local store to see if they have chickpea flour - they have an isle for it because there are a lot of phillipinos, east Indians, ect ect so there is a customer base. I make homemade fries. How do I use the powder for that? do I just coat them before frying them?
@Asmanaziir8 жыл бұрын
Justin White yep, you generously rub the potatoes with them, make sure they're covered properly, same with chicken after dipping with egg (no egg on the potatoes), and put in hot oil, they'll make the potatoes really crispy, and the chicken would get a kfc type of texture.

This series is super inspiring. It's giving me so many ideas for when I move out on my own because I do NOT want to only eat ramen noodles and rice when I'm on my own. I'm even directing my friends to these videos so to they don't have to feel like they have to put their small food budget to only processed foods

Don't really care, otherwise I wouldn't have liked the explanations up and probably would have deleted the comment... Simply didn't notice, he bought it in the first episode. No big deal.

He kinda cheated. The honey & sunflower oil wasn't part of the $21.

+simontheodore The honey yeah but he said the oil was going to be an exception. You can get oil really cheap buying in big quantities.

+simontheodore He did say he "found" the honey. Idk where from but I've certainly seen maple syrup/honey packets at a few fast food restaurants and such.

almost everyone has oil lying around, and there's plenty of places with honey packets you can sneak. They oil you can get easily for 5-9 dollars. if you can't bring yourself to take honey packets, dollar store has some. Sure, technically raising it to like 4 bucks a day, but for most people it won't add on anything.

You can purchase chickpea flour ready made from an Indian grocer -- it is called Besan and is very inexpensive. Chickpea pancakes are my favourite healthy recipe.

I love black bean burgers. When I went vegetarian my mom would help me make a bunch of different combo veggie burgers. It was so cheap and made a ton. We kept them in the freezer. 😋
