Funny, i just did exactly that today (never saw any movie in the franchise before) and although there is interest along the movie to understand what is going on, and also great cast of actors and beautiful scenes/cinematography, I couldn’t but hate it at the end when literally nothing but dumb answers were given, kind of the same feeling you get when watching season 8 of Game of Thrones, but of course nothing beat the stupidity of season 8 GoT, maybe because you see through the whole 7 seasons before getting the stupid ending.

Not a stupid thing, he was a geologist. He thought that he would have to do some geological expertise on an uninhabitable planet. When he saw that he will have to deal with extraterrestrial beings he was terrified. What would you think if you've seen dead alien bodies somewhere. Keep in mind that it is set in a world where first contact did not happen YET.

I really luv the Design of the Prometheus ship when it lands it looks just like one of the Chris Foss illustrations when he did design work on the original film. Can definately see some Ronn Cobb artwork in there too, that shot of Idris Elba casually standing on the flight deck of the ship, as it flies through the crowds is stunning.

I have a prediction of the story: The Space Jockeys are "inviting" the humans to find them. Once the humans find them, the ship (which contains thousands of xenomorph eggs) was supposed to go to earth, and destroy all of humanity, and he crew of prometheus destroys the ship, dying in the process. During that time, they set a warning signal. Then the "main" space jockey gets chestbursted, and fast foward about 50 - 100 years, and you have the plot of Alien set up. I'm pretty sure that's it :D

Alien is one of my favourite films of all time, im not even a sci fi fan generally but Alien did something different and original and made things seem more 'real'- this prequel is pretty exciting if you know the original film well like i do- cant wait......there;s something so much more menacing about horror elements in sci fi than straight horror films, this one looks like its going to be thrilling and terrifying in equal measure- lets hope so

If you watch Prometheus in 3D I believe you will have a much more enjoyable experience. I saw it in 3D and It was a great experience. As far as the actual movie story lines go, you HAVE to see this so that you can understand how the Xenomorphs were created as well as how the "Queen" was created. Yes it could have had a little more action but the back-story to Aliens is important to know.

Think about it this way: while this is a prequel they have better equipment because they are a research vessel and thus have tools specifically catering to their mission. In Alien, they're a cargo ship picking up a distress call at random. Of course they won't have as nice of equipment.

This is an addition to the Alien franchise that I was so hyped for mostly in part because of this amazing trailer that gets you so HYPED. When I saw the movie I liked it. That's the reality of making films like this. The people who create the costumes, sets, music, and effects always come through. Every time we come close to some answers, someone "in-the-know" says that it is evil and shuts it down from coming out to the public..
