You signposted me here and thank for you doing so. One thing I’ve found is that working on your wrist angles video encouraged a better releasing motion - of my arms hands and club and seemed to blow the head backwards automatically. Trying to release with the body and ‘hold lag’ caused me to drag it all forwards, hunched and chicken winging it. So needless to say this video really resonated with me. Thank you.

Man, I just recorded some swings in slow motion from down the line, uploaded it to some analyzer app where I can draw on it, and noticed my head moving possibly more than I thought it should, but wasn't sure. I thought, "wonder if those AMG guys have a head movement video" so I went to KZbin and this video was the first recommended video on my homepage. Creepy, but very convenient! Love the videos and how thorough you two are in exploring the data and relaying it to us in an easy-to-understand way. Thanks!

Man, I just ❤️ the channel. especially the avatar videos with the gears. Gives gr8 evidence & provides me new ideas to go practice all the time. Up here in Alaska so practicing indoors eagerly anticipating summer. ❤️ the idea that some head movement is actually good (athletic motion). Serious question (because I have issues) about the backswing terminology. Hogan ‘lean in’ & Snead ‘squat’. Could use some clearing up. Seems to me that there are so many different ways to use the hips in the takeaway, transition & downswing. I’m a bit confused on perhaps ‘feels’ or if everyone is just moving different & us average golfers are to choose a style or path to take. Seems to me copying Hogan, Snead & your breakdowns are all great ideas. But is Hogan’s lean in the same as Sam Sneads squat (where his knees almost separate) ? Seems that doing a takeaway, lean in, squat & rotate is a bit much to do & makes it difficult (for me anyway) to not rush the down swing. Seems like the ‘lean in’ is more of a continuation of going towards to the ball around our backsides as where the Snead ‘squat’ is more of a move forward towards the front left foot. What is a guy to do ? Please explain ...

Hi Boys from Aus and thanks for the great content. I noticed from your model his head was going down and forward towards the ball slightly. I am trying to maintain height (feeling like I’m getting taller) in my backswing and avoiding moving forward. Would this be something you would suggest I aim for? Cheers

I had a friend tell I was moving my head a little off the ball in the back swing & a little through after impact. I am hitting the ball really well & that's what I want. I checked my head movement with a shadow on the ground drill. I am rotating around my neck spine position. It looks exactly as your examples. I'm going to ignore his advice. I loved your video, it confirmed I'm swing well.

I have a twisted and curved spine, and arthritis in my lower back..Early on I had instructors tell me that I needed to keep my head still, well, you can imagine the problems this caused for me. So, I stopped taking lessons for some years. During which time, I developed some bad habits. Then I met my current golf friend, who is a very good player, and he asked why I kept my head so still, I told him, then he told, try and keep your eye on the ball, but let your head move some. Well, that opened a few new doors for me, I still have ac couple of swing issues, some you guys have helped me fix. Thanks, and keep up the good work..

In the several decades I’ve been playing, nobody has ever told me to keep my head in a position the way Shaun does at 1:35. I know he’s exaggerating to make a point, but it’s still ridiculous. I’ve only heard to let the shoulders bring the head up in the follow-through. It has always been about watching the ball through contact however that needs to be done. I obviously can’t speak for most golfers and it’s very possible what they’re suggesting is often taught, but I’ve never seen it. I used to have a big problem with swaying until I learned to keep my head relatively still. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t rotate, it just means that there is much less movement backward and forward, away from or toward the target.

Gr8 video guys. I sway off the ball big time. Your videos have helped me not swinging with flat shoulders (been a huge help) found that I (thru filming) turn the club off line at the top of the swing (like Fred Couples) & think this may be my right elbow position. Do you have a video on this or can you speak to it (top of the swing hints or positions) I feel like my right elbow gets to maybe 5 o’clock below my hand or to the right should it swing more to 7 o’clock below my hand (when it’s doing the tray of meatballs)

Great video once again, at some point would you consider doing a more detailed analysis regarding eye dominance in the golf swing. Iam right eye dominant and right handed, and i think this has caused some neck issues for me. I believe 80 percent of us are right eye dominant and I would be interested to hear your take on this and how eye dominance affects, head position and movement, length of backswing, weight shift etc. Thank you. 😊

Good stuff, I actually bought two microphone stands and some pool noodles... one to help track my head movements and one to watch where my backside (butt) was going (forward and back). My head movement was way off, i was trying to keep it still, that seemed to flatten out my shoulder movement and I was hitting the ball inconsistent, it also got me imbalanced so that my hips were coming forward and I was houzelling the ball on miss hits. I fixed the head movement and the rest got better instantly.

