@Tiametmarduk -- I reviewed your spin that occurred around 3:16 in your video and you mentioned "I'm not even really sure what I did wrong". I looked at your brake/throttle/steering inputs and it appears you just had liftoff oversteer. Pausing the video and looking at the input: 3:15 - 90 MPH - 0% throttle - 20% brake - turning maybe 30% 3:16 - 73 MPH - 0% throttle - 0% brake - turning maybe 40-50% 3:17 - 70 MPH - 5% throttle - 0% brake - counter correction begins This is a fairly common observation I've made on open wheel racing races, the turn in off power is very good, almost too good, and the back can't follow. Especially when coming out of a brake zone and the weight is shifted forward. As you turn in harder, the car slows down, further shifting the weight around. I would recommend experimenting with trying to apply a small amount of throttle during turn in to settle the car. With most open wheel cars I find feeding a little throttle as turn in begins neutralizes this sort of thing and I can wait to see the exit and put the pedal through the metal! Or just modify the car so it handles to match your driving. Either way, good luck!

What makes it worse is that Project Cars has a SIM background, containing employees from games like GTR2. Losing the rear at speed is caused by a lack of load from turning under heavy braking or too severe a weight transfer, braking further sends the weight forward. Unless the car has ABS, left foot brake to lock/reduce grip on the front wheels whilst accelerating to keep the load towards the rear until the car snaps back into a straight line.
@JakePetrolhead7 жыл бұрын
Aside from the derpy recovering McLaren, the AI is a definite improvement over the first game,and I'm glad you've looked into sportscar Racing, it was the strongest aspect of the first game. How are the single seater collision physics? There were times in the first game where there would be slight taps and yet somehow one of the cars would end up upside down
@camcambambam51287 жыл бұрын
uping your deceleration will help with back end, also avoid braking if your loading up one side of the car, a more frontal brake bias should help as well
@RDMracer7 жыл бұрын
Try the indyars, those are also quite similar to the F1 cars you are used to. Keep in mind the downforce works best in a straight line, so the effect is best on turn in and goes off when rotation increases. This means that the back end will rotate too quickly and lose downforce if you turn in too quickly. Also, the auto-blip is poorly calibrated so you will get drivetrain shocks on downshifts. When oversteering keep corrections very tiny, the base of the rear wing will also keep the car straight so it is very easy to overcorrect.

The default setup is made for pad controller users. This explains the rather sluggish steering of the Formula A car in your video. It's a simple matter of tweaking the Steering Ratio, a single setup tweak, very easy to do. As for your struggles with the car, I don't really know what you are doing wrong. I suggest giving the rear a bit more camber, so that the front to rear camber difference is smaller. I suspect the default setup for the Formula A car is one that hasn't been tweaked/polished yet as it really does look like a true handful. Then again, a Formula 1 car isn't supposed to be easy to drive. This is not Codemasters F1 series.

I was doing career mode on project cars and took part in an invitational BMW race. No matter what I did, it would start raining at about half-way through the second lap. I had to start taking it really easy into turns but the AI cars just drove flat out. I just did my best and powered through after about 20 attempts of driving on what was similar to ice. Then I did an invitational race with Porches and the same thing happened. The AI cars were not affected by the rain while driving on slicks, but my car was all over the place.
@axeljacquemet75347 жыл бұрын
Seems your lack of rear grip wasn't coming from the wing, but more from the differential in deceleration, looks way too high so it's locking the rears when you're downshifting/off throttle. Also you can totally change the steering ratio

I have played the early access of Project CARS 2. More tracks, more cars, more multi class options, way more real paint schemes. It's the perfect game for me. Also the handling and physics have been improved massively. The physics of the first game were fine, until you got sideways, then physics weren't that realistic. After many of the bugs in Project CARS were fixed, I've been enjoying it a lot since. I'm not sick of it at all, like I have with most Forza games after a few months. I keep coming back and I keep having great races and Project CARS 2 is a huge improvement. I didn't have a lot of faith in it at first, because of the way they handled their first game, but wow... PCARS 2 is simply epic. There are a few little bugs and lags here and there, but I think it'll be fixed before launch.
