All of this is just a side effect of the root problem, which is that arbitrage has become the primary source of income rather than an incidental benefit. Economic value capture has exceeded real value creation and it's continuing to accelerate, starving the real value creation process of productive resources as a result. Put another way, more and more rats are fighting over less and less food.

Seems like serious overreach considering they don't have him on spreading material false information about the companies he covered. Most of their case rests on being overly aggressive with things like price targets, which are just opinions that can't be disproved unless you are a mind reader. Just because you offer a price target of $10 that doesn't mean you must hold it until then and then close the position immediately when it hits your target - that is nonsense. Then they could lock up every analyst on wall street because they all offer idiotic price targets and always have.

For good or bad, he will likely be acquitted. As an Asian American immigrant, I can see both the good and the bad. In a democracy, a person is presumed innocent. All it takes is 1 out of 12 jurors to find there is a reasonable amount of doubt, he will be acquitted. I even watched as an almost certainly guilty drug user (with body cam footage) get a plea bargain after we the jury listened for 3 days of testimonials. This is indeed a poor outcome. But but on the flip side, I came from a country where you are guilty because the state/chairman says so... and both my grandfathers were languished more than 10 years as political prisoners, I sigh but reservedly agree the democratic system is the lesser of 2 evil. But I certainly hope there is a more reasonable middle ground between setting free 10 criminals rather than wrongfully convict an innocent man, vs the opposite where 10 innocent lives are sacrificed for a government can catch 1 person in order to maintain power.

Just one bit of clarification that might help people understand what happened with the case of influencers getting thrown out in Texas isn't really directly about the case happening in Texas (mentioned 14:16). More directly, it is because the federal judge there was appointed by Republican George W. Bush and is known as a doctrinaire conservative. The fact that this justice is in Texas is incidental to that, one could expect a doctrinaire conservative appointed by a Republican president to have tendencies like that anywhere in the country. To explain, in the US conservatives largely take the stance that buyer-beware is the most appropriate way to handle most product or securities disputes. The more conservative the judge involved, the more they tend to rule in that direction. This can be seen in this case, but also in how conservatives approach issues like multi-level marketing companies (which are large Republican donors) and their support for crypto-currencies (which can at times also be seen with more centrist to right wing Democrats). Also this to say a more enlightening description of the judge is he is a conservative in one district and so this case given ongoing appeals is still controversial and not settled law. This avoids the regional distraction that is incidental while also informing those who know what is happening with current US judicial politics that the right wing influence on the Supreme Court may wind up supporting this judge, and that the decision can be identified as part of the larger right-wing shift in US juris prudence that has been particularly notable since the Dobbs decision.

The difference between a money fund and the average retail trader is the money manager has fiduciary duties. Meaning they have to be very careful of how they present information that might affect the market. This video’s take obfuscates the differences between Andrew Left, representative of Citron Research, and Kieth Gill. If the DOJ is announcing something they have a 95% confidence of getting an indictment on Andrew Left. He is screwed, it’s just a matter of time.
