Considering how dark and intense Concerto No. 2 is, Concerto No. 3 is the perfect “next” concerto. Overall it’s bright, optimistic and sunny. Its slow introduction with the shimmering strings and the sudden allegro foreshadow a magical experience.

I absolutely love the part at 22:37, especially because of its incredible orchestration. Leave it to Prokofiev to effortlessly and seamlessly meander through different, clashing keys without making things sound sudden or tonally unstable

Prokofiev has his own unique style, he starts of in home key, beautiful melodies and all, and not a few bars or pages later, it changes keys, it become dissonant and crazy, but not too crazy like shostakovich or schönberg or somthing, a bit more key changes, some more dissonance, and then it surprisingly resolves back in home key! He is one of the greatest musical geniuses out there ( to me at least 😁😁😁😁 ).

I don't know about some of that- parts of Prokofiev are more dissonant to my ears than just about anything of Shostakovich!

@@aaronking4610 Nah....Shostakovich dissonance are more intense and "In Your Face" in my opinion.

The Polistylistic concerto. Romantism, primitivism, neoclassicism and even moments of jazzy-impressionistic textures and harmonies and still being so genuinely structured and balanced.

If you think this is fast, listen to Prokofiev's own performance of it haha
