Lol In all seriousness though, I put a lot of time into this so I do hope you enjoy :) Some extra things to mention after this review was made: - the penalty system was revised with the 1.04 update and is a lot less tetchy than it was - I forgot to mention car sounds - they're not great, a bit muted unfortunately. - I"ve had a couple of freezing incidents when playing today (31 Aug) that you may want to watch out for.

I know this game is getting serious hate but I actually find it the most fun racing I've ever experienced. And I've owned all the major racing titles. I have never been so keen to play a racing game as this one before. It is FUN!

I'm still enjoying it too, just a shame that some things aren't as well sorted as I would perhaps like.

@@Sideways-Smiling I like your review but EXTREMELY disagree with you being in favour of the game adding rewind. IMO rewind ruins tension and excitement in racing games. I know you can just not use it. But if it's there it's there.

Yeah, I'd expect a setting where you can turn it off and earn extra xp that way, as with the rest of the assists.

Really good balanced review man. Glad to see one without the emotionally charged vitriol that we've seen so much lately for this title. I've only played very little so far, but the most frustrating thing I have found is in Career, if you modify your car beyond the class you are competing in, you cannot access it to change it back without having to exit the Career mode, go back to the main menu, enter the Garage, downgrade it, and then go back into the Career mode again. Really poor UI design logic. I get why it happens (you made your Class E car a Class D car by modifying it too much), but why can I not just change it back? Or there be some warning that you are about to modify your car beyond the class in which you are trying to compete? The poor performance and graphical downgrades are really odd, considering PC2 looks better and runs better, and 95% of the content is exactly the same! And the sound! It's not really been iterated on since PC2 either. It's quite flat and muted - it's not exciting! Listen to ACC! Amazing! R3E is amazing as well I've enjoyed the few races I've done so far, so I'm not upset like a lot of my sim racing buddies, but I am certainly confused as to the how and why it is worse in many aspects that were already industry leading in some areas (VR, rain, live track, graphics) in PC2. I like the fact that there is a Career mode, with some other fun modes outside of straight races. I'm not a fan of the "Perfect Corner" stuff, so I've turned all of that off.

Thanks a lot, appreciate it! It's certainly a confusing game, but there's plenty to like and it does have its own identity, which is good. I think a lot of it comes down to bad timing, as the game feels rushed to get it out before the end of the current console generations.

@@Sideways-Smiling You are right about it being confusing! lol I used to play PC2 in VR pretty much exclusively, and I loved it - despite its flaws. Didn't really play much else until ACC came out (well out of Early Access at any rate - was pretty sketchy during EA for sure). Don't know what the reason is, but I hope they iron it out so it at least feels finished.
