To update you guys on where I am now in my PPL training, I am currently doing my last two review flights then taking an end of course test for the class and then my check ride. Wonderful and insightful episode as always. I am almost finished with my commercial certificate at ERAU, trying to figure out which path is best for me. Would you be able to explain the process of changing bases at an airline? Is it difficult? How does it work with seniority? Do you think the corporate life would be more desirable for someone who may want/need to move around more for a spouses job? Would it be wise to try the airlines first to see if you like that lifestyle before trying cooperate? Thank you for the awesome content!

How do professional pilots find contract work? Is it all based on your net work? Or is there a central repository where people list their type ratings and then you contact them?

There are several big staffing services that help with this. But mostly you make friends with people in your industry that fly your plane and we exchange services. There is also Facebook groups for each airplane that people post opportunities.

Our lives are very happy with our profession. We're home more than most fathers in a given week, they also have the opportunity to travel with us. That's a great question. Thank you for asking.
