@@Christopher-lr8qi I have had the misfortune of delivering two. Never again.

@deerfootnz Great,so you delivered someone else’s boat. I own a Westsail 32. Sailed her last weekend for 35 nautical miles on 1 tack averaging 5.5-6 knots with 10-15 knots of breeze. The W32 is not slow and is actually faster than many other 32 ft sailboats. Is it a race around the buoy boat or turn on a dime to dock at your marina in Miami boat? No, but that’s not what it was intended for. Delivering 2 boats without any other info about the trip is simply anecdotal. I drove a Ferrari in rush hour traffic, it was slow.

@Christopher-lr8qi coincidentally I hate driving Ferrari's too! I delivered one from Cancun to Fort Lauderdale and one from the UK to St Lucia. Probably the worst performing boat I have ever delivered which is saying something. They are VERY slow. I can't think of any other slower 30 footer offhand. The windward ability is so poor as to be dangerous, as is the light air performance.

Good Job. 👍 Well, look at this: Today's varnishes give a nice look to all wood, yes, but it is temporary in harsh weather conditions, especially with SUN and salt water. The varnish only protects the outer layer of the wood and it BREATHS constantly. It is better to maintain the exterior wood with Teak oil or raw linseed oil (NOT BOILED), this penetrates to the interior, which varnish does not. Another nice option is to use the correct shade of CETOL DECK. PS. THAT WESTSAIL 32' GIRL LOOKS VERY GOOD, THEY ARE WELL MADE AND WELL THOUGHT. CONGRATULATIONS.

I wonder how did you put another backing plate on the inside of the mast?

There is a great Aries wind vein rebuild video. I believe from the guy that owns Ares now in Belgium I think. He explains how to take everything apart, heating and tapping on the different components in just the right spots to get everything apart.and reassembles them good as new. It doesn't seem to matter how old your Aries wind vane is. He can take it apart and put it together like it was built yesterday and he shows you how to do it. Great video! i can't wait to see you back out there. PS. I've got the same wind vane you have on my boat.

Believe it or not, I was able to just ease the lock screws and the large steel pin came out with not effort. I just need a new set of bushings and Im good to go
