Hello there, I have a question. When does the “Mastering the Skills” portion start? Even if it’s a rough estimation on the time frame.

BRAVO!!! I fail to find the correct words justifiably complimenting the quality of this video... To whom ever the video was due to being created and presented with such quality both in its explanatory (visual and conceptual) context and general flow of its ease to follow; I can not thank you enough for the efforts you have presented as since I have not seen much that can rival what I have just watched. VERY well done!

Well I learned something new lol. But seriously, my main problem with vanishing points is that in order for a drawing to not look distorted you need the VPs to be well outside your drawing area and unless you use like a giant board were you place thumb tucks with cords or whatever it's very hard to get the lines right so I was wondering if there is a way to figure out VPs accurately without having to actually draw them so you can calculate them properly on even a small drawing. So far no luck on finding such a technique :(
@blankcanvas5619
@blankcanvas5619 Ай бұрын
They don’t always have to be that far apart. It depends on where the object is relative to your cone of vision and the scale of the object as well. The whole idea is that you will practice these concepts long enough that they become intuitive so that you won’t have to draw vp’s (that is unless you are doing technical projections), but for the sake of imaginative creation it just isn’t necessary. All this being said there are perspective grids that can be used with light tables or just as reference that allow you to do just as you wanted. If you don’t like those, they also sell tools to create grids based on curvilinear principles, but they require a learning curve that I feel isn’t worth it when you could just draw the vp’s. Oh and a little trick that I just remembered is to look at and measure angles. What I mean is for ex. All corner angles on one face of a rectangular prism or cube I think should add up to 360 degrees and 180 for triangular prisms. So you can add the angles up to check if that particular face is in correct perspective. From there you would add the other viewable faces and make sure that their angles all add up as well. However I think this only works for axonometric perspective,so what I tend to do is offset the angles connected to the non leading vertices by one or a few degrees and that should get you close enough to the true angles leading to a vp.I know that this is a terrible explanation but hopefully you can understand what I’m trying to say. Anyway hope this helps.

There is a video on this channel where Stan shows how to plot out the lines by dividing the space between them on the edge of the paper when they continue far outside to the vanishing point.

Best drawing / sketching tools: I recommend: 1. mechanical pencils (mine diameter sizes 0,3mm, 0,5mm and 0,7mm), 2. long straight ruler (30 cm = DIN A4 = large college/note block page size), 3. set square (triangular or half circular ruler) with angular scaling range from 0° to 180°, 4. good paper quality 5. on flat surface like a drawing pad or better drawing table (rulers on each side). 6. Today Digital Drawing: a) converting real (analog) hand sketches into digital you might use a camera (smartphone) with vector drawing software (PC CAD system) or b) directly digital drawings using a Digitizer Pad (or versatile Tablet/reMarkable) depending on your drawings sizes.

When I was studying in drawing class they didn't allow us any tools. We were training to make straight lines without ruler and round circles without compass. It is very hard in the beginning, but then you don't need anything but pencil to draw. Think about it😅

IT’S NOT A RULER!!! It is a “rule”. A ruler is one who is the governor, the King. That person makes laws, rules. That person can make rules because they are THE RULER! To draw a straight line one uses “a rule”. If you are going to teach, don’t perpetuate falsehoods.
