I’ve been a logger for 10 years. You are correct, use the posted channel or a logging truck will give you the choice of hitting the ditch or being ran over by them. And read the road rules so that you know if you have to clear down(loaded) traffic or when to call and not to call. It differs by road systems quite a bit. If nothing is posted than call up at the start of roads and every 5kms or so unless there is “must call” signs posted than call at them. Also call if you are changing to another road or channel change on a road. And unless otherwise posted traffic coming out(down) the road has right of way and you must clear them at a pullout
@aboversite3 жыл бұрын
Yep, same in Alberta. Not as much up and down as in BC but one direction will be designated "loaded" and the other "empty". "Loaded pickup at 23" or "Empty B Train at 14". Keeps everyone safer.

My ARB air compressor is okay. If I were to do it over I would get a VIAIR constant duty kit. I have two 3.5 gal air tanks welded into the bumper, and that is definitely the way to go. You let the pump run while driving and fill the tanks. Makes the whole airing up process so fast.

Forest next time you do brake pads, try not completely removing the caliper. Remove the bottom caliper bolt but only loosen the top. Use the now-loose top caliper bolt as a pivot and rock the whole caliper up. Hold it in place with a bent wire clothes hanger or something and replace the pads. Still gotta use a clamp to push the caliper open but now you're not messing with a hanging caliper and it should save you some time.

When you filmed driving over the camera going over the rocks showing the underside of the van, it looked like there was a bit of an oil leak coming from the front diff. In the US the popular radio for Off Road use is GMRS, which is UHF that requires a license to use (anyone can buy the radio). They could of been licensed HAM radio operators who can use UHF/VHF and a few other bands with frequencies that wouldn't be in a standard VHF with channels. Or they could also order radios off amazon/rugged radios and using them unlicensed on whatever they were programmed with from china.
@billreid20663 жыл бұрын
In Canada a ham cannot communicate with a commercial radio. There is no "official" ham frequency used for offloading in BC but there are a couple of common ones used. It is a simple annual fee to get your land mobile license so that you can use the RR channels. I have my ham and LMR so I am good either way. In Canada you dont need a licence for gmrs (we have 2 watt limit and no repeaters) we also dont have murs, so it is a little different for us
