@Caitlyn Carvalho Fun fact: Did you know Tara Strong, best known for Timmy Turner in the Fairly OddParents, and Twlight Sparkle from MLP:FiM, was originally casted to voice Red Riding Hood? It was a last minute decision to change the actress to get more attention. All is not lost for Tara, as she would voice Red Riding Hood in a different media: Shrek video games, where Red Riding Hood has a more prominent role than her Shrek-movie counterpart, even to the point of acting very similar to her Hoodwinked counterpart, making me believe “Hoodwinked” Red was originally gonna share the same voice as Tara’s “Shrek” Red, as well as Twilight Sparkle.

One fun discrepancy between Wolf and Red's stories that I don't think I've ever seen someone point out: the cliff Wolf falls off into the river is a lot higher in his story than it Red's. Not a significant detail at all, but just a neat little touch that shows actual effort and creativity in the movie's visuals, even if they aren't the best looking.

Eh, with the whole bag of anti fox products the Hopps had, I'd say it falls into the inspiration category. Though I'm probably stretching it here lmao.

I remember reading somewhere that because the production team knew right away they weren't going to master the 3D animation like the big name studios of Dreamworks and Pixar, they intentionally decided to treat the animation process as akin to the stop motion specials you see on Christmas, hence the plasticy jagged movements. Knowing that the look of the movie was intended to be reminscint of this cheap animation style really does help me swallow the animation, but thankfully the movie's writing and performance work really carries the whole thing.

It cracks me up how the film's visual flaws actually kinda enhance the villain song ending. As Wolf says, "the choreography was terrible." Kirk's part was kinda needed. Mostly because there is a woodsman in the Red Riding Hood story.

I have the best memories of this movie! I first saw it at a drive-in theater that was on the roof of a mall in South Africa. We were 6 siblings cramped in the car with my Aunt and Uncle .

I'm pretty sure my family is helping to keep physical soundtrack price inflated as we keep tracking down and buying copies. The fact the many of the songs were written and performed by the writers/directors partly ties into the low budget, but also shows how carefully crafted every aspect of the film was. The effort shows, and I love getting to see reviewers bring attention to what these guys accomplished on a budget. Thanks!

Hoodwinked was a favorite for my family. My dad burned it on a DVD and we watched it so many times growing up. Unfortunately, someone fucked up the disc and the movie skips the wolf's part (AKA: the BEST part), so I haven't watched it in a while. We literally still quote this movie to each other (also, don't dare say "schnitzel" around me unless you want to hear me sing the schnitzel song lmao).

This movie has strange animation BUT the story is fun, the characters are likable especially Wolf and Red AND the songs are all original! Heck you even got a rap about Granny pocket, that's cool 😃The villain is predictable though and his song is a bit annoying, the rest is good. I like this film!

This is the earliest I can trace back my love of mysteries to--seeing this movie as a six-year-old. I remember being enthralled by the puzzle-piece way the story was told as much as by the story itself. I remember learning how to do a villain reveal the way this movie did. The comedy cracks me up no matter how many times I see it. This remains one of my favorite movies, and as a mystery writer now, I still hold it in a special place in my heart. So glad to see others love it too!

The writing is so good I could see Wolf reaching Granny's home first as a low-key Emperor's New Groove reference: "You got me. By all accounts, it doesn't make any sense" - Kronk, also voiced by Patrick Warburton.

6:36 - No, Red *DOES NOT* kill the bird (a duck).-- we can hear him say "I'm okay" after the crash. 7:07 - As far as I am aware, we are given no clear indication of Boingo's orientation. For anything we know, he could be straight, bi, pan, or entirely disinterested in anything but his evil villain plans. ...I had always assumed the goat's name was pronounced as, "JAY-peth"... Also, Kirk the Woodsman-- I mean, Actor-- is a fun character. The goat Japheth could even more easily have been cut without impairing the story, but such side characters add color and entertainment. Besides, as another commenter noted, the whole idea was to include ALL the core characters' perspectives. The fact that he knew almost nothing about anything was part of the joke.

Hoodwinked could have *easily* ended up as yet another fairy tale parody trying to bank off of Shrek's success. But the fact that everyone involved with it gave it their 100% really shines through and has , in my opinion, allowed it to stand the test of time.

The director revealed how the cast got so stacked in a podcast a while back. Apparently, the script fell into Patrick Warburton’s hands and he loved it. He called up the filmmakers and asked to do it. But it went beyond that. He thought the script was amazing and loved the directing team. He knew they needed help with casting because he was aware of their budget and he basically went recruiting for them. He’d go to parties and pitch the movie so hard that the directors would literally wake up to voice mails from actors saying, “Hi. This Andy Dick. We haven’t met but I was talking to Patrick last night and he said you’re working on one of the funniest scripts he’s ever read. If you’re free for lunch, I’d love to see if there’s a role for me.” Most of the actors asked to be part of the movie because Patrick Warburton was so passionate about it.

I love this movie and even today i'd put it up there as one of my faves, the humor, the characters, the story, everything just fits for me, except the animation, but idc it's still iconic. Also the spanish dub is incredible, i highly recommend it to my fellow bilingual folk

in my 6 year old mind, the reason that the Woodsman didn't have a huge role was because Hoodwinked really likes flipping the original narrative of the og Little Red Riding Hood (ex. the Wolf not being the actual villain), and in the original story the Hunstman was The Hero, he plays a huge role and saves the day, so they flipped his role to be small.

Pretty sure Anne Hathaway and Patrick Warburton probably took this project on for the hell of it, this was relatively early in Anne’s career, Hoodwinked came out between The Princess Diaries 2 and The Devil Wears Prada, she was only beginning to hit stardom back then And as for Patrick he just does random shit sometimes, man’s got like 183 acting credits over the last 3-4 decades of just the most random projects you can think of, Hoodwinked fits right in honestly

It's so weird to see someone on youtube roughly my age making this type of content. Every time you mention how old/young you were when a movie came put I have to go through the same process of "That can't be right" [Look up release date] "Oh wow, it is" I simultaneously enjoy and hate it.

God I love this movie and it’s great! I never really cared or was worried about the animation (besides the pretzel children and Kirt’s hair) and loved every character (besides Kirt, I liked him. He’s an okay Himbo.). I would always sit down to watch this movie, CN or DVD. It’s one of the movies from my childhood that I held so closely to my heart. Thank you for giving it the respect it deserves! I especially love the song “Critters have feelings” and would literally play the animated music video on repeat just to listen to it since I have the DVD. About the sequel, it’s fine. It’s completely different story structure-wise from the first and I do like it. Funnily yet unsurprisingly enough, the villain(s) there is similar to this one’s.
