Some want Boost gameplay, Sonic only, simplier story. Some want Classic gameplay, 3 characters, dialogueless story. Some want the spinoffs. Some want the aforementioned things in one combination, some want in a different one. There's no game every Sonic fan enjoy nowdays.

Even if the game isn't up to par for what we wished it should have been, I do enjoy the design of the Final Boss. It looks like something you would expect out of a Matrix movie (especially the second form resembling a machine sentinel from that movie, just even freakier) while also still having some Eggman-brand aspects to it (the rotund, egg-like shape of a Death Egg Robot in the first phase.). The fact that the second form bursts out of the "Chest" of the first form like a Xenomorph makes it even more terrifying to me!

I liked the game. Played it start to finish twice already, considering they only had 3 level designers and that. I don't see the issues some people had with the voice actors, I played it japanese first run through, english second, and honestly was surprised at how good it was (in english) during cutscenes, Most of the delivery (Roger and Mike's especially) was spot on. The former has really gotten good at Sonic. And the script, for the most part was enjoyable,to me,(minus a few areas that seemed to be missing something) The transition to the last phase in the final boss did make me do a 😐😨 wtf? for a second, The option to turn of the 'radio' is probably good for replaying stages later, in case you don't want to hear the same things again👍smart. But it's not perfect, obviously, the design in some places could have more to it, (not that the game only has linear paths,) and sections of the story had places missing eg-the nullspace thing definately comes to mind right away, felt they were going to do more with that but didn't have the time,etc to make it. the viewpoint was a little• too zoomed out straining sometimes. (could just be me) There is quite alot of 2d stage area-more than there is 3d, Could have had a chaos boss. The first infinite boss was good, the second can be a little challenging if you do not have a wispon that can attack him equipped (found that out...) and as for the third, the fact you need to keep up speed in order to not get 'try again' and the limited attack opportunity in 2nd half had me on retry a little while before I realized what was going on. Maybe it could have been a little improved. again- with more time. I missed the drift on the rounding turns of modern sonics stages, kept pressing the 'zr/zl' triggers expecting a drift and instead falling right off because I couldn't turn the round 😐? The final boss tricked me. I'll admit it, I read 'death egg robot' the first time and was like- 'seriously?You've gotta be freaking kidding me-again?'--boss shows up-- 0_0 well, shit. maybe it could have been a little more 'visually appealing' as some people are probably saying...in attacks, but sometimes,really, the whole flying around,super forms stuff with lasers-doesn't really feel-or make the game better. To me, it works without the super form lightshow, even if it could be revised,a little, given more hands. The music (for final boss) was actually great.It threw me off at first since it wasn't the usual finalboss sonic game music, but I actually really liked the mood it gave and suiting to the fight, just as how for awhile I was wondering why there was no voicing in the fight.(also weird) but then I wondered 'what do you WANT to hear?' and ultimately it was probably better they left out any voicing during the fight.It added to the seriousness more than the voicing would have. Although, and this is just a nitpick, I really can't help but imagine Eggman screaming or something-like-after the 3 of the use that 'triple boost' and blow right through him/the machine.0_0 .....Pollock's been doing exceptionally good lately with his emotion,pain,yells,misc acting. So an on point scream right after that last blow would've driven the point home with bigger impact. At the end of the day (night), I like what they were doing here,(for the price they were selling it for pre-order), but again additional time, and hands, etc. might've benefitted the overall game. It was enjoyable and I'll probably be playing through it again-must be doing something right. Long post, but heck, the sorry amount of negative we see in the fan base sometimes, I think we need some of the good posted too. ☺

This game isn't much of a letdown, since it DID bring the lost story darkness from the Adventure games, got some characters back, made Eggman more of a threat than he was in Sonic Colors and Lost World, some old foes were back, the Phantom Ruby's evil use, the music, and the atmosphere. I loved it. The negatives? Gameplay should have been a Adventure-Modern hybrid, Infinite was not much what i expected (his backstory is sad, but it should have been changed to be a god from our world instead of a transformed mercenary that wanted power), Infinite's unexpected defeat (but lucky and acceptable retreat to get back on feet), the 3rd phase of the final boss. Is. A. Cliché. They could have done a bit better. Still, SEGA will do what Nintendon't.

It took me 2 years to get around to playing this game. I expected it to really suck tbh, but I actually quite enjoyed it. It was good to play a 3D sonic game again after so many years. Obviously it wasn't the greatest, but it was okay, I'm glad I got around to playing it. It could have been *so* much better but oh well.
