The WNBA is financially backed by the NBA. The NBA has been keeping is alive since the beginning. It’s a tax right off for the NBA. As it’s a charitable donation every year. The WNBA shouldn’t be still running if it was ran like a real business it would have gone bankrupt along time ago. It only really got off the ground because the NBA pays for it every year. As they can’t find big enough sponsors to sponsor the league as a whole.

@@kennedybj1 It's due to increased costs. The main one being that they all use charter flights now like the NBA. They used to just fly on regular flights. The CC effect will take a couple of years to flow on as existing TV rights and other contracts expire. The new ones will be negotiated at a much higher rate if the fans keep watching. If I was CC I'd be asking for a % ownership of the league if they start making money.

Also Caitlin's style of play is also similar to Sabrina Inoescu from the Liberty who actually participated in a shootout against Curry last year because their styles are so similar, but you wouldn't know because according to you "nobody cared before Caitlin." WNBA actually signed more network deals last year to be on TV more because they were already on the rise but "nobody cared about the WNBA before Caitlin." Caitlin did sign deals with Gatorade, Nike, State Farm, but so did other players. Don't know what other high commercial products she has that are so special other than her Nike deal but you can tell me. If you say her selling out arenas, sure, but the Aces sold out all of their home games, not just the ones they play the Fever. Overall, i think Caitlin did a great job of bringing new viewers to the game, but not all viewers. She's a great player but she isn't the best in the league at this time. Rabid fans who are Caitlin or bust will fall off after a few years once the fad and hyper focused media attention dies down.
