@FZAquascapeIdeas would you grow carpet plant like Monte Carlo on garden soil or is aquarium soil a must?

Great timing! I was gathering materials after watching Aquarium Plant Lab and looking for a Maxigrow replacement. Thanks for showing you're using Masterline products-they're available in my country. Thanks again!
@FZAquascapeIdeas4 ай бұрын
Thank you also. Maxigrow might be much cheaper but MasterLine are amazing ferts for aquarium as well. No point in having so many types of ferts... His trays are way better then mine tho...
@RetraNature4 ай бұрын
@@FZAquascapeIdeas Yes, I have that size. He uses a 10-inch by 20-inch tray. You can search for "1020" tray and dome. By the way, your DIY with the mesh is pretty good. Maxigrow is a dry fertilizer that you need to mix yourself, but I think Masterline is better. Both have lower phosphorus (P) compared to nitrogen (N) and potassium (K) levels.

@@RetraNature yes and ML also provide some micro as well. But the strange thing is about 1 year ago i tried out to propagate moss in cups from in vitro plants. And used only plain water, no ferts and it still grew quite fast. (Was just floating them in my tanks for light) I think for the 10/20 trays he put some links as well but for now i have 6 10x15 and it's enough for me. And for monte carlo / hc cuba i dont need the mesh tray cuz i have to use some soil on the bottom...

I have no ideea but if you have very hot summers and no AC you will have some problems. If you portion a full tray in 6-8 smaller pots you can sell each one for like 10 usd/euro. But keep around will show you soon how to propagate some other plants in trays, maybe that will be helpful as well...

humm I am gonna have to try this. I mostly do saltwater tanks but i love moss and want to do an aquascape or two focusing on moss. i'll need a lot of it. what type do you suggest for beginer moss growers and scapers?
@FZAquascapeIdeas2 ай бұрын
Depending on what you have in plan. But you can also try a dry start method. You besically put some moss in the blander and then with a brush you apply the blended moss on the hardscape, you cover it with a food foil and spray water daily for about a month. Then you can flood the tank and plant the rest of the scape with stem plants, and whatever you want. Or you can try my method if you have enough time to plan ahead and propagate your moss first. Best of luck with fresh water as well!

Can i use any type of fertilizer like the fertilizer used for normal garden and plants ?
@FZAquascapeIdeas2 ай бұрын
Yes you can use those as well. We avoid those for aquarium beacause they have a lot of Cu (copper) and that would kill our shrimps. So maybe rinse well the moss before you add it back to aquarium 😉

When you said cheap led light system, do you need full spectrum growth lights? Or just normal LED lights for household will work just fine?
@FZAquascapeIdeasАй бұрын
I use regular household lights. The full spectrum is a marketing BS The white light contains enought blue and red for our plant to grow. I also have high end light units but not for this experiments...

I have room temperature and the climate in Romania is soft. The room temperature range between 25 and 30 (rarely 32) celsius degree. I think i mentioned in the video about the water (maybe only in the carpeting plant propagation method) but for each 500 ml of water I add 10ml of masterline all in one boost.

Hi I got a question, can I just buy 1 box of moss to start this project, and the moss will propagate as many times as i want, as long as I cut them into small pieces and replant them in new trays? Or will they stop propagate at a certain time and just die off and I have to buy new moss to restart again?
@FZAquascapeIdeasАй бұрын
You can start directly if you buy a box of moss but if it is in vitro (gel) you need to rinse it very well. After you fill up a tray i would recomend you to sink it in your tank if you delay too much and you try to spred it more and more it tends to turn black and ugly. Stil viable but not pleasent looking...

@@FZAquascapeIdeas sorry last question for your lid on top of your plants. Did i hear correct to keep it slightly open for oxygen to circulate around? I thought your supposed to leave it sealed to build humidity
@FZAquascapeIdeas3 ай бұрын
@@eric_chaput no it is sealed. But you have 2 small windows in the lid that you can adjust, is like 2x5 cm. You can either open them and have 2 openings of 2x2 cm but i keep them like half open or even less. If i go away from home I close them more but when i'm home to sprinkle every couple of days it's fine. P.S. i'm happy to ask any questions, don't worry about it!
