I guess this is the closest we can get to a happy ending with this situation, at least Mafuyu finally stood up to her poor excuse of a mother. Niikai may be rough around the edges (acording to the person from the Prosekai team who gave Kaito his niigo personality) but he's not afraid to show his little soft side which he rarely shows,including his calmer and more relaxed self

I mean, his sternness comes from the group's collective resonant feeling of frustration. KAITO exists as the group's anger and desire to change their circumstances, and is definitely because of Mafuyu subconsciously growing to disdain her mother, but is unable to speak up against her. His anger to the group is only when they back out; when they only half-measure. In that, he is the group's passion and conviction to stay as Nightcord at 25:00.

which is a big step for her, like how she’d been saying she doesn’t feel this or that and like the onky things she’d been feeling was “warmth” (from kanade or 25-ji) or “disgust” in imprisoned marionette, and the occasional heaviness in her chest and whatnot so it’s big step that she’s crying now, she’s really able to feel again. like she’s broken free from her mom so yippee

Exactly. I noticed around Bug/Samsa events especially that although Mafuyu is still far from feeling good, and she’s still hiding herself from other people; she wasn’t the numb, emotionless person that couldn’t even choose an order on a menu herself without being influenced by others anymore. After her computer was taken away, she was terrified and worried for her future and Niigo’s- when a few months before she may have just let it happen, her hopelessness getting worse. The development between the main story and now is insane. Her time with Niigo has helped her build a still weak but noticeable identity for herself, whether or not she’s realized that. It’s just that since the rest of her life still sucks hard, most of her feelings aren’t good ones, but they still matter and they still show her progress. Hopefully now that she’s away from her mother, she can start to really explore who she is and be herself even outside of Niigo and music- and when she gets to that point, I think she’ll have finally achieved the good life she very much deserves.

Like another comments said, Honami and Mafuyu are really similar. Honami did try to fulfill people expectation, though she had different reason from Mafuyu. Honami also once said she had felt wanted to disappear in Kanade Initial card. But I guess, Mafuyu still acted like how she was in School since she isn't that close with Honami.
