Want to see us build a bad ass Supercharged 06 GT? Watch the full series at www.americanmuscle.com/2006-gt...
In Stage 1 of our 2006 Ford Mustang GT 4.6L 3V build, we wanted to kick off the transformation of this stock Mustang right. We completely revamped the appearance and styling and started adding a few bolt-on mods that will help us get started on the road to a high-horsepower performance car! A few months back, you guys helped name our custom painted Grabber Blue 06 GT "Project Grabber Boost".
We installed:
Staggered AMR Silver Wheel & Mickey Thompson Tire Kit - 19x8.5/10 (05-14)
MMD GT350 Style Window Covers - Pre-Painted (05-09 All)
Mustang GT500 Style Rear Spoiler - Pre-painted (05-09)
Raxiom 2010 Style Smoked Headlights (05-09 GT, V6)
Raxiom Gen5 Tail Lights (05-09 All)
MGP Red Caliper Covers w/ GT Logo - Front & Rear (05-10 GT, V6)
Mirror Covers - Pre-painted (05-09 All)
MMD Side Scoops - Pre-painted (05-09 All)
CDC Classic Chin Spoiler - Unpainted (05-09 GT)
Smoked Third Brake Light Tint (05-09 All)
Smoked Quarter Marker Light Tint (05-09 All)
Smoked Turn Signal Light Tint (05-09 All)
Smoked Fog Light Tint (05-12 GT)
SR Performance CAI and BAMA Tuner (05-09 GT)
SR Performance 62mm Twin Throttle Body (05-10 GT)
JLT Black Oil Separator - Passenger Side
Magnaflow Axle-Back Exhaust (05-09 GT; 07-09 GT500)
MMD Hood Vent Louvers - Matte Black (05-09 GT, V6)
Once we were done, we strapped it down to our in-house Dynojet 224xLC and let the team at Bama Performance custom tune the car to find out the horsepower gains over stock. Finally, we went to Cecil County Dragway to run a few 1/4 mile passes to find out just how much faster Project Grabber Boost really was.
Make sure to stop back in Stage 2 to see how we do against our 2014 Mustang GT Project Coyote!

On grabber boost, please add longtubes, a ford racing intake manifold, and some gear. And a whipple. On the 5.0, do the cobra jet (frpp) intake manifold instead of the boss intake and throw some longtubes on it also with a offroad xpipe. Just a suggestion.. thanks.

So I know its an old video but I couldn't resist. That custom tune ... maybe show a run with the 93 octane on a stock tune. I have a feeling that custom tune isn't doing much if anything. The 1/4 mile time improvement was likely just the new Mickey Thompsons and running 93 octane based on the 60 foot time improvement. 2 tenths at the 60 is almost half a second on the big end. Also just realized the almost 103 mph vs 104 mph. That's literally just the tires and 93 octane vs 87.

If you noticed in my post, I'm talking about all the cumulative styling changes derived from 2013-2014 design features(what has been done to AM's 2006 GT). Not speaking about one singular change, and I respect others whom choose to makes changes to their vehicles as they see fit. I also do not like the 2010+ styling changes as a whole(the front looks great, the rear.....yucky IMO)

I was saying that as a hypothetical, but it could be applied to all of the parts. As you well know everyone is entitled to their own tastes and opinions. Furthermore, if an individual prefers a certain piece from a different model year, they won't buy a brand new car just to get that part, especially if they can just have it by itself on their car. By the way, I have a 2011, so thanks, lol

I really want one of those chips but I'm not sold because you guys dyno test it on 87 octane and not 93 you should do 93 octane before and after the chip the stock tune in the computer will pull timing and you will lose horsepower running 87 anyway how do we know the ganes aren't just from running 93? if you showed me a 93 octane Dyno run no tune and then one after putting a chip in it and it showed even a little horsepower increase I would buy one. My 2010 GT don't have a performance chip and it's already running an aggressive timing curve from the factory on 93

Owned both an 05GT and an 11GT. 11GT with a couple bolt-ons and tune can beat a supercharged 05-10. Also, you can only safely make ~450rwhp on the stock 4.6L before it goes boom.

