Why did they betray the kickstarters, who funded their company so could develop a brand new (at the time) engine for realistic driving, by turning the series into arcade trash? And that on PC, mind you (which pc3 also looks better on)....all I see is a generic comment. first it was mobile that was used, but ofc after the weirdos realized what CSR racing 2 actually looks like on max, it came down to Asphalt, which sounds even funnier.....childish sillines is all it boils down to. This, WRC 9, Dirt, grid and some older/release racing titles are a very fun list/catalogue of games to enjoy, especially during this kind of period.

@@Sh-hg8kf Forza Motorsport, is the more simulation race track game. 7 is the last game in the series Forza Horizon is built off the same engine but is an open world arcade racer, but has handling model closer to Forza Motorsport/Gran Turismo than Need for Speed. In Horizon you and your friends can all join i a party and drive around the map, do various challenges etc. This might sound weird but Horizon is like a car game made by car people that is a celebration of everything around cars. Its sounds odd I know but thats what it feels like, it makes Horizon 4 in many peoples opinion the best car game released in over a decade

I love longer videos as well, but this game's scope and public perception probably doesn't justify the time investment that a longer and more in-depth analysis would take. Regardless, you can tell Tom has put a considerable amount of time into this game because there are a number of cars he shows in the video that you'll only unlock really far along into the career mode. I've been playing this game close to 20 hours and he's using cars I haven't even unlocked myself yet.

Refunded this on Steam the other day. Project Cars has always been about the simulation and that realism, something that's missing in PC3. It's an ok racing game but it ain't a Project Cars game.

My main problem with this game is that graphically it is barely a noticeable upgrade (if there is any), while it downgrades on a lot of different elements, like fine tuning the time of day to what you want. Instead, you get presets and that's it. Also car classes are mixed up with cars from different eras and categories which looks really strange when you are driving a GT3 car and next to you is a F40 LM, it just looks way too out of place. My biggest gripe is that they haven't called it something like a spin-off like Project Shift or something, to differentiate this from the previous two titles, instead they called it as a main entry which is disingenuous.

The numbers you have explained (resolutions) are NOT representative of the final quality of the graphics. In certain tracks and under certain conditions (Shanghai daytime or Texas Speedway with the rain), the game looks horrible on Xbox One X, with jaggies EVERYWHERE, low resolution, low frame rates, and screen tearing. Sometimes parts of the tracks look very pixelated. I don't remember a such poor performance for a racing game in the past six/seven years. If I did not buy the game yet, and I was watching this video, I could get the impression that the game is not that bad. You should do a better service to the customers.

Interesting, I decided to stay with res mode on the X after trying both graphic modes for several hours over the weekend, I Did not notice a significant framerate difference between the 2, but the resolution difference was more noticeable to me, performance mode looks blurrier overall... sticking with res mode for now

Looks like it's close enough to 60fps in the performance mode that some additional patching/optimization can get it there. Such an odd generation with these meager cpu's. There just wasn't a good, low power semi-custom option at the time in AMD's portfolio. For all the talk of the massive i/o and gpu improvements of the new consoles, I'm most excited about the enormous boost in CPU power. That boost is going to open up myriad game design options that weren't available in the current gen.

I got it to test it but even on X1X the tearing and drops are jarring so I’ll be returning it. It’s fun and despite the arcady driving and colourful looks with 30 screens to click through at the end, it’s not that easy to master and get good lap times. Controller support much better on Forza, mainly with Elite where you can feel everything. Enjoyable but disappointing

I think this is a outcome based on the fact Automobilista is using the Project Cars Engine which is a heavy simulation based game, perhaps there was some agreement to not be in direct competition. Slightly mad will still develop their Engine but revenue will come from other developers using it.

Tearing is a dealbreaker. Always has been. Turn down the shadow detail on the crowd sprites if you can't make your target framerate with timing that fits a 60hz monitor.

I appreciate DF focus heavily on fidelity but this game is not a step forward in any way. Surely some research into the franchise wouldn't have hurt, you'd know PC2 is not classed as a sim and is very easy to get into.

I think you missed the point with this one, it's not a shift to 'better' engaging gameplay. pCARS was a SIM, made by sim racers for sim racers. They have now taken what was an awesome sim and turned it into another shithouse arcade racer of which there are so many of these it wasn't needed and just taken a massive dump on their userbase who invested time and money into the last two games and expected a continuation of that. Just because average users who cant give two shits about racing dont find sim racing interesting isn't a reason to do this, those who do like sim racing and understand it loved what pCARS was.

@@DMitsukirules DiRT Rally/5 to a degree, Forza Horizon, Need for Speed Heat, The Crew 2, GRID. I don't even really follow Racing Games much so there's probably more arcade racers.

I tried it, haven’t enjoyed my time with it. I suppose that a person who like Shift 2 would enjoy it. It is a like the cars have a pivot in the middle and moves around it. It is not on Codemasters that they have took that approach, PC3 was in development way before Codemasters stepped in... that’s only on Slightly Mad and Namco for the direction they took.

It's not that bad ▽ Plays fine for a casual - I found it very easy but when it comes to Racing I am Shroud XD (max difficulty no assists) I did notice massive frame drops during night time and rain sometimes half rate which seemed like a lot. (before AMD drivers update)

im a die hard sim fan (not just driving, flying sims are fun as hell to) and honestly the career portion(racing with other cars) isnt THAT bad when you turn off all the assists it just feels like Forza Horizon (no where near a sim) but I miss the tire and mechanical damage simulation and the missing oversteer/understeer threshold that makes the game easy REALLY screws up the time trial and practice modes where previously I wanted to experience the toughest driving challenge to get a better time. Racing imo is fine in a semi arcade environment because paying attention to not spin out a 800 hp rwd car and trying to pass without rearending another car is legit impossible due to some games's AI, but i prefer full sim in a lap time mode because you can learn real life driving techniques in that environment. EDIT: For what its worth they shouldnt have named this PC3. should have made it a spin off

So basically Project Cars went from focusing on being a sim to being a "one of the bunch" casual racing game.... I mean we have, nfs series, grid series, dirt series, forza series, gran turismo series, F1 series. Did anybody really ask for more casual racing games? :) I kind of feel like they gave their fans the big middle finger.

Graphics are only worse than Project Cars 2, if you want to try a different racing game just play that.
