All that really matters for ground clearance is tire size, if you want to increase ground clearance tires are the only way to raise those diffs and lower control arms. A 3 inch body lift and a 6-7.5 inch lift kit is absolutely enough to throw 37s and 40s on a silverado with some minor cutting and trimming. Ask me how I know. The only thing that is a negative to most is how it impacts your towing. There's also ways to brace your hitch and make it even more stout than oem. The real negatives to body lifts are completely manageable

I agree it is personal preference but for price an ride quality body lift is the way to go. Far as ground clearance doesn't matter how much of what lift you have if you have 33s a 12 inch lift ain't gonna give you anymore ground clearance then a six inch with 33s. A 3 inch body let's me clear 315s on a 95 crew cab. An was cheaper an easier then suspension lift an still have the option of a torsion lift. Good video bro keep it up!

Very good video. Answered my question very well. I am definitely going body lift because the more stock I can keep my suspension the better. Im also going cut out flares. I will running probably 37s and ive had a couple Silverados with suspension lifts and the truck suspension just falls apart after short time using on the farm . So I am going a different approach. Im upgrading all suspension parts with stronger parts but not lifting suspension and just going body lift and cut out flares. With 37s axles will truly have more clearance but will still have good ride and all moving components won't be on crazy angles that cause premature failure

I do alot of winter 4wheeling up here in Canada to get to my favorite ice fishing spots . That's why I'm going 37s. A tall tire I can air right down and crawl

Hey man what size is that body lift? I think I'm going to do a 3" one on to go along with my leveling kit (08 Sierra Ext Cab SLT 4x4)

3” body lift. I say do it. If you don’t like it you can always take it off. But I honestly love mine. If you watch my other videos on how to hide it from looking like it has a body lift it’s very easy to hide. Most people don’t even know I have one.

Can you fit 315/75/16 with a 3 inch body on 2001 silverado. I had that on an 02 but I feel like the 02 set higher. Torsions are cranked and rub with 305/70/16 when backing up full turn

also if you have to do a trans it is 100% easier with a body lift to get at the top bell housing bolts

I like body lifts but under the hood there is so many things that have to be extended some things are more complicated then others basing it off 3" body lift on tacoma having to deal wth the brake lines thats mounted to the firewall then you have the fuse box sits on the inner wheel but the electrical wires are tied down on the frame you also have power steering hoses that have to be extended just so much involved the kits will show all the bolts spacers brackets for front rear bumpers but not giving you everything else to extend hoses accept gas filler hoses, another thing is no matter having a stick shift or automatic when cab is lifted 3" the shifter will be dropped down further so that needs to be extended as well so you think with all thats involved is it really worth it or just get a suspension lift instead.

No sir the frame and suspension of the vehicle will stay at the same height so none of the drivetrain angles will change, you are only lifting the cab and bed up a little bit

I've got a 6 inch lift and my 35x12.5x20 -44 offset rub on the cab corners so I'm looking to save some money and just throw on a body lift to get 9inches 😎 definitely need gap guards though.

@@AaronCates hey I do have a question. How did you keep your tow hooks? Didn't the bumper cover the bolting location?

Tow hooks were removed and never put back on, in order to kept them you have to trim the bottom valance.

do u have a mechanical fan or electric? if you have just one mechanical one then would you have to remove the bottom fan shroud. would the fan rub?

Body lift kit comes with brackets to drop down fan shroud. I have a clutch fan.

So the rough country 6 in lift kit is a suspension lift? Someone told me I have a body lift which sounds ridiculous if I'm sitting this high with 35s. But shoot I got my Sierra out of impulse

Yes it’s a suspension lift. The biggest body lift companies make is 3”