Yes. Its very possible and relatively easy to do. The coyote came out in 2011 so it fits all engine bays of the S197 generation since it ran from 05-14. He'll the stock transmissions bolt right in though most people put a new 6 speed transmission in at the same time.

Chris Caputo, our stock results of 278HP and 291TQ are definitely high. Most people show stock results around 265-272 HP and 285-293 TQ. So we definitely would see easily another 5-10 horsepower gains and maybe 3-4 torque gains. We usually see anywhere from 25-30hp and 25-30tq total gains. We've seen it a bunch before, but on this particular day our car happened to put down factory freak numbers! -Chris

So many problems with this build already. 1.....why all of those show parts. 2. Chambered mufflers? If you are trying to beat a 5.0L you need to step your game up. 3. I get you guys are trying to sell everyone parts, but you should have just done a final build video. There is no reason to do a basic bolt video. And lastly, you are going to need a driver mod if you were running 14's with a manual 3v. Just sayin.

paladain55 darkmetallink1 navyman8903 if you guys look at what the stock times should be on one of these cars right off the showroom floor, they're actually spot-on. We're using the stock all-season tires at stock tire pressure, stock tune, stock everything. A 5.0L S197 runs roughly 12.8-13.2 depending on driver, we were 12.9. A 4.6L 3V S197 runs anywhere from 13.9-14.3 depending on driver, we were 14.05. Look at the mile per hour... 102. That's what it's supposed to be, but these cars don't launch well with the stock tires, so you can see our 2.338 60ft time is atrocious. This isn't about going out and going as fast as you can with a stock car - adding slicks or deflating the tires adding premium fuel, etc. This is supposed to simulate what 90% of the average Joe who takes his car to a Friday night race at the track will do. -Chris

@davidfrank2824 4 жыл бұрын
You are one hundred percent with your statement. You can see in the mile per hourthat it was the driver not knowing how to handle the car. Without a single modification I guarantee you I could have ran a low 13 or in the 12. When I first started off and drag racing a close friend of mine that's why was helping me to do different things. And when we went back to the track he told me that there was nothing wrong with my car it was my driving. So he asked me could he make the next run and I did let him do it. he had ran one second faster then I did the whole day. Within two to three weeks I was able to get down the track like my friend had done. And I was never ashamed to say I had to learn to drive my car.

14 second 1/4 mile out of a stock 06 GT? Needs a driver mod. The car trapped over 102 mph. That's good for a mid to high 13 with any kind of decent launch. Look at the 60-foot times on their timeslips. The 14 second run was with an AWFUL 2.3 60' time. They picked up their half second by cutting 2 tenths off that time on the modded run and adding a little more power. 2 tenths on the 60' is worth 4 tenths in 1/4 mile E.T. The trap speed increase shows the horsepower gain. Usually adding 10-15hp will gain you a tenth, all other things being equal. I think this video just showed us that these guys can't launch their cars. The time for the 5.0 Coyote was awful. Anything slower than a 13.1 should be thrown out. Even with a mediocre 2.0 60-ft time, those cars run 12.6 to 12.8. Oh, and for a Coyote with the MT82- MGW shifter or nothing.

prob with mustang fanatics is no matter what car they buy, they cry if they can't afford a cobra. I got into this after all the garbage looking "new edge" so I didn't realize that was going on. cobras are ugly beasts of cars but yeah I know they are fast. who cares though? not me.

My 2021 Mustang GT premium was a big lemon. I could live with the cheap plastic interior and glitchy electronics but the clucky garbage 6 speed manual transmission was just garbage! I'm not the only one who thinks so, look at the class action that has been launched against Ford. Fortunately I was able to sell it and buy a real car from another manufacturer. It's no wonder Ford stopped building cars...I'll never buy another Ford...EVER!

Do you guys have to reinforce that fact that mustangs are gay with such whitetrash mods? Caliper covers? really? Way to make an american muscle car RICE!

Would love to see a v6 vs v8 build off. '11 six against '10 eight or some such.
