Coach you are a genius. I was just struggling with a guy who survived my back take twice in in the same night because he fought my seatbelt grips. I never would have thought of that detail you showed. Thanks and I hope to train with you again sometime 😀

Such a vital point about reaching for the bicep, I developed a bit of a bad habit of doing that, lost a few chokes before I had to rethink my approach. Realised this is what I was doing wrong.

Love the content long time subscriber, I do have to say that I disagree with a couple of things here but I only talk about one out of respect. Protecting your choke arm seems really effective except for the fact that the hand that you're holding the choke arm with has your thumb on the very top of your forearm literally the easiest point of entry is just a bend your thumb back...and done. But great content man!

Do you have any details on the hooks? How do you prevent them from turning into you? Is a body triangle a good strategy?
@TeachMeGrappling5 жыл бұрын
Yes a body triangle is great if it suits you. For me I prefer hooks most of the time. Pull your hooks in toward the groin and squeeze your thighs. Pull your opponent toward you with the seatbelt and extend them.

Hi coach... I am getting into stalemates here when they( my training partners) catch hold of my choking hand with both their hands. They can't break my hold, but I can't choke them or switch my hand as well because if the hold breaks, then they have a two on one which they use to get out
Thanks a ton- sorry ABT asking a question that was already answered. I had somehow missed that video

@Uncle_Jay136 жыл бұрын
I didn't see you cover this but isn't that position perfect for single-wing chokehold. Ik BJJ has adapted techniques from judo and I noticed you had several openings to gain the single wing, he can't defend with his left arm once it's in place either.
@TeachMeGrappling6 жыл бұрын
Do you mean to choke him with a half Nelson in? Are you asking in Nogi?
@Uncle_Jay136 жыл бұрын
Here I found a video showing it. From the position where you are controlling the wrist under his left arm wouldn't it just be easier to do this?: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoSwpKV8rMmod9U
@Uncle_Jay136 жыл бұрын
It can be modified GI and nogi. With nogi your have to wrap under the neck as usual and inhale. With the left arm caught in the hold from single wing chokehold you can push his head forward.
@TeachMeGrappling6 жыл бұрын
I’m going to give you my honest opinion. This is a gi choke and it really isn’t effective at even a moderate level for Nogi . Yes I will cover on a video in the future how to choke without locking your hands in anyway but when I do it, I will have wrist control, or a modified RNC. If I am mistaken please make a short video so I can understand the exact position you are speaking of. Thank you! 🙏
