i was taught that i could use the chapter 8 method of using equations from differentiation/integration of s,v,a instead of suvat. is this true for any question

hi sir, i’m confused on why you have put u=0 when we are meant to find u at 19:32 and how would we know what u to use (eg the vertical or horizontal) thank you!
@BicenMaths22 күн бұрын
It's because there are two different 'u's in this question, one for vertical, and one for horizontal, and combined they make the overall speed of the particle. As it is being projected/thrown horizontally to start with, it doesn't have any vertical speed (it is just going to the right) - that's why u=0 for vertical motion. We then do some calculations to find the u for the horizontal motion, which is 18 m/s. I perhaps could have used different letters so this was less confusing! I hope this helps!

Hi sir, you know when asked to calculate a value for example u(initial speed) do we always have to find it using both horizontal and vertical motion and then pythagorise the two values to find the “acctual value of u”?
@BicenMaths29 күн бұрын
Yes, that's correct!

Hi Sir, i wanted to ask a quick question: in the exam mechanics booklet page 39, how do you know lamda is 9 and vertical V is 12? Thank you !😊

Hey i wanted to ask is you have playlist on kinematic horizontal motion and circular motion Related to radians and this formula(F=mrw^2=mv^2/r)

No I don’t

I apologise if this is silly, but how would we know a question isn't just a regular suvat question but a projectile question?
@BicenMaths8 ай бұрын
Regular SUVAT is just thrown directly up and it comes directly down. Projectiles are thrown like you are throwing a ball across a field, so it has both up and down and along as well!

hi sir, sorry I've got a question How do we know if the gravity value is positive or negative when an object is projected upwards also what happens to the vertical distance and how do we know if it's positive or negative?
@BicenMaths7 ай бұрын
You set a direction as positive when you start - I always do up as positive in projectiles, which means acceleration is always negative. The other values all need to fit that pattern of up as positive and down as negative.

Hi mr bicen i dont get q7 6a because i dont get why there is no force causing the projection to the right but there is only FrMax why is this. Does the particle just randomly start accelerating without a force to like push the particle. in the solution bank there is a force body diagram drawn and there is no force to the right
@BicenMaths Жыл бұрын
When something is projected, it is INITIALLY given a force which gets it launched/projected. Afterwards, it is just slowing down! Imagine this - you throw a tennis ball, and your arm is applying a force to it. But the second it leaves your hand, you’re no longer giving it a force, and it has been projected. The only thing that’s happening now is that it is slowly down because of air resistance. This is exactly the same thing! Projected = given speed but no longer has force applied.

Hey Sir, just to double-check, in year 2 we are still given the SUVAT formulae in the exam booklet right?
@BicenMaths2 жыл бұрын
Yep, that’s correct! But surely you’ll have memorised them??! They’re essential!

@@BicenMaths yes sir I memorised them all back in year 12 😂 for more fluency but I was just stressed I’d forget them in the heat of exams, anyways, thanks for the reply Mr.Bicen 👍

17:42 Sir, why is initial velocity 0 when considering just the vertical motion?
@BicenMaths2 жыл бұрын
Because it’s moving horizontally to start with, there is effectively no vertically motion at all. It’d be the same as thought just being dropped from rest (only considering vertical motion).

@@BicenMaths Hi sir , for horizontal motion since velocity is constant can we assume u=v?
