These KZbin courses by Paul are the best available anywhere. Very intuitive and well done.

I love them but I wonder if maybe he's talking too slowly which I will get used to and then be completely lost when it's time to speak to a native Spanish speaker. 😢😢
@MyYvFr3 жыл бұрын
This was so helpful! Previously, I was so confused when I would see the pronoun in different spots on various Spanish lesson sources! Thanks to Paul, I now know that both versions are correct and understood by native speakers. Thanks for explaining! 😊

I'm only a beginner. This video makes it so much easier to understand where pronouns go. I sometimes feel like I'm getting nowhere. Then I come across one of your lessons, and it seems to put me back on track 😊. I am going to Spain for six weeks, and I really want to be able to communicate without a phone doing all the hard work. Native Spanish speakers make the effort and do an amazing job with English. I've always loved the Spanish language but never found the time in my earlier years, and Spanish, when I was at school, wasn't taught. I have been learning Spanish for six months now, and I look forward to learning much more. Thank you, Paul.

I needed this lesson. Because this was always a puzzler for me as to why to use ,"lo," "le," and "when and why would we use, "te." And all of the other like pronouns. Do you have a short lesson for them? Maybe you do. I just haven't seen them yet.
@rreed871395 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you mentioned marcar. The last time I was in P.V., nobody knew what the heck I was saying when I used llamar. I kept repeating llamar over and over, and finally my husband said telefono. "Ah... Telefono!" LOL Or maybe it was because I was saying "como puedo llamarte?", ("how can I call you", to the taxi driver) and I should have said, "te puedes macar?" In the end, I found out you don't call a taxi, you just hail one down. I didn't try speaking spanish the rest of my trip.

1 - The person performing the action, along with the whole assemblage attached to the person (can ,wants, loves, etc.) will always cling to the verb. Example: QUIERO comprar. 2 - The pronoun (LO LE and the like) can come after the verb or before the whole of "the person performing the action + the verb." (Mentioned in section 1) For example: LO quiero comprar 3 - Negation will always come before everything. (Before section 1 and section 2). For example: NO lo quiero comprar 4- When direct and indirect object pronouns are used together in a sentence, the indirect object pronoun comes before the direct object pronoun. for example : no TE lo quiero comprar

Why is “I am going to see her.” “Voy a verla” but “I am going to tell her” is “voy a decirle”?? Why isn’t it “voy a decirla” as in “la” because “her” is feminine. I am so confused. 🤷🏼♀️
@andym284 жыл бұрын
I just took it as one of the random things about Spanish but most things from Spain are based in logic. I would guess to see her could be more informal. I've been learning for 2 years and you get used to things just sounding right so don't worry.
@Laifuiping4 жыл бұрын
I don't know how to explain properly - but I believe the difference is COD complement objet direct for ver & COI complement objet indirect for decir.
@larrynarvaez75454 жыл бұрын
In “Voy a verla” the “la” (her) is the direct object of “ver”. In “Voy a decirle” the “le” (her) is the indirect object of “decir”, so “le” is used instead of “la”. We can say that “her” is the object of the preposition “to” as in I’m going to tell (TO) her. 😊✌️ Verbs like decir (tell), llamar (call), dar (give), preguntar (ask), and pedir (ask) require the indirect object pronoun “LE” for him or her (and NOT “lo” for him or “la” for her). 😊✌️
