From what I have read of Issac Newton, he would not make the claim that, "I discovered gravity." He was quantifying it in western terms and formulae, but he read all that he could, and wrote and analysed human spirit as well as matter. Anyway, thanks for this, really great as a westerner myself, who studied with a teacher from India when I was young, and it is reassuring to see India and her people begin to publish some of the truths of humanity, with improved historical accuracy, for all too see, no matter who one is, or where one lives. He did more than quantifying gravity. He unified 3 different laws of motion (parabolic, elliptical, and hyperbolic) into one equation. The motions were all quantified into independent equations before Newton, as well. His contribution was making those three different equations aspects of a single equation.

Newton himself wrote that he saw far by standing on the shoulders of giants. I presume he meant people such as Euclid, Archimedes, Galileo, Kepler, and Descartes.