The trigger of rotating the head to put the left eye on the ball....very important for right swinging/ left eye dominant people. Snead, Hogan, Nicklaus....all did this. It starts the swing, and gives the sensation of being behind the ball, promotes the turn. I am left eye dominant. If I catch myself focusing on ball at address with my right eye, getting the backswing started feels severely inhibited. Left eye on ball gets my right side square instead of hanging out over ball. Eye dominance huge IMO. Idea for another video? Thanks for the vid.

Could you guys do a video looking at proper “head depth” throughout the swing? I think an overhead view would be best to capture what I’m trying to understand. I’m told I should keep my head depth in the same position at impact as I have at address. So in an overhead view I would be curious to see, at impact, if pros’ move back behind where the head started at address.

Thanks for the videos showing the golfers with their head movements. My head moves forward past the ball then back in the downswing. I was told this was a fault. Now I know its not and its a huge part of generating speed. Not the head moving forward per se but as part of the motion for speed. Wish I never went to these teachers. Now I'm stuck in thought at the ball. How do I go about just feeling the shot when at the ball? I'm a plus handicapp and now a head case.

@@AthleticMotionGolf Thanks for the suggestion. I use to forward press with the hands as a swing trigger. Unfortunately I was told to stop doing that as well. Nothing else works as a trigger except for a forward press which I was doing without even knowing it. Now I'm stuck consciously forward pressing which doesn't have the same effect. But thanks to this video - I went to the range and started feeling some confidence and yesterday shot a bogey free 65 which was nice. Just went right up to the ball and tried hard to not care about my setup and just feel the target which let myself hit the shot to get it there. Did the same thing on and around the greens.

Good video... but I wish I could say this to all coaches who make KZbin videos - please don't exaggerate any of the movements which are faulty. People watch the video and say oh that's not me - I don't do that. If one could illustrate a regular common movement however subtle and teach us how to pick up the cues I think a lot of watchers might relate to the teaching better. Just a thought.

The Mike Austin type of swing says that you have to swing centralized around the upper end of the spine being still and that avoids back pain. Nevertheless you get optimal ball speed by the compound pivot and the throwing motion. What do you think?

You have been banging us gently to get the BS right with pressure moving to the left leg early. But this is the missing link for us old guys to stay stacked with your chest more centered over the hips at impact. This is the key to effortless power so keep holding our heads to this concept of making the proper head movement!

Keeping your head down is really important and it makes perfect sense. It gives you a focal point, the ball, which is the thing you're trying to hit. Also the head remains still and down and the arms and the rest of the swing rotate around it. The head will naturally come up if you keep it down. Lifting too early can and often pulls you up off the ball and does make you top it. Annoying when people try and nit pick good advice. I heard someone say intelligence is taking something complicated and making it simple. This kind of advice of keeping your head down, is a simplified and condensed piece of knowledge which helps people. Your really long video with all sorts of ideas and diagrams etc is the opposite.
@AthleticMotionGolf

@@AthleticMotionGolf Nope not true and you're wrong and just being pedantic. Its intelligent advice basically telling you not to come up out of the shot until you've struck the ball. Which is a simple tip and also by looking at the ball your focusing on where your making impact which is going to result in a better strike.
@AthleticMotionGolf
@AthleticMotionGolf 2 жыл бұрын
@@danielkelly8756 This is why it's alway best to leave the instruction to the professionals. You started off by making a lengthy post just to take a shot at our video. Citing the head should remain still. Which is patently wrong proven by the thousands of professional swings we've captured by placing 3 sensors on the head and tracking its movement. So you're not arguing with us, you're arguing that EVERY great player we've captured is wrong. Instead of acknowledging that incorrect statement, you're changing it to keeping your eye on the ball. Which has nothing to do with anything we've ever said in this or any other video. I doubt you'll find any competent instructor who advise not looking at the ball, but that is NOT the same as keeping your head down and still. There's rich irony in the fact that your simple and concise first comment was objectively wrong. Now needing to veer off the topic of the video to expand and complicate what you originally said, lol. Maybe your threshold for intelligence should also include something about being accurate and correct. Just a thought.
