Get 2* drivers side TT MK1 wiper arms as an upgrade mate. Dead cheap from breakers and you'll actually get wipers that work!

@@GarethL2008 Either can work, TT is easier to acquire and less expensive. It's a bolt on mod in most cases, it depends if the linkage system is very worn or not.

Need to get mine back together.... currently in bits in the garage where its sat for the past 5 years - definitely do lines and fresh fluid.... drop the axle and get it powder coated at the same time.

I'd be inclined to drop the rear axle, replace the brake compensator, lick of paint on the beam and while your at it replace the the rear bushes. Note if replacing brake compensator bleed brakes with load on the rear, car on floor

Oh I have more than one Lancia. Looking at the underneath of a rust car is like a hobby for me.

I had a Monte Carlo, the front wing paint started bubbling. I didn't keep it long enough for the underneath to corrode.

If handbrake is working fine, then calipers should be mostly ok. The imbalance could be caused by the rear axle balancer not working properly and not distributing rear pressure evenly on one channel.

Thanks Stuart. Do you think it could also be air in the nearside calliper as it works OK via cable but not hydraulically?

loving this series of videos, as someone who has renovated a few VW T3 vans, I know the struggle laugh out loud. Every job really does take at least twice as long, and cost twice as much. At least you dont seem to be struggling too much with seized and snapped bolts ! The car looks stunning. Well done.

Im slightly daunted by what needs doing potentially to my own car(s) now, sometmes it hits home the time and effort you need to invest in these older vw's, even small jobs on top of everything else going on in your life can seem like huge challenges!

Ugh I’ve got so much to do on my MK4 Golf. Don’t think it’s worth doing as it’s a 2.0L, and use it everyday so haven’t really got the time to do it myself. Going to keep my eyes peeled for something else. Time for a change I think. Then again, I know it’s a 2.0L but it’s never let me down per se and I’d rather it didn’t go for scrap!

I thought the same about my MK4 Golf PD130 Estate, until it decided to start refusing to start when hot. Sold it for spares or repairs to an enthusiast in Cambridge with a years MOT, so at least it's gone to a good home. I miss it, but three garages couldn't diagnose it, one of those was the local VW dealership. A diesel specialist said he'd have a look but to expect a bill upwards of £600.

Thanks Simon 👍 Shame VW couldn't get the wipers right on their flagship. Someone recommended Mk1 TT arms so will give that try

Great update Andrew. Looking underneath I would have to go through all the underneath and restore - particularly considering your efforts so far and the facilities you have. I've restored similar using just axle stands on my drive! Look forward to the next update

For a 4k paint job you could buy a nice up to date vw golf for that. I dont understand why ppl try to keep a 30+ yr old car alive its more expensive

Hey Graeme, no this one is sticking around indefinitely. I tend to bond with a car when I've worked on it to this extent and I like it a lot, always have loved them as it's my 4th Corrado project in 14 years

Funny you should say the mk2 Golf GTI door leaked because mine did just that. I traced the leak to a pin hole tear in the door membrane. Then more recently my mk7 GTI had a leak which resulted in the rear passenger footwell filling up with water. I googled that one (not something I could do with the mk2) and discovered that the sealant around the rear speaker is prone to breaking down. As for the squelching water under the carpets, I've discovered that carpet cleaners are not strong enough to suck the water from underneath the carpet. In the end, with the recent good spell of weather we've had, I just left the windows part way down and now the carpet is almost dry. I think some more fine weather and it'll be completely dry. If only VW could make cars that were water proof! Look forward to hearing more about the Corrado

Thanks Ted, yes I rolled my eyes when I heard Mk7 rear door seals leaked. Same with Mk4 too. It was a pain on all those cars to dry them out but Mk2 was easier to get the soundproofing pad out to dry it off. Can't beat the effect of sun on a car to vaporise water, just need to leave 2 windows open a crack to get some through flow.

Hi Moza, it's from ebay, quite a few sellers offering single or bulk and various width. It's good but for the side moulding to stay on you do need to get everything perfect. Badges are light so less prone to unsticking themselves.

We don't do annual MOT in Victoria . NSW do. Although rust is not really a problem. No snow. Unless you go to the mountains. I do remember dads rusted out corsair. It was nearly a flintstones car when sold to come down under. Cheers.

I got a Bigred calliper rebuild kit off amazon last year for £50. Excellent value, all 4 callipers rebuilt with new pistons and not too difficult

Could be worse mine was failing on rust leading up to me getting rid of it. My money is on that rear brake bias valve looks very crusty but as you said in the video it could be the calipers. Good luck and paint work is looking great.

Definitely that seized brake biased value/pressure regulator. Replace it 1H0612151C

@Dom Landino Also if the brake bias valve ends up being the cause I remember when mine needed replaced stealth racing had to cut it off the rear beam as it rusts to it.

Have put some effort into the underside of my Corrado in the last 12 months, tank straps, brake pipes, new callipers ,backing plates discs and pads all round. Definitely worth doing due to age of them. The mirror switch is an easy fix, there will be a build up of oxidation on the circuit board (where the dog bones make contact) strip it down and clean contacts with hob brite or similar and it will work fine (a lot of small parts so be careful not to lose any bits) think there is a guide on Corrado forum. A lot of people change wipers to Lupo Gti items, which actually clear the screen (I think Mk1 TT wipers can be made to fit), but you could probably get away with bending the wiper arm a bit in this instance. Thanks for the antenna gasket tip, need one will be visiting Car-Masts-UK Will be nice when you have done everything.

Mine just needed a reset…use the hex key to move to the fully closed position…slacken off motor…cycle with the motor drive disengaged and refit 👍

Looks really good now 👍🏻 the deeper front spoiler from the earlier Cars was a popular mod onto the later cars, the windscreen wiper issue is also common on all Corrado A lot of people retro fit Lupo Gti wiper arms and it makes them work perfectly and touch the screen property!

Not read all the comments so forgive me if this is a repeat; there's a break bias / balance block on the nearside (underside) about midway between front and back - may be worth a look? - had to replace one on mine many years ago ('twas a bitch! :) - still miss my VR6 20 years on!

Failed on worse on more modern cars if it’s a Toyota you bring to mot it’ll 100% fail on rot
