Great video! I will never complain about how my 12 minute drive to downtown Minneapolis can sometimes take 18 after meeting someone in NY who has to take a car, train, ferry, and subway for a nearly 2 hour commute each way.

Thank you so much!! And I couldn’t agree more. 4 hours of commuting in a day sounds exhausting. And I even love to drive.

I'm about to move to the twin cities; its kind of unreal how my technically shorter NYC commute is on par in time with what it'd take me to travel a much longer distance btwn the areas in St Paul and Minneapolis Id need to go. Lol. Tbf, there's very little "friction" here to get the things done I need, though
@Healthyagingwithmarvin Жыл бұрын
You confirmed why the Twin Cities are on my radar. The "lack of friction" with a lot of amenities like useful transit, bike infrastructure, good healthcare, and decent schools are the reason the Minneapolis is on the list. Thanks for posting.

Incredible vibes in this one. Love MN. Pro tip to make the winters a little easier, find a winter activity. A lot of parks have outdoor ice rinks for hockey, a lot of trails are groomed for cross country skiing, there are also fantastic sledding hills just to name a few.

Totally agree. I don't live there, but hope to someday. Some neighboring states have slightly lower temps in the summer, but the humidity in the Twin Cities is notably lower. There are of course days where this isn't the case, but I totally agree with you. Overall the humidity in the summer is decent.

I thought you might mention the skyway systems, Mpls in particular. I think it's the longest in the world. You can walk for miles around downtown and never have to step outside. St Paul's skyway is no slouch either, although it's not nearly as impressive as Mpls. One could spend an entire day exploring the restaurants, shops, delis, etc. Also, the Mall of America, Minnehaha Falls, all the apple orchards and golf courses, the abundance of nature trails, and the miles upon miles of off street bike trails in St Paul. And all the summer festivals, outdoor concerts and special events, such as the rib and beer and chili festivals, uptown art festival, and plethora of live music venues. There's also a huge population of weekend people that spend weekends "up at the cabin" they own on one lake or another all the way up to the BWCA. You could make many hours of videos on popular activities here, especially with all the lakes. They're not limited to 3 seasons either. There's hunting, ice fishing, snowmobiling, tons of winter activities. Yes, it's cold, but more than half the winter days here are calm, sunny, and not unbearably cold. Personally, fall and winter are my favorite seasons here.

By the way, what band are/were you in? What genre? The 80's and 90's rock and metal scene here is lengendary... second to none. I have young people tell me what a cool era that was to experience. I lived in LA 89 to 92 and as fun as that was, it just didnt have the same energy as the Twin Cities scene. LA metal scene was stuck on pop/hair metal bands...image conscience cookie cutter GNR-type bands paying clubs to play a few songs, in hopes of being discovered. The music here was more creative and progressive...better. You're too young to have been there but I'm sure you've heard all about it. It was the best 2 decades to be a young adult in the Twin Cities music scene!

I've lived in Mpls for over 20 years. I agree getting places like to the Lakes or grocery stores or other shopping ares is quick and easy for the most part. If there's construction which is all Summer long could be a problem.

I've been to the US twice and one of those trips was to Minnesota. It was january 2015 and it was cold as fuck even by local standards. Almost froze to death. And i'm from Russia! But what struck me most was that locals would never wine about how cold it was, how they would want to move somewhere south etc. If one lives in Minneapolis he enjoys his winters. That's nice, i like that attitude.

You: "Our taxes are quite high" Me in California: "It could be worse" Jokes aside. Loving the videos I have seen from you, super helpful. Would love it if you had a video or segment in videos regarding job market. I know it may not be your area of expertise as someone in real estate, but as a long time local you might have some insight into how things look there and what industries have been on the rise. I know you mentioned the economy and the presence of big businesses in the area, but I'm more referring to thriving industries (like the Healthcare industry in MN) or what fields you have seen growing. I've done my own research but always better to hear from locals than the internet.

Additionally, I have spoken with some of the the Latinos that I have encountered and they too have experienced discrimination from the black people. That breaks my heart that we Latinos have to experienced this Behavioral!!

In the taxes section you gave away the story. Yep, 6th in income taxes... 26th overall in taxes? That tells you right there that while incomes taxes are higher than other states, property taxes and government fees are a lot lower. You've got people paying higher property taxes in a small town in Wisconsin than some almost bougie neighborhoods in the Twin Cities (slight exaggeration).
