Even if the AM Valkyrie or some other cars might beat the AMG ONEs lap times, this will always stand out as an incredible piece of engineering. There will always be a faster car eventually, but only one can be the first road legal car with a F1 powertrain. Mad respect to everyone involved!

@@rych7852 No it wasn't a real F1 engine, it was only based on one. F1 engines barely survived a couple of races back then, Ferrari would never have gotten away with putting a real F1 engine in a customer car.

I'm not sure how success is measured here. It's a technological marvel. It also wildly blew out it's timeline, and I'm sure it's budget, and the end result is a very finicky maintenance nightmare whose engine needs to be rebuilt after $30k miles.

Been a Merc fan for years but, (full disclosure I can't afford a Project One), it's a hard pass for me here. After a car gets sufficiently fast, and let's face it you can't use the performance most of your time behind the wheel, it's all about character. To me this isn't Merc character. They've lately become famous for that V8 exhaust note mixed with luxury and performance. Had this, looked a little different, had a large capacity turbo V8, (with hybrid to keep the greens happy), I'd be all over it. As it is, I'd take a Pagani Huayra OR Utopia over this in a heartbeat, (even though they aren't V8s). They have the speed, track usability, looks and luxury that I'd expect from Mercedes. DB should have bought Pagani and made it into a special products division.

I appreciate all the great efforts throughout the years. I have been reading the news since Fall 2017 and been chasing the development. I'm sorry but in a way it would not be a legend to me. A heavy car (1.7 tonnes), for sure if it's fully charged it would be sensational, but if that's with flat battery that's "only" 720ps and this is not quite what a hypercar would be like. A Valkyrie easy beats its power to weight ratio.

Thats why the Valkyrie doesn't compare. The valkyrie is a high downforce addition to the overused "last of the V12s" phrase, this was a different unique project that stands on its own. Great job AMG
