Raising my hand as a "barren" woman. The prophecies that I would get pregnant were too much. My husband is one of 9 children. All of his older married siblings had kids and it seemed like I "should" be pregnant after the honeymoon. That did not happen. Some prayed for me and not because I went to the altar. I was met after church for an impromptu prayer meeting without me inviting them. They were so concerned about it. My husband is also a minister so all couples in the ministry will have kids. Right?! I remember a woman gave me baby booties "she knitted herself" as a sign that her prayer and prophecy that I would conceive would happen. It didn't happen. It was heartbreaking to hear that I would get pregnant and not. The best prophecy that I received was that I would be a mom and I did. We adopted three children. Even though I think the person who said it believed that I would become pregnant like a lot of women in my church

The pain of infertility is heartbreaking. Adding false prophecies to it just prolongs and increases the sadness. We are so sorry this happened to you. We can relate unfortunately. But we are so happy that you were able to adopt and become a mom! What a blessing! Thank you so much for sharing. These stories are so important to all of us walking through our journeys OUT of abusive systems like this ❤️

It seems to me and has been my experience within the UPCI, that when people or pastors "prophecy," they are either completely vague or they use it as an opportunity to shame the congregation of believers. It also sets them up as being more special than the rest of the believers. So dangerous. Thank you so much for teaching people to think critically; you're both a blessing.

I went to Cunningham's church for four years. Hearing his voice is a trigger for me. I felt like I needed to fact check him so many times because he would say stuff that is super outlandish. The amount of people that have left his church is SHOCKING. Like, I know people are deconstructing and leaving churches like this, but he has had SO MANY PEOPLE leave.

Really tough subject, I appreciate you addressing it because I don’t think those in the UPC realize the seriousness of speaking on God’s behalf. My ex husband and I were very close with a very prominent UPC evangelist for a period of time. This man would call me when my husband was at work, telling me that if we didn’t move to Illinois, our four children would be lost. I was so fearful and believed him. We ended up moving and it was a disaster for all of us. Everything he told us, none of it happened. He disowned us after we left the UPC. My ex husband was completely devastated, to the point of serious depression.

I was told while going through IVF and several miscarriages that I would have a baby within the year. He did this publically and we were trying to keep it private. It was another 2 years before our 8th IVF worked and I was finally pregnant. It is so hurtful and it changed how I view these men and these "words"

I don't remember the context, but for some reason my pastor always talked about how there was always a devil in the back row. He had to watch us to see what was going on, to see what he was fighting against. Some of the stuff I was told as a child scared me, but I always thought the devil in the back row thing was comical.

Besides saying, God said this could be the last night...God said in his Word that No Man knows the day or the hour, not the angels, not the son, but the father. Paraphrasing. GOD'S WORD® Translation "No one knows when that day or hour will come. Even the angels in heaven and the Son don't know. Only the Father knows. Matthew 24:36

Am I hearing this correctly, the Tongues in Acts are the same Tongues Paul is talking about in 1COR14:27-28?

Isn’t prophecy supposed to edify the church? 1 Corinthians 14:2-4 “2 For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit. 3 On the other hand, he who prophesies speaks to men for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation. 4 He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church”. Thank you for yet another stellar podcast/discussion on how prophecy is abused and misused!

One Gospel: Gospel of Reconciliation. Jesus Christ came into THEIR kingdom to reconcile fallen angels unto Himself. We are the fallen angels (ELOHIM) kept in DNA chains of darkness. If you do not confess being a fallen angel in Lucifer's kingdom, then you are an unbeliever. Unbeliever = those that claim to be made in the image of ELOHIM(gods). REPENT FALLEN ANGELS.

T.s.35:20 If God isn't using Tongues and Interpretations to direct the body/edify, then what are they for? Paul gave specific instructions on the use of Tongues followed by Interpretation. I totally understand the abuse of these Gifts in the Churches today, but that doesn't mean that these Gifts are not to be used. Are you saying that Tongues are just to Glorify God as in Acts?
