PROJECT VERTICAL:
Monotony. Dread. Loneliness. Pain. Darkness. Doubt. Fear. Fight. Shame.
Everything that this project represents, and sadly what thousands of men suffer from in silence every single day.
This doesn't have to be the case.
An attempt at the world's first Vertical Marathon (42.2km of vertical gain) in 11 days, to raise funds and awareness for men's health and suicide prevention during Movember.
We climbed our own mountain, to encourage others to climb theirs, whatever that may be.
We covered over 205 miles, with 26,500m of vertical gain in the 11 days we gave ourselves, and most importantly, know that the project managed to start some meaningful conversations along the way.
Be a man of more words, as talking saves lives.
Film by Rolling Rogues: shot by Brodie Hood; edited by Daniel Shepherd.

As someone who's also suffered for years with suicidal ideation, negative thoughts, navigating ever-confusing emotions and feeling incredibly alone with them - I was so connected to what you guys were saying. I still climb my own mountain on a regular basis, but I've developed resilience from weightlifting, training and therapy for a number of years now. Seeing you guys be so vulnerable and so open about it was incredibly moving. I know I wont be alone in thinking - I needed this today and will continue to be inspired by this in the days to come.

Even though I'm subscribed to your channel for a while, I JUST watched this video. As a man and as a man who also has suffered with mental health issues, I truly thank you for you efforts and for your content. The point at the summit with the 80-year-old climber sharing his story and you crying, I don't know why exactly, but I found it beautiful, cleansing and truly touching. Real men cry.

Nick Gardner is from the wee village I grew up in. My parents cared for him and Janet during that time. Seeing his incredible mental strength and physical accomplishment at that age was incredible, a true inspiration. Whatever your struggle, whatever your situation, talk about it, do something about it. Thank you to Fergus and Jonny for both your stark acknowledgment of these huge issues and for your continually commitment in going above and beyond to support young men both in the UK and worldwide

I am pretty new to this channel and all the feats you've achieved. So I realise I'm very late to the party on this particular challenge. But oh my god.!!! I literally didn't expect how emotional this video was gonna get me. I obviously had no idea what both of you had been through in your personal lives. You pair are so inspirational. And such lovely, humble people. And I just felt the need to leave this comment 👍🏻

You know I listened to the podcast with gaz from SEG today I knew what you were doing having listened to contact coffees like talk about it. I just wanted to say after watching this how amazing I think you guys did ! Honestly the fact you didn't finish with your total is something I found totally inspiring this in itself showing winning or finishing isn't everything what you expected done is monumental thank you

Wow what an inspirational video. I loved seeing the hardship you both out yourselfs through. But also the openness you shared of the happy moments, the struggles , the tears. That you are both human with emotions and it’s ok to cry and open up about when you are struggling. Epic love to see more like this.

The physical challenge was obviously immense, but the mental challenge of actually getting up and going again (and again), whilst also having to wrestle with redefining and accepting what constitutes “success” and “failure” for the overall project? Awe inspiring, epic, stunning stuff and nothing but respect.

Excellent film. I believe it achieved its aim: inspiration; giving exposure to mental health issues; the importance of team work, collaboration. But also the realistic message that not all endeavours embarked upon can be achieved first time around, yet that the lessons learned in attempting such feats are often more important than the finish line itself. Also, I cried with you, Fergus, at the summit with Nick, and his story; his personal challenge...
